If I'm following correctly, double tap the home button. Then slide the bar on the bottom of your screen to your right where you'll see the ipod icons and and a black icon on the left. If you see an image of a lock on the black icon, it means that you are locked in portrait orientation. Simply tap the icon to unlock it and that should free up landscape mode.

Make sure it's not in Portrait mode. Double-click the home button to bring up the multitasking bar, go to the left, the leftmost icon should be an empty square. Click it to turn on or off Portrait mode.

i eventually got round to downloading the desktop manager after doing a update i rebooted my phone, now it will no longer switch back on and the red light keeps flash can anybody help

First, do this:
Still connected to the USB cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage).
If it doesn't reboot....
First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.

itunes wants to format my device but I have some pivotal information on it. How can I get my voicememos on my computer without wiping my memory? My "on this iphone" section lists older voicememos no longer on my iphone. It will let me sync, but it doesn't transfer any files and if I try to sync any music it tells me I am linked with another library. I finally worked around Apple's problem. I synced my iPhone 4 phone with another computer. Lost my apps and music on the phone but still had my music database of almost 3,000 tunes. I then synced with another computer with the updated iTunes software they just sent out. Then had to rebuild my apps and music on the phone. I used Tune-Up plug-in to help with the music with covers and dupes, etc. It took me till 1 am last night but it's now working and syncing ok. I have about 1,000 tunes on the phone now, with no dupes and 95% of the cover artwork. Without Tune-Up it would take me a week to get the dupes out and covers for all the albums. I think the problems started when Apple tried to send the update directly to the iPhone rather than thru iTunes like they had always done before. I turned off the cloud and am syncing and backing up with my computer and home sharing is turned off. That method worked very well for the last few years. It seems like the combination of home sharing, the cloud and 5.0.1 software caused a lot of problems. Hopefully I have it under control now, or at least until the next software update. It was a major pita.

I have made sure the do not disturb is not turned on and have also gone into Accessibility and made sure sound is not off there. I have done a reboot and also a reset of the settings. When I set my ring tone, the sample tone plays, however, the phone only vibrates when I get a call. The apps also do not have any sound. Everything was working fine until the update.

I am positive the half moon isn't there. That one caught me once before so now I am careful to check.

The iPhone will behave as any other camera would when connected to a Windows PC. I suggest you check Windows user forums for similar issues related to any/all cameras.

The only time I have ever seen that is when my SIM card is out of my phone. Try opening the sim card tray and then replacing it after a minute. Use a paperclip to pop the door open on the side of the phone (if it is a 4 or 4s) or on top (if 3GS) and see if that changes the alert message. Check back with status if that doesn't help. You can also trying a full restore by plugging it into your computer and opening iTunes. When it recognizes the phone click on the phone name in the left menu and hit restore. This will erase the phone but if you have a backup you can restore from that after it resets the phone or you can set it up as a new phone and start from scratch.
