My i tunes freezes everytime i open it

Ive used I tunes on my laptop ever since i got it which was in July and never had a problem. Always kept updating it ect. Now it opens up and i dont get no error msg it just says in the lil info bar "gathering information from your library" somethin to do with genius. Yet it doesnt do anything just sits there and u cant click on anything. Ive tried downloadin a new i tunes ect but nothing works. Any help would be greatly appreciates as im going insane trying 2 solve this! Thanks

Everytime I open I Tunes on my computer it freezes before I can do anything. The second I click on it to do anything it says, "program not responding." I tried to open the program on another account on my computer and it runs with no problems.
Good job with the troubleshooting so far. You've ruled out a bunch of stuff already.
I'd skip straight to the "User-specific troubleshooting" section of the following document:

  • Quicktime freezes everytime I open it. Windows don't close. How do I fix this?

Quicktime freezes everytime I open it. Windows with previously watched videos keep opening. When I close them, and when the only one I wish to watch is left, it freezes and I have to force quit. A window of that video is then added to the many that open upon starting up next time.

Here's a few things I try when an app misbehaves and crashes.
    1. Quit the app and restart it like this: Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it work like normal.
    2. If the first suggestion did not work try quitting the app again but instead of restarting it right away, reset your device like this: Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. Ten restart the app and see if it works.
    3. If neither of the previous suggestions worked I suggest deleting the app by tapping and holding on the app until it jiggles and displays a Rex X. Tap the X and confirm that you want to delete the app. Then reset your device. After the device has restarted go to the App Store and download Facebook again.
If all these fail you might just have to search for an alternative app until Facebook fixes the problem.

  • Macbook freezes everytime I open the finder or use spotify! Really only happens when I scroll down past downloads folder, advice?

My Macbook 3.1 freezes eveytime I open the finder and scroll down to the downloads folder. I was attempting to clean out my mail downloads and all the stuff that seems to accumulate there so the folder is open. As soon as I go near it the whole things freezes up! The funny thing is that when I open the finder its fine so long as I stay clear of that folder or any of the items in it. Any advice? Am running 10.5.8 and would like to upgrade, that is why I was clearing files!

Office 2008 isn't exactly "clean". Office loves to install all sorts of fonts, and always because it is such a big application, it needs patches to work properly. Get the latest patches from http://www.microsoft.com/mac/
    Or get an alternative application*:

ONce opened mail freezes and the wheel spins. In the Window menu there are 12-15 message viewers, telling me that are open, but do not appear anywhere on the finder. It appears that it maybe a conflict of some sort, but I can not figure it out. No updates have been made recently, mail has just got slower and slower to now where it won't let me do anything? System software is up to date and running on 10.6.8. Really don't want to have to go through the reinstalling process, can anyone help?

    2. Go to Preferences > Junk Mail and disable junk mail filtering.
    3. Go online again.
    4. Reset the junk mail filtering

  • Dreamweaver freezes everytime I open a certain file

Hi, I have this problem with a file that's very annoying. I'm working on:
    - a Mac OS X 10.7.3
    - processor 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
    - Dreamweaver CS6 version 12.0 (mainly, but it also happens on CS3 too)
    - it's a 10 kb HTML file linked with:
    - CSS stylesheet and several images
    - and fontkit from squirrelfont webfont kit and google webfont.
    I have tried to :
    - delete the MacFileCache and the folder in my personal configuration,
    - uninstall and reinstall the program,
    - Disable Dreamweaver's Resolve To IP Address by modifying Adobe Dreamweaver CS Prefs file,
But it's still not working. I think it's something to do with my own file because I tried to open other files in dreamweaver and they worked just fine.
These happened not only in Dreamweaver CS6 but also the previous CS3.
The thing is I don't know how to put/display the codes in here...
Please help me,  I'm on my deadline so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi, sorry for the late reply. The file is actually a homepage of my website, however there is no actual website since I'm only asked to create the homepage.
I can open it with text editor programs, but they only display the output not the actual source code...

Thanks for your help. I posted my own question about this problem and found another photographer experiencing the same problem. We still haven't solved it. I have 4GB of ram which I assumed was enough for Aperture, photoshop, etc...It's the 3GHz (2)Quad Core Intel Xeon processor, my video card is the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB. I have tried reinstalling Aperture as described in the Aperture support page where I removed the pkg files and preferences and updates and then reinstalled. All the things I try fix the problem of Aperture not running, until I try to import and then everything seizes up all over again. (In the exact same way). Could this be from the latest update 2.1? I wasn't having the problem before that, and it happened on my first import after installing the update. I'm about to abandon Aperture for Lightroom, even though that will mean a lot more work for me. I just don't have time for this. Anyway, thanks again, and anything else you could tell me would be greatly appreciated.
Regarding Lightroom, I suggest you download it and try it if you haven't. It is a great program (I use it along side Aperture 2 at the moment), but it has a somewhat different methodology to it.
Regarding your troubles with Aperture, I wish I could help more. Sorry.

  • My FF is freezing everytime I open something. I have to swipe the track pad to get it going again.

I have this problem on every sight I go on. It keeps needing me to move my mouse or it freezes.
Is it something wrong with FF itself or is it a laptop problem on my end?

hello bsz_nodak, this is unfortunately a known regression in firefox 25 that is affecting a small portion of users. there is an update to firefox 25.0.1 in the making, which fixes the problem & should go out to all users via auto-update tomorrow.
you can also use the firefox beta version from mozilla.org/beta - it shouldn't be affected by the issue either.

  • My Macbook pro keeps freezing everytime I open Spotify or Steam. Has never done this before, help?

So every time I try to open Spotify or Steam (a video game application) my computer becomes unresponsive to everything but the mouse. I can move the mouse around but nothing is clickable. It just started doing this yesterday and those are two applications I use very frequently so if someone could please help that'd be great! I've already tried the command alt P R thing and safe mode with no luck.

I have this problem too! It *****, because I LOVE GAMING! D:

  • My camera freezes Everytime I open it. What could I do?

    Help me!

I've tried that. I've restored it, updated my software several times, taken it to the apple store. I've done pretty much everything. I've been using apple products for a while and know the ins and outs but have never encountered this issue. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to buy a new phone and really hate that I can't use the camera.

  • Everytime i open a powerpoint file on my imac it freezes and i cannot close it down or work on it...

WHy does a powerpoint file freeze everytime i open it on my imac...

Please do NOT post your question multiple times in different threads.
One possibility is that the version of Powerpoint installed on your Mac is enough older than the version of Powerpoint on the PC used to create the file  that it cannot read it.
    Hope this helps

    Thank you. Nick

Okay, we'll try the technique from the following post. Be sure to be logged in to your usual user account when doing so. (Otherwise you'll be editing the wrong set of HKEY_CURRENT_USER keys.)
Re: How do I turn off the compatibility mode for ITunes.
Does that clear up the compatibility message?
