I have tried a reboot and changed language but fear the speakers are no good. Does anyon
e have any suggestions?

It sounds like your speaker is broken. It could also be a (unfixable) software issue. Neither issue can fixed by replacing a part or by software support. If you are under warranty (and there is no liquid damage to the device), then Apple might be able to replace the iPad. I highly recommend seeing an authorized Apple service provider ASAP.

Try A and B
(A) Restart iPad

Although you say you have let the battery drain, was it for long enough? Since nothing else that you've tried so far has worked, I suggest that you leave the iPod unplugged for at least four days, preferably a week. That way, if something is stopping the iPod from turning the screen on, then whatever it is will drain the battrey. However, since the screen isn't on, that may take longer than if the screen was on.
Then, after that time, plug the iPod into a power source and leave it alone for at least thirty minutes. Only after thirty minutes will it show any signs of life, but you should leave it until it is fully charged before trying to use it.
If you get to this stage, the fact that the battery has drained will cause the iPod to reset when it springs back to life.

This is my standard boilerplate set of suggestions to try if you lose sound on the iPad. Don't dismiss something just because you said that you tried it before. Make sure that you are resetting as described here and so on. Also, double check the settings- there is more than one way to mute system sounds.
1. If you have no sound at all, even in the Music App, try resetting the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
2. Reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. No data will be lost but you will have to enter all of the device settings again.
3. If you lost sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.

4. If you still have no sound, try cleaning the dock connector opening of the iPad with a soft brush and just a little bit of rubbing alcohol.

Does garageband use different amp sounds &effects I can use with my guitar?

I know I can plug my guitar into my iMac and use garageband to record music, but does Garageband also have amp models and effects that I can use with my guitar? Can I just plug my guitar into my iMac and make music with effects and sounds for my guitar?

I want a white Custom w/Gold but money is so tight lately... my Imac has become my main amp lately - I have 4 amps (2 vintage tube amps and 2 SS) but most of the time when I'm "wankin" alone I plug into my Imac - I have oodles of plug-ins and use Logic Express a lot more lately but still enjoy Garageband's simplicity...
I actually have ran my SOUND OUT into a small Fender Frontman and used it for my computer speakers (gives ya' more bite than a standard subwoofer system) - I'm trying to find another Frontman 15R on Ebay so I can do STEREO FRONTMEN - the Frontman has nice cleans and with the added reverb it sounds kinda nice...

3 Beeps on POST usually indicates a memory problem.
You will need to take it in for service, as you can't even so much as re-seat the memory on an Air.
