My hp pavilion dv7 entertainment notebook will not turn on

When i plug in the ac  adaptor all that happens is the 3 lights on the lower left blink. i belive they are the power, charge, and disk lights.
If i take out the battery, nothing happens.
I am using a charger for an hp pavilion dv4, it did previously turn on while using the same charger.
i have let it sit to see if it needed to charge, but it kept blinking.

@britay49
Depending on what lights are flashing, that would be a pattern of 1 flash repeating, which would suggest a cpu problem.
If it is the power lights, and such as you suggested, then I would trouble shoot the power itself.
Using and Testing the AC Power Adapter
Computer Does not Start (Windows 7, Vista, XP)
AC Adapter Battery Charging Indicator LED Does Not Display Immediately When Plugged In
Improving Battery Performance (Windows 8, 7, Vista)
Take a look through those, and also try different power outlets and a different power adapter if you have one that is compatible. If none of that helps then you may wish to  call our technical support at 800-474-6836. • Hp pavillion dv7-3065 laptop will not turn on - led light blinks, ac's light on?

HP Pavillion dv7-3065 with Windows 7.
I fell asleep two days ago, and when I woke up yesterday, my laptop was off. (The battery very well may have died while I was sleeping, or just shut off on its own. I don't know which.) I tried turning it on, but nothing happened... except for the lightning bolt (LED light) blinking three times. No noises inside, blank screen, nothing aside those three blinks.
For the record, I've already tried removing the battery. I've also tried removing the battery, removing the AC cord, and holding in the power button for 30+ seconds. It didn't work.
I've tried removing the battery and running off AC. This still doesn't work. However, the laptop recognizes that it's plugged in; the little light by it is consistantly on. I've also tested my laptop with another AC adapter just to be safe. Nothing.
My laptop has been tested without harddrive/etc, but I'm still at a blank. I don't know what else to do. My boyfriend, who's in school to be an IT, took it into his teacher, who messed around with it, and came up with a few conclusions.
He believes that because the lights are flashing, he's confidant that my motherboard is fine. He said to replace the battery, and if that doesn't work, solder the ...I forgot what exactly, but basically it's the charging connection. I forget what exactly. My apologies there.
However... I feel like replacing the battery would be a waste of money... Because regardless of battery, the laptop should still turn on with the AC cord. My boyfriend intends to bring this up and ask if he can just skip to the other thing anyway, but he doesn't have that class again for a week, and I'm at a loss of what else to do. Aside from that, his teacher says there's a limited number of other things that could be wrong...
I was hoping to get some more input...

This won't help you out, but I am experiencing the same problem... I am gonna look on this post to see if you get an answer!
I have the same problem! Except I did manage to get mine to turn on. After doing the hold the power down thing. Nothing happened. I did leave the lap top on cause I was irritated and walked away, about an hour later it came on. It let me turn it on and off a few times. Then stopped. Then leaving it sit on stopped working too

LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT.I BOUGHT A TX2000 LAPTOP A YEAR AND A HALF AGO.THE THOUGHT OF IT MADE ME HAPPY SINCE THIS LAPTOP COST MUCH AND I WAS ONE OF THE FEW WHO WAS ABLE TO BUY IT.AFTER A YEAR AND 2 MONTHS,IT SUDDENLY HANGED IN THE MIDDLE OF MY WORK AND WON'T TURN ON.CONSIDERING THAT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY,HP DID NOT GIVE A HELL OUT OF MY QUESTIONS.SO I JUST CONSIDERED THAT MAYBE BECAUSE I OVER USED IT OR WHATEVER.BUT AFTER I READ COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME MODEL,I SUDDENLY REALIZED THAT IT IS NOT MY FAULT BUT THE FAULT OF THE COMPANY.
PROBLEM:AFTER TURNING THE MACHINE ON,FAN AND LIGHTS ARE ON BUT IT NOTHING WILL APPEAR ON SCREEN.
I TRIED PLUGGING IT TO A DIFFERENT MONITOR AND STILL NOTHING.THEN I REMEMBERED THAT NO MATTER HOW COLD THE PLACE OR ROOM WHERE I WAS USING THE MACHINE,THE HEAT OF THE LAPTOP KEEPS ON INCREASING!!!

PRODUCT NAME:HP PAVILION TX2000 ENTERTAINMENT NOTEBOOK PC

I also have the tx2000 with nothing but problems.  If you get the blank screen here is what you need to do:
Turn the computer off and flip it over.  Blow dry through the vents on medium heat for about a minute.  Keep the blowdryer moving.  Wait a minute and then turn it back on.   The heat from blow dryer warms up the chip and it will work again.  I have to do this every once in a while with mine.  And also make sure you buy a laptop cooling fan for yours.  I have mine on continuously and it helps, although it still overheats on occasion.
Here is a class action lawsuit that was just settled:  http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-compaq/521913-nvidia-reaches-settlement-class-action-suit-affecti...

  • What kind of hard drive do I need for my HP Pavilion dx6650us entertainment notebook PC?

I have a HP Pavilion dx6650us entertainment notebook PC that has the BSOD. Even when I run it in SafeMode I have absolutly NO desktop. I've tried EVERYTHING. I have lost hope. So im just going to buy a new hard drive. Does anybody have ANY idea what type of hard drive I need and aprox. how much it might cost? Please let me know(: Thank you.

It is a standard laptop 2.5 inch wide SATA hard drive like shown in this picture:
Look at Page 9 of this Manual:
    Drive Manual
This will show how to replace it. Do you have the recovery disks that you could have made when the laptop was new? If not you are going to have to get a Windows disk or some HP recovery disks.
Here is a drive that would work for you.
    160 gig 7200 rpm drive for $45
This drive will be faster than what you had and is a bit larger. A very good deal for the price. You perhaps already have a second hard drive in the system. See the manual on page 9 for the location of both hard drive bays. You could move the secondary drive (if there is one) over into the primary position without spending a nickel. In fact, that is a great idea. If you do that and still get the BSOD, then it might well be something else going on other than the hard drive. The hard drive is a likely issue but it could also be the memory and other things, too. However, I think the second drive is only found in the dx9000 models so do not be shocked if you do not have a secondary hard drive bay in your machine. I have never seen a dx6000 series but am pretty sure it is a lot like the dv6000 series of which I have seen more than my share. They have a lot of issues and I am concerned you will be spending money on a new hard drive that will not fix anything.

Yes, but you will need to have the proper drivers installed for your printer.  What printer do you have?  What operating system?

  • HP Pavilion tx2510us Entertainment Notebook PC

I have a HP Pavilion tx2510us Entertainment Notebook PC (original installed with Windows Vista) upgraded to Windows 7.  When I power on the machine all I get is a black scrren.  I can hear the fan, and see lites on  but the screen stays black,  I have taken all peripherals out, I have rtaken  the memory out and put it back, I have treied an alternate monitor, I have tried to get into bios.  I have also done a hard reset (took battery out, unconnected the ac power and held the power button down).  An recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hello JORDANWILL822.  I understand you're unable to get your notebook to properly boot.
This is definitely a hardware problem.  You're unable to get a picture on the internal or external monitors.  However, the notebook appears to be powering on and otherwise running.  This means that it is likely that the video card is no longer functioning properly.
I would suggest checking the cable connection first.  Here is a link to your notebook's Maintenance and Service Guide.  This covers the disassembly of the notebook and would be invaluable for checking the connection.
If the connection is secure then you likely need to have the notebook repaired.
If the notebook isn't in warranty I suggest taking it to a local computer repair shop.  This sort of problem is really best diagnosed hands-on.  Many times these shops will even diagnose the issue while you're in the store.
If the notebook is in warranty or you'd like to inquire about a repair through HP I suggest contacting support.  If you're in the US/Canada the number is 1-800-474-6836.  If you're in another part of the world you'll need to visit HP Support Worldwide to get your region's contact information.

  • My laptop failed to start up model hp pavilion dv2911us entertainment notebook pc.

Product model HP Pavilion dv2911us Entertainment Notebook PC
Problem: failure to start up,when I tried to perform a hard reset, the following symptoms were noticed ( LEDs glow , fan noise can be heard, the display remained black ( except for two lines of function keys information at the bottom of the screen and the computer failed to start up.
F10 key was pressed and the BIOS mode was entered. A memory test was done sucessfully but a hard drive test failed to respond.
What can I do to recover the computer without loosing my data.

You likely need a new hard drive and I would guess your old data is not accessible. Pull out the old hard drive and stop trying to access it because every time you do it lowers the already slim odds of recovering data from it. You need to attach it to another computer with a SATA to usb adapter and see if you can access the data in that manner.

  • Pavilion dv2700 Entertainment Notebook - broke down due to the design defect of this model

My laptop (Pavilion dv2700 Entertainment Notebook) broke down with a black screen. As far as I know, this problem is caused by the design defect of this model.
Please anyone can help me to solve this problem? Many thanks.
I contacted HP Customer Care by submitting the online questionnaire. The feedback I received from HP is that my laptop is out of warranty. I checked the links of repair/exchange or upgrading that HP provided. - They are frustrating and useless.
Both of the products and service from HP are rubbish. I will never ever buy a product from HP!!!

  • HP Pavilion Slimline s3707c PC will not boot up all the way

HP Pavilion Slimline s3707c PC will not boot up all the way; gives the following message:
    Entering Setup
    <F10=setup>                          <F11=System Recovery
    <Esc=Boot Menu>                 <F9=Diagnostics>
Tried to install recovery disc; did not respond.

    Hi wjackson95,
When you get to the screen mentioned below, can you press the F11 key to enter the Recovery system that is on the hard drive? Alternatively, if you can press F10, you can go into the BIOS and change your boot order to put your disc drive before the hard drive so that the PC boots to your Recovery discs. NOTE: You may have to press F10 or F11 multiple times to get it at the right time.
You might consider opening your PC to see if it has dust buildup. If your PC has overheated, it can cause it to not boot. It can also cause heat damage to the interal parts.

  • HP Pavilion 23 All-in-One PC will not turn on

Was away this weekend, before leaving on Friday I updated my computer and then shut it down. When I returned today it will not turn on. I have disconnected it and reconnected everything and still no luck. It was plugged into a sugre protector but no significant weather that would have caused issues. Electricity did not go off over the weekend. I have no idea what could be wrong. I just bought this computer in March of this year. Any suggestions or ideas?

  • Battery Error 601 and Notebook will not boot

My notebook will not bootup anymore.  It was running fine then I just closed the screen and went to class.  Usually this just puts it to sleep.  When I opened it back up, it would not start...  It was totally dead.  When I plug it into the charger, I see a "Pimrary Battery Error" 601 displayed for a few seconds and then it starts to bootup.  It never fully boots-up, it shuts off totally before I get past the little HP splash.
When I plug the charger into the notebook, I see the charging orange LED for a little while, but then it switches to white and then back to orange and then totally off.   I have tried multiple chargers and it always does the same thing.
Since the notebook will not boot even when plugged in, I am suspecting something in the charging system/main board more than the battery.  Is there anyway to tell which components are bad?
This is an almost 2 year old Envy 4-1215dx, Product ID: D1A99UA#ABA
It's been a great notebook upto now...  Any ideas on what to check and how?
    Steve

Here's a link with an explaination and troubleshooting steps for the error you are experiencing.
    HP Battery Alert
You can also try a Hard Reset in order to get you PC to boot long enough to run a diagnostics.
    Hard Reset
You may also try with the battery removed and just the AC Adapter.
If nothing seems to work you can always try a new main battery since they usually are fairly inexpensive. Just Google the Part# shown on your battery.

  • Craetive Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook will not work in just any Lapt

The following is an email I just sent to Creative support ear Sirs or Madam:
I have been a Creative user ever since I've been using computers.
Recently I visited your website in search of a better sound card for my laptop as I work in Iraq and I'm home on R&R. In Iraq all we have to do on our off time is listen and share music files. On your website I found a Creative sound blaster X-Fi sound card which fit my needs perfectly. I called Creatives support number and the lady that answered informed me that they did not have any in stock at the Creative center,,,,she refered me to the Dell website for purchase. I indeed ordered the th blaster X-Fi. When the sound card arri'ved I was very excited. I plugged in the card and nothing ! I went over the instructions several times before calling the Creative tech line. I was informed after 20 minutes with the tech person that it would not work in my laptop. the tech person told me it will only work in newer lapto
    ps.
My laptop is a one year old toshiba satellite A05-S7 which I bought at the military PX in Iraq april 06. No where on your website did it say that it wouldn't work in my particular laptop. because of shipping charges and restocking fees I am forced to keep this card which will not work of course until I buy a new Laptop. I was informed buy your Tech support person that I needed an Audigy 2 zs notebook card for my laptop,,,well Creative of course didn't stock or have that card so I have searched High and low on the internet for this card with no avail. Today ( 6 nov 07 ) I am forced to order a **competitor** sound card which will fit my laptop. I am very upset and disillusioned with Creative at this point. I am sure my email will most likely go un-noticed as does most emails or letters to manufacturer's complaining about there products or service. It looks like when I return to Iraq I will have to promote the **competitor product** sound card as the card to use. I am very sorry this has happened and I hope you ad to your website the laptops this X-Fi card will work and not work in.
Message Edited by Dale-CL on -6-2007 :29 AM

First, please refrain from mentioning/discussing competitor products on this forum, as it is against the rules.
Next, you are correct that the X-fi Xtreme Notebook will not work in any notebook. As it states in the System Requirements, it requires a ExpressCard slot to function. The Audigy notebook card requires an older PCMCIA slot, which is what your laptop has. I'm sorry the Xfi card didn't suit your needs, but you will have to have the newer, faster slot in order to use it as it states in the requirements.
