My husband and I share an iTunes account. I just got a mac, but everything I send by message from the mac appears to come from his phone. How do I correct this?
My husband and I share the itunes account. I just got an iMac. Everytime I send a message from my iMac, it appears to come from my husband's account phone number. Is there any way to fix this? Also, when I open iMessages, all the texts are from his phone (his text conversations).
Thank you so much for your help!
Myrna
Try This:
Open up the imessage app on your Imac. Once you have it opened go to top left corner of your screen next to the apple picture and the word MESSAGES appears. Click on it then click on preferences and uncheck your husbands phone and number and or any other numbers which are checked. I had same problem this fixed it. Also if you wanted to you can open up your own Apple account, but that's not really necessary. My wife and I both share the same as you do

My husband and I share an Itunes account so use the same email address and password. Our iphones are now connected and we get each other's messages and share each other's contacts. How can we stop this happening?
A couple of different approached:
Create a second AppleID for one of you that includes the email address and phone number you wish to use for messaging, but do not apply it to the iTunes and app store (just keep the current one). My wife and I do this and it works quite well. Also allows for easier syncing of Contacts , notes etc. using icloud if you wish to do that.
Add additional emails/phone numbers to the existing account and change the Send/Receive settings for Messages. this will not fix the Contcts isues for you however. -
My husband and I share an iTunes account. We both just got iPads. How can we program them to have different phone numbers for FaceTime and messages
Use different email address (gmail?) just for FaceTime and Messages.

My husband and I share an I tunes account.
This was never a problem until I Cloud was born.
I have turned off the Icloud on my I phone4 all together.
He has Iphone 4S and is getting all the apps I purchase and I am getting his contacts.
How can this be solved. If I get my own Itunes account do I have to purchase my apps again?
Help!If you use another iTunes ID you can keep your apps, but you need to do some settings first.
Read the hlep infos.

I have purchased music, apps, or books with multiple Apple IDs. How can I get all of this content onto my iOS device?
First, you need to copy all of your purchased content so it is on the same Mac or PC with iTunes. This computer should be the one you sync your device with. For more information on how to move your content, see these articles:
Mac: iTunes for Mac: How to copy purchases between computers
PC: iTunes for Windows: How to copy purchases between computers
Next, authorize your computer to play content with each Apple ID in iTunes. Once your computer is authorized for all your content, it can be synced to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
And about the iCloud, I'm not very sure about that. I think maybe you don't need to turn off all of the iCloud settings, just the items you don't want to sync with your husband. For the apps, you can cancel 'automatically download purchased items' in the settings on iOS devices.
May these informations will help you.

My husband and daughter now share an itunes account and would like to each have their own instead. Is it possible to make a new itunes account for one of them?
Yes.
iTunes content that was downloaded with more than one iTunes account can be transferred to an iPhone.
All 3rd party apps - all paid and free apps include DRM protection, which is tied to the iTunes account that was used to download the apps. Whoever the new iTunes account is created for, in order to install app updates that were downloaded with the shared iTunes account will require using the shared iTunes account and password. -
My husband and I currently share an iTunes account but we would like to have separate accounts. How do we do this?
you would have to create a new appleid for one of you in itunes or at appleid.apple.com since you cant split up an account
you can't move purchases from one to another but you can always keep that account for the store and just use the new one for icloud facetime etc -
Will we have to create a seperate account for her, or can we all have the same one? I would like to avoid 'checking' and 'unchecking' individual songs every time one of us tries to synch our ipods to the library.
PLEASE HELP!!!FYI: iTunes account (used to make purchases) is not the same as iTunes library (iTunes on your computer with music, movies, etc.).

You can but you will not be able to limit what she syncs.
I would like to avoid 'checking' and 'unchecking' individual songs every time one of us tries to synch our ipods to the library.
I don't recommend using (only) the checkmarks to select what to sync.
Each of you can create your own playlists then sync only those playlists.
Then add/delete from your own playlists to change iPod content.
The only time I uncheck items is if I rarely/never want to sync them to anything, such as Christmas music or old audiobooks.
I suggest you each have your own computer login account. Then everyone has their own contacts, calendars, and everything else.
You and your husband can share an iTunes library and let your daughter have her own. -
Or do we have to set up a seperate account for her? I would like to be able to share 'certain' songs with her but restrict others without having to 'check' and 'uncheck' songs individually every time we try to synch. Is there a way to do this or not? Also, FYI she has not synched to our library at ALL just yet since I am trying to figure out a way for this to work easily, and for her to be able to purchase songs with her gift card....but my husband and I do not want those songs to synch to our ipod. Only the songs that we are going to purchase. Does that make sense??:)
THANKS!!Okay, so I just got around to 'trying' to create and Apple ID for my daughter for her ipod as suggested above BUT I accidentally used her b-day and of course she is not old enough!!! So then I got off the internet etc and tried to create an apple ID for her using my b-day and it still would NOT let me, saying that I do not meet the minimum age reqirements!:( I am SO frusterated right now...it is not like I was going to let her have any control over what she purchases anyways, seeing as how she is 7yr. and we are generally strict about what she listens to. Is there any way that I can do this for her?
Thanks! -
our contacts and reminders are shared on each phone. Is there a way to unlink?
Yep, you go to http://www.apple.com and sign up to get your own Apple id and password.
Then reset the iPhone to factory settings and put in your id and password and you will have your own account
You can also at the Apple web site check the support community which may have a quicker solution.
Good Luck -
My wife and I share one itunes account with separate libraries. When I sync her iphone in her library, it adds all of my iphone contacts to her contact list. How can we avoid this?
Make groups of contacts in your Address Book and select the option to sync only selected groups to each phone.
This explains how to create groups: Mac 101: Address Book, http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2486 -
My sister and I share an itunes account so she can click on my email and receive my imessages how can I make sure this stops happening?
One of you needs to use a separate Apple ID for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage.
The Apple ID needs to be a verified email address. Once you have an email address, that can be verified, go here & create the ID:
https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/createAppleId
Then on one of the phones, turn off Contacts, Calendars, etc. for iCloud. You'll be prompted to keep the data or delete it from the phone, then turn off iMessage, FaceTime & delete the iCloud account...Settings>iCloud...scroll down...delete account. Then, setup iCloud using the new Apple ID, turn on iMessage & Facetime.
This will have no affect on the ID you both share for iTunes content, & you can continue to do so. -

My wife and I share an iTunes account. Is there any way to set up a seperate one for her to sync her phone contacts, iCloud and music to without having to purchase all her music again and then share going forward?
It would be so much easier having seperate accounts but we have hundreds of her purchased songs on my account and she would need to be able to access these from her account. Possible?
Also, if we bought a song in future we would want to be able to both have access to it.
Alternatively, what is the easy way to sync two distinctly different contact lists to one iTunes account?
Thank you in advance.FYI: iTunes account (used to make purchases) is not the same as iTunes library (iTunes on your computer with music, movies, etc.).
