My I Pod touch 4th gen does not display as connected when I enter i Tunes

My I Pod touch 4th gen does not display as connected when I enter i Tunes, although my battery is being charged and my computer recognizes it, the problem persists. I have also tried the apple troubleshoot for this, but it hasn't worked.

What Apple troubleshooting did you try?  This one?

An "other" that large usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.  Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
    To restore from backup see:

  • My iPod touch 4th gen does not connect to itunes

Okay, so I never had problems with my iTunes until recently. Whenever I connect my iPod 4th gen into the computer, it connects and charges but doesn't show up in my iTunes. My iPod works and everything, it just won't connect to iTunes. I reinstalled iTunes completely like it said in support, and I have restarted Apple Mobile Device, several times. I have the current iTunes 10.4 too. Does it have anything to do with connecting my iPad 2 into the iTunes? Because it was fine up until I had done so. Also, when I check my services the Apple Mobile Device service is stopped when I connect my iPod. Before it, it says running though. My iPod will also connect to other computers, just not my own. All other computers have also not had the iPad 2 connected to it. Any thoughts? I would really like to sync my games and music to my library again, without having to go to my sibiling's computer.

Did you try to create a new user account in Windows, set up your iTunes account, disable autosync and connect your ipod? Try to transfer your purchases and back up manually before your sync for the first time. And don't forget to set up at least one contact and event in Woindows, to ba able to merge contacts and calendars.
If this works, try to do the same for your ipad. If still ok, you might have to remove all Apple related Software for your other account, as described here: Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Did you also check your security software settings?
    Additional Information
If the Apple Mobile Device Service still will not start, or if it stops unexpectedly, this could be caused by third-party security software. Please follow iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen Does Not Sync

Basically had an black iPod 4th generation for 2 years this christmas. It worked perfectly til September last year and the suddenly out of no where it seemed to stop syncing. I click the sync button and it seems to either do nothing and the sync button becomes unable to click again or it starts to sync and then just stops. My iPod is also does not back up, or sync ANYTHING. Im finding this really stressful as i can't use my iPod to the full ability. Ive done updates with my iPod and my iTunes, everything is up to date and i have also tried many other iPods which worked fine with my iTunes, i did this to make sure it was my iPod which was the problem. Some one please help my dodgy iPod!!!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

My i pod touch 4th gen. is in recovery mode. I am trying to back it up using i tunes but the option for backup is not highlighted. I am at a loss as to what I should do. I do not want to lose all of my pictures. I tried holding down the on/off button with the home button but that does not work. Keeps the touch in the same recovery mode. Suggestions??

No. If the photos are in a backup you made already then you can get them back by restoring from backup.
If they are in your PhotoStream you can get them from your stream. See that topic of:

I am having the same problem (lost in back-up purgatory) on both my iPhone 4 and my iPad2.  I am running Windows XP.
I have tried everything I've seen suggested on various support communities, with no success.
I have gotten used to having to find a windows workaround everytime Apple updates iTunes, and this time it is especially frustrating.
I don't have any solutions, and I am responding to all of these types of messages in hopes of finding something that will work for me.
One person was able to work through it by deleting all of the previous iTunes backup files.  I'm trying that now.  4 hours into it, and it does not seem to be working......

My ipod touch 4th gen will not turn on, i have held the power and home buttons, i have plugged my ipod into itunes and tried again, yet nothing happens, what should i do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Otherwise you are out of luck. Apple is not making any more update for the 4G.
Also check with Phillips. Maybe they have an firmware update available
