My HP simple pass fingerprint scanner won't work

This is getting old. Every time Firefox updates, my fingerprint scanner stops working. How can I make it work?

Installed invisible shield, now fingerprint scanner won't work!!

Has anyone else experienced this problem? the guy at the apple store installed it for me, and later on, my fingerprint scanner stopped working with both unlocking my phone, and trying to add new fingerprints. i've tried both soft and hard resets but nothing seems to be working. help!!!

Does the shield cover the scanner? Since you're at the Apple store, did you even consider speaking with the person who assisted you?

The Fingerprint scanner doesn't work on my HP ProBook 6455b

When I got the laptop, it had Windows 7 on it and the hardware was customized so the laptop has 2.8gHz CPU and modified GPU and that's it. It came with the fingerprint scanner, but never worked and I never tried to set it up. Now, I upgarded to Windows 8, and now 8.1 Preview.

Now, I installed HP Simplepass, but nothing happens and when I attemp to enter my Windows password, it says "invalid". I checke Device Manager and it says under Biometric Scanner, Validity Scanner, and updated it.
Please help and let me know if you have any suggestions; it would make an even better birthday, especially being 6000miles away from home as a student-ambassador for Germany (Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange)-US State Department/CB

Hi,
See if you can access the notebook in Safe Mode as follows.
Shut down the notebook. Tap away at f8 as you start the notebook to enter Windows Recovery Console. Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and hit enter.
If you can access your Admin account in this mode, click the Start Menu, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools and launch System Restore. Pick a restore point before the SimplePass update and then proceed with the restore process. When complete, Windows will reboot as normal. See if your original password/finger scan now works.

CanoScan 9000F scanner won't work on my MacBook Pro even though it should be compatible with the Mac 10.7.2 OS.

My new CanoScan 900F scanner won't work on my MacBook Pro even though I've followed all instructions to make it compatible with the 10.7.2 OS. The USB connection isn't recognised. What else con I do?

I have a similar problem with a new CanoScan 9000F which I tried to use without any success on my desktop computer (Mac Pro 5,1) and laptop (Macbook Pro 1,2) both running OS 10.6. Problem is identical on both, viz:
• Scanning process appears to start, a message comes on the screen: Scanning do not open document cover followed by Scanning...
• This is then replaced by the message: Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check status. Scanner driver will be closed. 2.155.33
I've spent several hours on the phone with Canon support but having uninstalled/installed/reinstalled/updated/turned on/turned off/unplugged/plugged/restarted innumerable times, the problem is exactly the same. The scanner icon shows up in the Printer & Fax System Prefs (though without the little status lights) and shows as being connected in the USB tree. I think it's a problem with the scanner, Canon bods are suggesting the Macs are at fault and suggest I try connecting to a wintel (hawk, spit) and it's 100km to the nearest Canon service centre.
Any suggestions as to what might be the problem/s and what I might be able to do to fix it/them?

By the way, bought the Canon to replace a HP Scanjet 8300 which I've used for 6 years almost without problems. Any that I have had have been fixed merely by turning the scanner off then on after a 10 second rest.

My HP Photosmart C5280 scanner won't work right anymore. I always used it with my Picasa 3

For some reason my HP Photosmart C5280 scanner won't work with my Picasa 3, and it used to. My PC is also an HP Pavilion g6, with Windows 7. I tried downloading a new driver, as the CD was too old to have Windows 7, and also updating my Picasa, but none of that worked. I'm trying to scan an old photo. I'm just not having any luck at all, and it used to work like magic.

Bet you upgraded from Snow Leopard. The scanner software you have installed is likely PPC but could run in Snow Leopard, which was the last version of Mac OS X that supported it, rather than just Intel software.
I'd suggest going to the Epson website and getting Mountain Lion compatible drivers from their Drivers and Support page. They will be for Intel Macs such as yours.

My USB ports and fingerprint scanner no longer work...

This problems requires a bit of exposition and I'm bad with computers so bare with me. A few months I noticed my USBs were not working on my computer, So I tested the same USBs on another computer and they all worked so I knew something was wrong with my computer. I decided to try some "solutions" online and only made the problem worse.Before my computer would at least recognise that there was a USB and try to do something with it, only to fail miserably. If I remember correctly it would say something like "failed to install device drivers".Ever since I tried those "solutions" all it does now is make a noise when i plug in a USB. Oh and my fingerprint scanner no longer works. I remember messing around in the Device manager and messing around with things. My epson Perfection V330 scanner won't work with mavericks

I updated to Mavericks and now my Esson scanner won't work. I found a download for a driver on the Epson site but it doesn't seem to want to download - either that or it's taking hours to download.

As listed on Epson's site the drivers are available via Apple Software Update.
Ensure the scanner is powered on and directly connected to your Mac, then try following the steps below:

Now try opening the Image Capture application within the Applications folder and check if your scanner appears.
If the scanner cannot be located yet try restarting your Ma and check for any difference.

Finally, if you still having issue getting the drivers from ASU try installing the package below and try scanning from Image Capture again:

Might have a hardware issue that was caused by the minor liquid spill.
Take it to Apple to have them look at it. I think they do a free diagnostics. That way you can find out what's wrong with your MB.

The same problem again with HP Simple Pass fingerprint reader after upfrading from Firefox 4 to Firefox 5. I have already installed HPSimPlePass 7.0.74.0 to fix the problem after upgrading to Firefox 4.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 with a fingerprint reader. I had the same problem as many other people when upgrading to Firefox 4, : I couldn't use the HP Simple Pass to enter a website needing a username and password by just swiping my fingerprint. I fixed the problem by downloading the new HPSimPlePass 7.0.74.0. This fixed the problem and I was very happy. Since upgrading to Firefox 5 I have the same problem again, but I already have the new version of HP Simple Pass. How can this be fixed so that I can use this fingerprint scan feature again, or where can I download Firefox 4 again?

Satellite M300 - Fingerprint Scanner won't let me in

I have an M300 series Notebook, with the fingerprint scanner.
I got the scanner working when I first got the notebook (3 days ago). But on the tutorial, it keps saying, 'Too short'. Anyway, I finally scanned in a finger, and it seemed to work OK. It would take me 5, 6 attempts, but then it would log me in.
I then reinstalled the O.S, going from Home Premium, to Vista Ultimate. After installing the fingerprint scanner software, it somehow remembered my finger! I never 'Enrolled' it. Also, it was scanning first time, everytime. well, maybe 8 out of 10 times. This worked well, but then suddenly today, I tried to login, and it says 'No Match'.
It's possible that there was maybe dust on the sensor, so the initial scans were not good... and now the dust has gone? That's the only thing I can think of.
So, my question: Is there a way to reset my fingerprint, and re-enroll them? To get to settings, you need to scan your finger! :(
Is there no way I can get to the settings via my typed-in password? How can I reset my finger prints?

The fingerprints are stored in the hardware, so when you reinstall Windows, the fingerprints will still be there.
Try cleaning your finger, and when you swipe, don't push too hard.

Hi, I just updated from Windows 7 to the Windows 10 technical preview (10130). The fingerprint scanner on my laptop no longer works. In Windows 7 when I used it with LastPass, it worked well. Hi , I understand that you are having some troubles with the fingerprint reader on your system, after installing the Windows 10 tech preview. You may want to try updating to the current build which is 10162. Each update tends to have a series of fixes and new features, ( and sometimes a few more issues). Currently the only drivers for Windows 10 tech preview, are a part of the operating system. Also please read the following post Welcome to the HP Windows® 10 Technical Preview discussion board. by . It includes general information about the Tech Preview as well as links to the various Microsoft pages for preview. Also if you wish to get the free upgrade to the release version of Windows 10, when it comes out, you will probably want to go back to your original factory operating system, to qualify for it. Canon LIDE210 scanner won't work with 64 bit arch.

I have a Canon LIDE 210 flatbed scanner which is supposed to be fully supported in linux - for many many months if I plug it in, and start up GIMP to use the scanner plugin - initially it looks like it will work but although it successfully completes a preview scan, if I ask it to do a full scan of a page or section of page it makes abnormal noises, and ends up usually screaming as if in pain, and then the sane application hangs. This is if it is plugged in to a laptop with usb3 cable connecting the laptop to the scanner, and running 64 bit arch. Yet the same scanner plugged in to a laptop which only has usb2 ports, and running 32 bit arch works flawlessly running the scanner in the same way.
I expect that the 32/64 bit arch issue is not relevant, and it is some problem with the usb3 drivers not being compatible with the usb2 capability of the scanner that is causing the failure.
I have seen some suggestion (from a Ubuntu forum) to "In the UEFI/BIOS change the setting under USB configuration, "XHCI Pre-Boot mode" from enabled to disabled. In some BIOS configurations this setting is known as "XHCI Mode". Is there a better way to resolve this since usb3 external drives and usbkeys work fine without this change on the same machine.
Does anyone have any experience with running usb flatbed scanners via a usb3 port, and if so is there a workaround that is known to work with this particular scanner? I have seen the thread at https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=184816 which also did not lead to a solution.
It would be nice to find a way to deal with this although perhaps a newer linux compatible scanner that is equivalent to the LIDE 210 is available that is compatible with usb3?

The Canon Australia web site is only showing v4.5.1.2 of CanoScan Toolbox for the LiDE35 (same version for Windows and Mac). There is no mention of v5.0.1.3 being supported by this model so this could explain the application is unable to locate it. The applications typically have a built-in list of support devices and if the 35 is not in this list then it won't work. Again with reference to the Canon web site, the LiDE 600F and 70 show v5.0.1.4 of CanoScan Toolbox. Later models, such as the LiDE 100 and 200 released last year, don't use the Toolbox application. Instead they work with MP Navigator or OS X apps like Preview.
