My hp ProBook 4510s wont boot past the windows logo

my laptp doesnt boot past the windows logo, it just shows the windows logo but thats it, it doesnt get past that, I have tried the hard rest, took out the battery and the poer cable, even did the safe mode thing but nothing works...please help me fix this problem

I'd recommend testing the HDD:
tap F2 at startup
select either hard drive check or component tests then hard drive
run a quick test
if this fails then the HDD will need to be replaced, otherwise, I'd suggest a full system recovery:
tap F11 at startup
Win8:
select Troubleshoot
select Recovery Manager
select system recovery or minimised image recovery
follow on screen prompts
Win7:
select system recovery or minimised image recovery
follow on screen prompts

  • Power Mac G5 wont boot past the Apple Logo

    Mac: Power Mac G5 2.7Ghz DP w/ 4gb RAM (2x1gb, 4x512mb), Leopard
Last week, I formated this computer and reinstalled OS X 10.5. I updated everything, reinstalled all my applications and replaced my documents. Everything was good for a couple days. I have and HP 1350 all-in-one printer (which HP no long has mac support for that model, so I can only use the scanner as a photocopier, but that's not the issue, it prints fine and I have printed files since the formatting) The printer is connect via USB to my Power Mac and then shared on my home network, wirelessly, with 2 other MacBooks and a 27" iMac. My roommate was trying to print something from his MacBook. In the printer queue on the MacBook, the file would say it was printing, but nothing would actually printer. When I went to the printer settings on the Power Mac, the dialog box said the printer was "in use." I reset the printer, nothing happened. I restarted the Power Mac, properly, and now the computer wont boot past the Apple logo. The spinning gear appears and spins for a minute or 2 and then it will just reboot on its own. It will just keep doing this in a continuous loop.
I've tried to boot into safe mode (holding shift) but it still does the same thing.
I manage to get the CD drive open by booting into open Firmware. I restarted the computer and was able to boot from the Leopard disc. I ran disk utility, and repaired the drive and the permission but everything was ok.
I've unplugged any USB device connect but to no avail.
I really don't want to reinstall Leopard again. it took almost 8 hours to install all the applications (such as Logic, Komplete 5, etc) and I had not setup time machine. There are some document files that I would prefer not to loose, but could deal with the loss.
    any suggestions?

Ok, so I reinstalled Leopard, all my documents were in the "Previous Systems" folder, and the applications where present. I went to Software Updates to download all the need updates, which included 10.5.8, itunes, security fixes, etc. It notified my that I would have to restart. I click ok, everything was logged out and the updates started installing. As the computer restarted itself after the updates, i had the same issue again, where it would go to the Apple logo and then restart itself. The second time around, it just froze and the warning "You need to restart your computer" with the power logo in the background came up. So I manually restarted my computer and everything logged in correctly. I restarted it a couple time to see if I could duplicate the errors but everything keeps working properly. Now I'm kind of scare to restart my computer.
Any suggestions as to why this would be happening? Is this most likely a software issue or a hardware issue? This never happened before I formatted last week. The last time I formatted the computer prior to that was less than a year ago.

  • Wont boot past the apple logo, what do I do?!

Suddenly when I restarted my iMac, it won't boot up past the screen with the Apple logo. i have tried holding down the Option key and have gotten the screen with three thumbnails, the refresh, the picture of my HD and the right arrow, nothing works, help!

What are those 3 icons?  I'm guessing one of them is "Macintosh HD."  What are the other two?
You can try starting up with the Shift key held down.  That will do a Safe Boot
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564
which may (?) allow you to start up to the Desktop.  If that works, there are a few things you can do...
I don't have the original OS install disk
It doesn't need to be the "original" installation disc.  You may be able to get a Snow Leopard installation disc by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE, which is the number for the Apple Store.  Snow Leopard is no longer sold from the web site, but I heard you can still order it if you call them directly and ask for it.  The price should be $29 plus tax.  You really need to have a disc, so you can run maintenance, and re-install the OS, if necessary.
But, I want to confirm it has Snow Leopard currently installed.  I only said Snow Leopard, because your profile says "10.6.8."  If that info is out-of-date and it has Mac OS X 10.7.x (Lion) installed, you don't need an installation disc.

my ipod touch 4g 8 gigs is not turning on it wont get past the apple logo its not frozen because it turns the screen black and the apple logo please help me

    - Try a reset.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then connect to your computer and try to restore.
    - See if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - If the logo still show all the time, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try the above again.

  • MacBook won't boot past the apple logo screen!

So my MacBook started freezing up and I went to restart it and it wouldn't boot past the grey logo screen with the spinning gear. Its pretty old and therefor still has the Leopard operating system. I've been trying to run Disk Repair using a Snow Leopard install disc but it just gets about 30% done and then doesn't go any further. Eventually I stopped the disk repair and just tried installing OSX but when it asks me what drive I want to install on there are no options available to click. I've got alot of unsaved work on this old thing and would love to get it running soon! Any help would be extremely appreciated! Thanks

I've been trying to run Disk Repair using a Snow Leopard install disc
Install discs are "machine specific" .. you can only use the install disc that came with the Mac for repairing the hard disk.
You may not have enough free space on the startup disk.
Follow the directions for starting up in Safe Mode
A Safe Mode boot can take a little longer then a normal boot so be patient.
When you see the Desktop, right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
If there isn't enough free space, help here > Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk
You can use Disk Utility to verify the startup disk from Safe Mode but you can't repair the disk. You will need the install disc that came with your MacBook for that. While you have Disk Utillity open check S.M.A.R.T. status at the bottom of the window. Make sure it says:  Verified
When you are finished, click the Apple menu icon top left in the screen. From the drop down menu click Restart.
If you don't have the original install discs you may be able to request a replacement. You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.

  • My ipod 4G wont go past the apple logo when I turn it on - it will stay on the apple logo for few min, then blanks out and back to the apple logo.  Tried reset option/troubleshoot several times.  Also wont show up on computer at all when I plug in to USB.

Can someone please help with my issue listed - My ipod 4G wont go past the apple logo when I turn it on - it will stay on the apple logo for few min, then blanks out and back to the apple logo.  Tried reset option/troubleshoot several times.  Also wont show up on computer at all when I plug in to USB.
Any tips are very much appreciated.

Place the iPod Touch into DFU mode.  This will be similar to what the factory would do to install the iOS onto new iOS devices.
Placing it into DFU mode will allow you to "format" and install the current iOS for that device.
To place your iOS device into DFU mode.
First connect you iOS device to you computer.
Open iTunes if not already open
Now turn off your iOS device using the power swipe.
Press the home and sleep button on your iOS device for 10 seconds.
Release the sleep button but carry on holding down the home button.  For another 10 seconds.
Your iOS device should now be on DFU.  Click on restore and iTunes will download the latest iOS for your device.
Hopefully that sorts it if not, you will have to go to a service centre or call Apple Care up and get them to collect it and repair it. (replace it)  Or go into an Apple Store.

  • Macbook pro boots past the apple logo then gets stuck on white screen

I have a macbook pro that won't boot all the way. When I turn it on it will go to the apple logo, and proceed past it then get stuck on a white screen. If you leave it on this white screen after a little while a grey ribbon will come across the top with little white squares and rectangles. I took the hard drive out and tried to start it up with just the os x disk, and still got the same thing. I took the disk out and the hard drive out and then got the folder with the question mark. Someone said that it sounded like a graphics card issue, and if you all agree do you think that that would be something that a reflow would fix? Thanks for the input guys.

  • Won't boot past the Apple logo...

I have an '07 MacBook that was upgraded to Snow Leopard about 6 months ago. I've had it for about 3.5 years with no problems-- until now. Last night I turned it on and it booted fine. However, once it had booted, the spinning pinwheel would not go away when I was on "Finder". Despite this, Firefox loaded up fine. But I didn't want to do stuff on the computer when I knew something wasn't right. I tried to restart it, but it wouldn't shut down, so I was forced to cut it off with the power button. When i tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't get passed the white screen with the Apple logo and the little spinning load signal. Along with that, a load bar that I have never seen on that page before began to load up, but it disappeared after filling up to about 10%. I let it sit for a while before turning it off and trying again. By this point I was freaking out, because I have some valuable documents/files that I haven't backed up yet that I really need. I got on my sister's computer and began to research all the topics where people had the same problem. I did everything. I tried the verbose mode, but everything seemed to be okay. In verbose, I did the fsck -fy and reboot, but it still wouldn't start. I did the PRAM and SMC resets. I tried to open it in Safe Mode, but I couldn't get it to open. This morning, I got out my Snow Leopard disc and was able to boot that up. Unfortunately, I, stupidly, have not used time machine to back anything up like I should. I don't want to just wipe and restart everything because there are some files I really need to get. I'm trying disc utility. When I verify the disc, it says that the Sibling Link is invalid and it can't repair that. It tells me to back up as much as I can and then to wipe it and start over, but I don't know how to back stuff up from here. I've also tried "Permission Verify". It comes up with all this things that say either "Group differs on..." or "Permissions differ on..." and then it goes on with a long line of text starting with "Applications/Utilities/....etc. etc." and they all end with either "should be 0, group is 80(or 90)" or "should be -rw-r--r--, they are "-rw-rw-r--". But before it finishes verifying them, it stops loading with about a minute left and pretty much just freezes other than the mouse being moveable.
I'm out of town right now, but I'm probably just going to take it in to the local Mac store when I get home since there's not one around here. Of course, if this is something that I can fix, I'd prefer just to do that. Someone please put me out of my misery and tell me that my files are recoverable. When I'm in disc utility, it says I have the exact capacity I had when my computer was booting, so that gives me hope that all of my files are still there, not to mention the fact that I could see them in another program under "Utilities". Unfortunately though, I'm not computer-savy enough to know what to do. Sorry for all this writing, but hopefully this way all you tech-wizards' questions will be answered so that you know how best to help me.

Yes, I'm using my snow leopard DVD. I wrote all of this in my first post. I tried to boot safe mode from Terminal by doing the "sudo nvram boot-args="-x"" thing. Also in my first post, I said that i used Disc Utility and that it told me the Sibling link was missing or was wrong. Read my first post and you'll see everything that I've tried.
Also, an update on something, now when I upload in Verbose mode, it tells me the bugs; it didn't do that before.

  • My iphone 3gs wont load past the apple logo

my iphone wont charge or turn on. occasionally it will charge for 20seconds then it will get stuck on the apple logo then the screen will light up slightly as if it is going to turn on but then it goes off and i cant do anything with it again for days on end, can anybody help or is it time for a new phone?

is the phone jailbroken? if it is, that could be the issue. if not, you should probably do a back up and then restore your iphone. if that doesn't fix it... well the phone is almost 5 years old, be happy you had it that long.

  • My imac wont boot past the apple screen

I installed a Java update and now my system wont start

Was this from Software Update, or some direct download?
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

  • My HP Pavilion A1710N wont boot past the HP INVENT Screen

I have a HP A1710N desktop, Ive had it for little under 6 years now and recently replaced the motherboard, hard drive, power supply, and added 5 gigs of ram to it, and upgraded from the 32 bit operating system to the 64 bit windows vista home premium, my problem is this, I reformated my hard drive and after I reinstalled and updated my computer I rebooted, after that all it did was start up at the HP IOnvent screen and didnt do anything, I can hear and see the fans going and hear the hdd going, my dvd drive opens and so on, but it would not boot any farther, I took everything out and cleaned it up and reordered the ram chips, and still same thing.
I then took everything except the dvd drive, mother board, and power supply out and put into a differant computer and everything works perfect.
my question is this, could my power supply cause that or do I need to replace my mother board agian
    my computer specs
    Hp A1710N
    Athlon 64 X2 (W) 4200+ 2.2 GHz
    1tb hdd
    1tb external hdd
ati msi hd 4550 graphics adaptor
    6 gig ddr2 ram (2x2 gig + 2x1 gig)
    250 watt power supply

this problem is realy easy to fix. first take the cmos battary out. next make sure there are only two ram stick in must be 2gb . plug them in on the right side  also make sure the power cord in unpluged . then let it sit for 5 mins or so. plug it in with the cmos batarty still out. it will turn on but the monitor will not show anything thats a good thing tho.  unplug again then put the cmos battary back in . make sure the hard drive is pluged in good. plug back in and it will start all by its self. and boot up. it will ask you to start normal or to check the start up. run the check and it will restart and work good. after that run window disk clean . windows up date. it shut down and put the ram in if you have more. allways make sure its unplug . the static from you and your hand may cause it to do the same thing over again. this is why the problem happen in the first place. some power supply's have a on/off switch you must still unplug the power cord.  and wait 30 sec or more to let the power supply drain or dump the power out.  THIS WILL WORK 100% of the time.
