The ipod is initially connected to my computer, I can see it when I look on devices in my computer. However, when it finishes syncing it is no longer detected to my computer. I cannot transfer any of my songs to my new laptop because of this. I have tried to reinstall itunes, reset my ipod and use a different port. None of these things worked. Any ideas?

    Will not turn on or screen remains dark
    Connect iPod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow iPod to turn on.
    If iPod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting it while it is still connected to power. Reset the iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least six seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear.
    If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
    If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your iPod may need service.

    My Ipod nano suddenly would not take a charge either from a wall charger or directly from my computer and when plugged in to the USB port, computer says device not recognized. I've updated my Itunes version. I've reset the IPod settings with no success. I"ve spent hours online with the "SELF HELP" with no help.     I recieved a 6 gen nano from the 1 gen replacement program.  I completely removed all apple software from my system, and downloaded the newest versions to replace them before plugging in the new nano.  When I plugged in the new nano, the computer recognized it for a few seconds, saw it was an ipod and started the registration process, but then started disconnecting and connecting the nano every few seconds.  Now itunes does not recognize the nano at all.  I ruled out the usb ports and the cable as the problem, so it has to be the nano with the issues.  Please help, at least my old 1 gen still worked!  Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing this?

    I have the EXACT same problem.  I believe also it is the NANO.

    Any standard USB port should do the job.  Have you tried using a different cable?

    Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
    There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok.

    If the songs are not in your iTunes library, download them as indicated here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.  Then sync them to your iPod.

  • Ipod Nano will not turn off

    My ipod nano will not power off. Even the sleep button does not work. I have reset everal times. Any thoughts?

    I've been through 4 of those R's, as well as the Quick Fix and about 5 hours on the phone with Apple. It will now turn off, but it is still not visible to iTunes and the iPod updater won't run because it also can't see the iPod. Windows sees it just fine, so now I'm awaiting a 3-5 day response from an Apple engineer about what is wrong. This all started when I installed the 6.0 update. I'm now back to the older software, but it still won't reconize my iPod, so therefore will not update it with new songs, etc.

    like it used to.  There is no left side "menu" on screen that all the writen support talks about.  Anyone can help??
