Help, Phone will not restore, stuck in connect to itunes screen.
Hi everyone,
I have an Iphone 4S, i updated it over wifi to ISO7, when it restarted it is stuck in the connect to Itunes page.
I have tried to restore it but it keeps coming up with (unknown error 3014) It is stuck on the apple screen and itunes is saying that it updating firmwire. tried it on a brand new computer with a fresh install of Itunes, still the same problem. i have also tried restoring it in DFU mode, which i have had to do many times in the past. my phone is just not having any of it. i have restarted the pc and the phone, disabled all antivirus and firewall on the computer to see if that helps with no avail.
Any suggestions would be great.I too was having this problem with my iPad 2. Upgraded iOS from 7.1.1 to 8.1.1 then got stuck in same loop telling me to connect to itunes but would never finish the install of iOS 8.1.1.
I eventually did what I didn't want to do. I upgraded my OSX from Mavericks to Yosemite. Then made sure all my apps/programs on my mac were up to date. Then connected iPad 2 to iTunes and this time it worked.
Oh, and Yosemite isn't bad so far. -
is there any way i can get the data from the phone?
Hi webby84,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're experiencing a hardware issue with your iPhone.

I came from the U.S to Spain and My laptop will not connect to the internet via airport I keep getting the message above what do I do?
Hi, the one below worked for my case.
I beleive there are different reasons for this problem. In my case, doing try and error, I found a solution for my case (at the ver end of this post). The reason I say this is because I had the same problem and googled the problem for quite a while ... none of the suggested solutions worked for me, although it seems like they worked for others in some cases. I tired taking my computer to different wifi networks (mainly unprotected ... ie no WAP) and alwasy got the same problem. I even took the computer to apple and no luck ... surprisely when I took it to apple it did connect to apple's wifi network in the store, so according to them it was probably some problem with my network ... when I walked out of the store I tried connecting to another open network in the mall and got the same problem ... went back to apple and they tried a few things without any luck (however it would connect to apple's network)
Of all the solutions I read the one that made more sense for me was the one related to keychain access, although in my case I had the problem trying to get into an unprotected network, which at some point was protected.
So this is what I did: among other things I compared the keychain access file with that from another macbook that was working ok, and I noticed that although my wifi network is unprotected there was an entry for it in the keychain access list (maybe from the time that I had the network protected with the deafult config from the router). So I went to network preferences on the computer that had the problem, went to advanced and selected the name of my network (configured without security), and changed it to WAP personnal security, and entered the previous access code from my router --- the same configured in the other mac keychain file ---. This created an entry for my network in the keychain access file, just as it showed in the other macbook. I then went back to network preference and change the configuration of my network back without security. AND NOW it is working, NO MORE SELF ASSIGNED IP ADDRESS. (remember that I actually I never really changed the configuration of my wifi router to make the network secured ... actually I didn't touch it at all .... well I did before some days ago trying to follow some of the suggested solutions, doing things like power cycle, reset to factory default etc, etc, which never worked) -
my phone will not pick up network, i have tried restoring on i-tunes and it comes up with error message -1
Here's what that error means:
Error 1 or -1
This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
This comes from this article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error1 -
Wi-Fi has the self-assigned IP address 169.254.235.119 and will not be able to connect to the Internet.
Reset the TC and make sure it is in the right mode.. ie router if you use a cable pure modem for instance.
Or if you use a router combined modem.. put the TC in bridge mode. -
Ok so my phone is disabled and i can not connect my phone to itunes a get an error message. what can i do.
Connect in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to reset the passcode during this process:
iOS: Unable to update or restore and iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software. -
my phone has switched off for the second time this week, however when connecting to itunes the restore process wont complete. the error is 2006 however i have tried a number of USB cords, and none seem to be working.
I am in the noerthern [parts of australia and accessing an apple store is not possiable for another month. this is my only soucrce or telecommunication. please helpThis is what it says about error 2006
Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service. -
my phone has gone into recovery mode on its own. says to connect to itunes. i have restored it 10 times and it does nothing please help me i am out of the country and desparate
Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer. If the iPhone is recognized in Recovery Mode, then Restore the Firmware. If not recognized, then hold both Home and Power Buttons until the iPhone is recognized in Recovery Mode. Usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Restore the iPhone Firmware.

My iPhone 4 has an error message on the screen that reads "iiPhone disabled connect to iTunes" I've tried connecting and can't get anywhere what do I do and what is the problem?
Your phone is disabled for some reason. Maybe you entered the wrong Passcode too many times. In any case you need to do just as the phone is instructing you to do. Start the latest version of atones on your computer and connect your phone. iTunes should guide you through the process of getting your phone working again. Here's a link to an Apple support page on this:

See Here > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
You may need to try this More than Once...
Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...
But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work. -

My ipad is saying connect to itunes because it has been disabled. but my itunes says i need to unlock it before i cant do anything. i need help.
Hi Stephanie,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're going to have to put the iPad in to recovery mode before you can restore it. The article linked below provides more details about the passcode lock and will walk you through putting the process of restoring from recovery mode.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
Use recovery mode
Follow these steps if you never synced your device with iTunes, if you don't have Find My iPhone set up, or if you can't get to your own computer. You'll need to put your device in recovery mode, which will erase the device and its passcode. Then you'll restore your device as new or from a backup.
Disconnect all cables from your device.
Turn off your device.
Press and hold the Home button. While holding the Home button, connect your device to iTunes. If your device doesn't turn on automatically, turn it on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode.
Click OK, then restore the device.
Cheers!
