=( My iBook is still dead!!! (with included symptoms of a dying iBook)

I bought my iBook last May2004. I loved my iBook and took really good care of it. After one year of usage, all of a sudden my iBook stopped working -- a month after my warranty had expired... It all started with the "sleeping problem" -- when it didn't want to go to sleep even after my lid was already down... there were even times when it got really hot in my bag because it didn't sleep... then sooner the problem got worst... it wouldn't boot normaly -- it would boot 1 out of 4 times of trying to boot-it-up... I also got the weird screen with different funky colors... then one day, all I hear is my iBooks fan when I press the power button... I brought it to the Mac Shop in the Philippines and they are charging me about P30,000 ($555-US) because they said it "might" be the logic board. I decided not to get it fixed here because I couldn't afford such amount... when I went to pick it up and got their invoice, their invoice mentioned "probable logic board failure"... the word "probable" kinda smells fishy... did they really check what was the problem?... ANYWAYS,... 5 after I took it back from the shop I decided to remove the battery and let it sit there for awhile...3 months after, I used my power cord to power up my laptop and used my boot cd to boot up my iBook...supprisingly, it worked... then I decided to shut my laptop off and get my battery charging... after my battery was fully charged, i turned my laptop on again and it was still working... , i unplugged my power cord and left my laptop running on battery and it still worked...BUT,... when I got tired of enjoying my again working iBook, I put my laptop in a sleep mode by closing its lid... then its LCD lights didn't automaticaly turn-off like usual even if the lid was already down... so I opened it again and pressed my space button to try to get it running but now it just went to a blank screen... again, all I hear is a fan when I turn it on and that was the last of it working... what's up with my beloved iBook?... I personaly know 7 other people (friends)experiencing the problem -- not including those I've meet in the internet -- you don't wanna know how many they are. PLEASE HELP! MY iBOOK is still DEAD!!!!!!
Note: Phrases that are underlined and are in bold letters are the usual symptoms of a dying iBook G4. Believe me. I've search all over this discussion board since 2005 and all I see are people expressing their deep sorrow and grief about their dead iBook G4. I miss me iBook so much and all that is in it. It is still sitting in my bag waiting to be resurrected. A few days ago I planned to get a MacBook because I really missed my iBook, but upon stumbling upon this Discussion Board again, I still feel much dissatisfaction from both old and new users of iBooks and MacBooks -- from the same logic board issues. I dare you find it out yourself by surfing around this Discussion Board.

To those who's iBook still works: "You're one of the lucky few...but just wait...huh."
To those who are planning to buy one: "True. iBooks and MacBooks are really cool with very cool design and very good OS. But my friend, think it over plenty of times. Im not telling you to not buy one but its really painful to wake-up one day and your beloved iBook/MacBook is DEAD and its now just as useful as a paperweight or probably a doorjam or maybe even a cutting board. Believe me, I know."
Unless APPLE would decide to backup their systems with a 3year warranty(WHY NOT?), I wouldn't....

on some G4 iBooks similar problems could be caused by display cables - they wear out and can cause electric short
or color issues.
in any case it supposed to be diagnosed properly.

    Pictures, assuming they were taken with the device, can be copied off at any time.  This has nothing to do with syncing.
    If the pictures were instead synced to the device via iTunes, they are not the original images.  Instead, they are optimized copies of the originals for display on the iPhone.  There is software that can extract them, google it.
    Where is the backup of the computer?  And before you ask, the iPhone, like all iDevices, is not and has never been a backup device.

    Well, as a much published author in the traditional sense I would see it this way. Publishers like control and if you exercise your digital rights and publish with an ISBN then you will be limiting what they can do - unless you then agree a digital rights deal. Personally, anything I publish as an ebook I assume is not goint to get published traditionally unless of course it makes big buck and is then optioned. Don't worry about it - if you want to continue pitching books to publishers do so but come clean when they write and say they want to publish you - if they dont then no loss on your part. Honesty is the best policy here.

    The reason I ask is that I have just gotten an iPhone 4S and with the 10.4.1 software I'm running now, it doesn't allow my iTunes to update to the newer version.  Therefore, being stuck with an older version of iTunes, it refuses to recognize the new iPhone and will only charge it rather then be able to add music to it.

    I used the List Tile View with include rule in Agentry 6.0 on WinCE before to generate "selected" object list upon different conditions, e.g., assigning tasks based on scenarios.
    Currently, I am experimenting the same function on iOS tablet.
    On the start screen which is a detailed screen for main object, there is a List Tile View and an include rule. However, the objects in the tile list are not updated correctly when the output of the rule changes. Note that the same include rule works perfectly with a List View for the same collection.
    To my observation, the problem seems to associated with "update" of the tiles when result of include rule changes. For example, in scenario 1, there are 5 objects in the list; switching to scenario 2, there are 10 objects. From the No.6 to No.10, the objects are correct. The No.1 to No.5 are still the original 5 objects for scenario 1.
    When the user clicks on tiles, it makes the situation worse. Normally, a single object's tile will always be shown in the selected tile regardless which tile is selected from the list.
    My development environment is 6.0.40 and the client is 6.0.40 on iPad (iOS 7.1). I would like to know whether this is a known issue before I provide more details.

    When I asked the question on this list tile view refreshing issue, my dev environment is Agentry 6.0.38.
    In Agentry 6.0.40.1's release note, there is a fixed
    AG-25821  iOS 7 refresh issue with iPad tile list
    However, I currently have Agentry 6.0.42.1 on iPad (iOS 7.1.2). And my editor/server is 6.0.42.0. I still have the list tile view refreshing issue. The same rule can be used on list without any problem. But the list tile still has trouble on display the right set of objects.
    My question is is that fix related to the problem I saw?

  • Still image with motion has flicker pulsating problem

    I use FCP 5.0.4
    I have read the many threads about this subject and am still not able to succeed in getting rid of the flicker/pulsating in a still image with motion.
    I would say about 25% of the stills with motion have the jitters; all the rest look great.
    The first thing I tried was
    Effects:Video Filters:Video:Field Shift:none
    as well as
    Effects:Video Filters:Video:Flicker Filter min, med, and max.
    Maybe 5% were corrected with this, but the other 20% still had the jitters even after using a combination of the above or by themselves.
    I just burned a test DVD using a variety of the persistently jittery stills from my current project and although the jitters change a bit, they were still there so all of these failed:

    2. Effects:Video Filters:Video:De-interlace Flicker Filter minimal

    I know this issue has been kicked around a lot and i know some folks are not happy that it has to be kicked around at all. But I am doing something wrong because my DVDs look very un-PRO. Would anyone like to talk me through this nightmare preferably with as many details as possible since I am obviously missing something critical.

    There is no 'secret formula'. It just takes thinking through the issues.
    1. Set the image size for each image that makes sense within the context of your project. Going significantly larger than the displayed area of that image (including movement) is just asking FCP to do additional work to resize the image. FCP is less sophisticated at resizing images than Photoshop. Use Photoshop and your planning of the movie to get the images to the appropriate size.
    2. Wasted effort and totally irrelevant- you could set it to 7200 dpi if it makes you feel better.
    3. Good idea - be sure to knock down areas of pure or very bright white. These are the elements that will give you the most trouble.
    4. Don't do this unless you want to throw away HALF the picture information. Deinterlace deletes half the picture and then photoshop recreates it through interpolation of the remaining half of the picture. Why do this?
    5. Make your determination based on what works. If you have properly exposed and sized the material, the need to blur is greatly reduced. ONLY do it on the images that need it. Why degrade every image if you do not need to do so?
    6. See number 5
    7. Lay out your time line early, view the work on an external broadcast monitor and only mess about with the images that require it.
    In the psycho business they have term for much of the referenced post - it's called superstitious behavior. Basically it comes down to "It worked before so we recommend it to everyone without regard to their situation" ... here's another example:
    Many years ago in my architecture practice, we had one of the early 512k macs (upgraded from the 128k!) I needed to show one of the interns how to create a project budget spread sheet in Excel. Inadvertently I clicked on Word, said "oops", closed it and opened Excel and we went to work.
    A week later I was walking by the computer and overheard the same intern explaining how to work with Excel to another architect. "First you open Word, close it, THEN you open Excel", she explained. When asked by her 'trainee', why do you have to open Word first, wouldn't it just be easier to simply open Excel? Her answer was just perfect, "Well, it works every time, what's wrong with that?" so it goes ...

The automation .swc files that come with Flex Builder 3(C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\sdks\3.0.0\frameworks\libs) are not present in the latest releases. Should I just be able to reference these files from the sdk 3.0.0.477 flex-config.xml file? I get a compile error when I do so. I'm able to include these files in version 3.0.0 successfuly.

    Certainly. For now, though, I'd consider it a bonus that it can boot into/run with either SL or Lion, and Lion is included with any Mac purchased at this time.

    when we create SO with ATP check to reserve the qty of the currenct stock, we also want to know the future qty of purchase orders so that we can clearly know the supply and demand of these materials.
    so we use ATP check with including purchase order, that users can reserve the qty of open GR purchase orders.
    but when the status of that PO changed, the reserved qty before won't have effect, and can't create outbound delivery either.
    there are two examples below:
    1. there is one SO reserved 10 material qty of the open GR PO, which it's scheduled delivery date is 5/15. but this PO still hasn't  goods receipt until 5/17, cause ATP check rule is "Include future receipts only" ( if "Receipts in the past as well as in the future" is set, it will be confused with current stock qty), so these 10 qty won't have effect and the ATP qty is now a negative. we should only reserve again by t-code V_V2, otherwise all the reserved qty can't be deliveried.
    2.there is one SO reserved 10 material qty of the open GR PO, which it's scheduled delivery date is 5/15, but when the delivery date of confirms tab is updated by vendor, these reserved qty before will also be invalid.
    please tell me how to resolve these problems?

    If the business wants to confirm the sales order quantity against the incoming purchase orders, then this always happen. The issue can be resolved only by rescheduling the sales order by running V_V2 everyday.
    Alternatively you can suggest the business to exclude the purchase order from availabilty check(AC)  in t.code OVZ9 and include shipping notification in it. When the vendor sends some materials confirmation, the purchasing can add the shipping notificatoin details in the purchase order and can create Inbound deliveries for goods receipt. By this way, only when the vendor ships the goods, the quantity will be taken into AC.

    I am still running with 0002 driver because 0004 is terrible for me... no sound at all or crackling popping sound, awful! The 0002 works with some games but with others i get a lot of blue screens and process has locked pages. When will there be a driver for me that works I can't beli've it's been over a year now and still no working driver Anyone knows of a working soundcard for Vista 64. I had it now, dammit Creative!

    iPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, exporting, saving edits and sharing the photos.

    You have to hook it up to a computer and update it to ios 5 and then there will be a "software update" button.

  • How to make a podcast with one still image with iMovie 09

    I'm using trying to transfer my podcasts to Vimeo. I've been using iWeb to create a person web site with video and podcasts. I have embedded Vimeo with "html snippet widge." I want to do the same thing with audio, however Vimeo only accept "video" files.
    In my attempt to work around Vimeo's video issues, I had the idea to use iMovie 09 to create a "video file" using a single still image with my audio podcast play in the background. The single image would be consistent for the entire length of the audio. It seems simple...one still image file and one audio file.
    All of my audio files are less than 45 minutes in length. The problem is that when I insert an image in iMovie I can't get it to last for more than 10:00 minutes of my podcast. I've had to drag the same image over several times, extend each image's length to 10:00 minutes until I have enough images to last the full length of the audio file.
    I'm sure there's a simple way to do this with one image, used one time, and have the audio added.
    Anyone understand my situation and have a good idea?

    Put all your clips into a new iMovie project, in the order you wish them to play. Use the chapters tab and add chapter markers for each clip (except the first one; iDVD will add that one for you). Close iMovie.
    Open an new iDVD project. Use the Media tab, then Movies, to locate your new iMovie. Drag and drop it onto the main iDVD window, taking care not to drop it into a drop zone. You should then see the title of your movie and the two options: Play Movie (which will play all the clips sequentiallly) and Scene Selection (which will take you to submenu(s) where you can select which clip to view).
