My iBooks were fine yesterday, today unable to read, message comes up; failure to load book because requested resource is missing".  What do they want?

My iBooks were fine yesterday, today unable to get into book, message comes up, "failure to load book because requested resource missing"
It doesn't tell me what resource is missing, & why could I read this 12 hours ago fine.

I've got a solution, it's not so perfect, but i bet someone would come out with a better one based on mine.
Solution:
Step 1: close iBooks app and delete all existing book data
Since I have recently lost all files in my ibooks library due to something wrong with Time Machine backup, I could delete all my book data without anything to worry about.
I deleted all files in:
/Users/[usename]/Library/Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService/Data/Documents/iBoo ks
and the iBook configuration files (well, the whole folder):
/Users/zlw/Library/Containers/com.apple.iBooksX
It doesn't matter if you have deleted the whole iBooksX folder, what you would lose at most is the bookmark data, etc.
deleting all the files inside the iBooks folder of BKAgentService will enable you to redownload the file that you want correctly.
Step 2:
reopen iBooks and you will be able to download the book that you want.
Possible improvement:
there is a Books.plist file in the iBooks folder of BKAgentService, it might be possible to modify the plist and and the folders so that it's not necessary to delete them all.

  • HT1904 My iBooks say failed to load book because requested resource is missing? ?

I purchased three books that won't let me have access. Give me an error message that says "failed to load book because requested resource is missing. How do I resolve this problem?

    Hello Akiva 1959,
It sounds like you have made some purchases in iBooks, and when you try to download them you get this error message that the resource cannot be found. I would report this issue to our iTunes Store support directly with this article:
How to report an issue with your iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, or iBooks Store purchase
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1933
To report an issue with your iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, or iBooks Store purchase, follow these steps:
Find the email receipt for your purchase.
Click Report a Problem under the app that is having the issue.
When prompted, enter the Apple ID and password you used to purchase the item, then click Report a Problem.
Click Report a Problem next to the item you are having an issue with.
From the Choose Problem dropdown menu, choose the appropriate issue.
Follow the onscreen instructions and—if prompted—type a description of the problem into the text field.
Click Submit to have your issue reviewed.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • I am unbale to read my downloaded Ibooks on my Ipad mini. message says ' failed to load book because requested resource is missing" ?

i am unable to see downloaded iooks on my ipad

You have to be at your original source where you downloaded your iTunes account (mine was my home computer).  Delete the iBooks app, turn off your iPad. When you are back home or where you originally downloaded iTunes re-download the iBooks app. All your purchases will be there, deleting app does not delete your purchases but you may have to re-download all your books again.  The key is to be at the original iTunes download spot.  Good luck.

If you can't open a particular ibook then try deleting it from the bookshelf via the Edit button at the top right of the bookshelf, and (assuming that it's still in your country's store) redownload it via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the app (or if you have a copy of it on your computer's iTunes library sync it back from there).

Quit the iBooks app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logou appears and let go of the button.
Or try deleting the book and download it again. You can download it again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID.
If that doesn't work either, sometimes deleting the iBooks app and reinstalling it may work. But art with the first two suggestions.

  • Book won't open in ibooks receive this message failed to load book because the requested resource is missing

Receive this message when I try and open a book " failed to load book because the requested resource is missing" I have deleted the book and deleted Ibooks and still keep getting this message. Any ideas on what I should do.

I have tried deleting and redownloading  a few times and still won't work.  At one point, I had two icons for the same book, both acting in the same manner.  This is just one of many issues I am having with iPad mini. Do you have another suggestion for fixing this?

  • Unable to read messages in PC Suite

    Good afternoon.
I have done a search for similar threads on this topic but have been unable to find any.
Currently using Windows 2000 Pro, PC Suite 6.82.22.0 and bluetooth connection to Nokia 6230i.
My problem is that I have some messages that are quite long and have been received as 3-4 seperate messages instead of just one. When I read these on the handset they are combined into one message, but if I try and read them in PCsuite I don't even get to see them.
What I really want to do is to be able to read these and back them up.
Does anyone know what is happening and what I can do about it?
    Thanks.

I installed the latest PC suite on my wife's computer and tried to load up messages from her phone.  It failed and I was told to make sure I was using both the latest versions of software for PC suite and the phone. I am.  I can load messages from my phone (the same model) on an earlier version of PC suite. I would like to contact Nokia support but cannot because the contact button goes round in a circle asking me to select my phone each time I click on contact and it goes no further. Any suggestions?

Wow, Karan Taneja, you've just embarrassed yourself on a worldwide support forum.  Not only is your post ridiculous and completely inappropriate for a technical support forum, but it also shows your ignorance as to whom you think the audience is.  Apple is not here.  It's users, like you.
If you would have spent half the time actually reading the Terms of Use of this forum that YOU agreed to by signing up to post, as you did composing that usesless, inappropriate post, you (and the rest of us on this forum) would have been much better off.

  • After working fine yesterday, today AppleTV won't recognize same iPhoto file. What to do?

I have a 120 gig iPhoto file on an external hard drive connected to my iMac.  For the last several times, the file has shown up and run perfectly on AppleTV.  Today however, AppleTV doesn't pick it up.  Although "Sharing" is checked on both the Apple TV and the computer's iTunes, instead of opening the iPhoto file, Apple TV keeps directing me to Open up Sharing in iTunes and click on the pix I want.  I have done this repeatedly (and clicked on show all as well) with no result.
    What to do?

I use Quicken 2007 and in my documents folder there is a Quicken Backup Folder that appears to update every time I quit Quicken. In the Files menu there are backup, restore, and save a copy commands.  Maybe if you save a copy manually, it will not be corrupt. If that is the case, then try reloading the Quicken program. It is possible you got a corrupt download.
If you monitor the "More Like This" box, other threads appear. Opening them usually displays other threads. It appears you may be doing that since you found the link you posted.
