My i pod touch 2nd generation will not turn off

My ipod touch 2nd gene. will not turn off. When I turned it on the screen is blue with the apple in the middle.  It has the little wheel thing underneath but its not turning or doing anything.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod touch 2nd generation will not connect to home wifi

My ipod touch 2nd generation will not connect to the internet. I am using a BT modem and this is a new problem. Until recently, I had no problem with this connection and it will connect to BT Fon and BTOpenworld. I just cannot get it to connect at home any more. I also use a macbook pro and this is connected to the bt modem.

You should post this in the iPod Touch forum.  This is the iPod Shuffle forum.

  • My ipod touch 5th generation will not turn on and the home button doesn't work. what do i do?

Hello my name is Leslie and i would like to ask you guys a question on how to fix my ipod or what is wrong with it. My ipod touch 5th generation will not turn on and the home button doesn't work. what can i do to fix it ?

Has the home button worked in the past, or is this been something that hasn't worked for some time? The only way to reset the device is with the sleep/wake (power) and home buttons together. Without it, you would have to wait until the battery dies and then plug it in to try and reset it. The Home button is used for several user troubleshooting steps. Without it, you cannot perform a reset, put the device into recovery mode, or place it in DFU mode. You need to get the home button repaired.

  • Ipod touch 2nd gen will not turn on or restore

hey guys, so i have a Ipod touch 32gb 2nd gen. It suddenly just stopped working it turned off so I thought I just needed to charge it. But after leaving it to charge for a few hours i tried turning it on but nothing happened. When I connect it to my computer and hold the lock and home button itunes prompts me to restore it but when I try to restore all i get is a white screen on the ipod and a error 21 on itunes. I have tried many methods to remove that error 21 but nothing has worked. So now I have a non responsive ipod that will not turn on or restore help please!!!
Any help will be welcomed and thanked!!!

  • Ipod Touch 5th Generation will not turn on, restore, or show up in itunes unless in DFU mode.

So a friend gave me his Ipod Touch 5th gen because he couldn't fix it himself and he bought a new one, and while I'm stoked to have a near brand-new Ipod touch, it's also frustrating me to the point I'm ready to give up on it aswell and pass it down the line. I'm not sure what he did to it, he says it just stopped working but you never know.
Anyways, the problem is that it simply does not turn on regardless of what I do to it. When I plug it into the computer, it gets warm; usually a sign it's charging fine. However, it doesn't show up on Itunes. I read some forum posts and searched around other places aswell, and tried putting it into DFU/Recovery(not sure which is which anymore, it's the one where you hold down the power button for 3 seconds, then home+power for 10, then home button for 20). It showed up on Itunes, and said it needed to restore. I downloaded the 1.2gb update it needed, but then it hung at the "Waiting for Ipod" progress bar. As it does this, I get maybe 3-5 Windows 'bing' sounds of a connecting/disconnecting device, ending on a disconnect sound. Itunes eventually times out the restore with an error code 4005, which I read means the Ipod has been disconnected in the middle.
After this, it doesn't show up on Itunes and I have to repeat the process to get it to show up again. I tried it a third time just now and it's still doing the same thing.
Any ideas? Really at the end of the line on ideas I think.
    Please and thanks,
    -Cody
P.S. I don't know if it matters but the warmth is coming from the top/camera end fo the Ipod. Not sure where the battery is versus the CPU, but maybe that'll help the diagnosis.
P.S.S. Also, when it shows up in Itunes in recovery mode, it doesn't show a serial number, so I don't think an Apple store would even work on it without a serial #.

If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.

Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
    Try on another computer.

  • My ipod touch 5th generation will not turn on.

I purchased this Ipod Touch and recieved it around Christmas time. I have had it for around 3 months and everything was working fine. The first time this happened I purchased another lightning cord, which then again happened. So over the course of 3 months I have gone through 3 cords. The one that came with it and two I pruchased from Walmart. When I plug my ipod into an IHome, Computer, or lightning cord to wall adapter it doesn't charge. The screen is black and when I click the home button the battery shows up with the red line and lightning bolt. I left my ipod on the charger overnight and it still will not charge. I also tried the home and sleep buttons without success. I did not save my paperwork like an idiot but I still have the box it came in when I purchased it. Please help,

  • My ipod touch 4th generation will not turn on

I was using it for like 5 minutes and I put it away in the side compartment of my backpack and when I went to use it like two hours later it would not turn on, the low battery image did come up and even when I plugged it into my ipod dock it still did not come on, now I have it plugged into my computer and still nothing. I bought it when it first came out about october or november I think. I guess my question is will the replace it because I didn't do anything to cause this to happen.

Well there is one thing you can try... hold down the home button and lock/sleep button at the same time and don't forget to hold it. It should turn on. (By the way what you are doing is a restart, if you were on your iPod Touch on the home screen and you did thins it would reboot, and that is exactly why you are doing this)

  • 2nd Generation Will not turn on when not connected to laptop or docking station?

Looking for advice to fix my 2nd generation nano.  Could it be a battery issue?  Can the battery be replaced?  It is fully charged when removed from the docking station?  Help!!!

If you update the iPod software to the latest version (1.1) you should be able to power off the iPod. If that doesn't work especially since you restored it's most likely a hardware issue with the iPod. If so, contact AppleCare or visit an Apple Retail Store so they can setup a repair for you.
