My Ical doesn't work

I been having problems with my Ical. I can enter in events in the actual calendar part. But I can't do other things, like minimize ical or close it out put clicking on the red x. The only thing I can do is go to the menu and select quit Ical.
I think this must be corrupt or something. Does anyone have any suggestions? Do I have to reinstall this completely or do something in the preference folders? I have the latest update with mac and have the Mac OS X 10.5.6.
Please email if possible if anything I can do to have a working ical. <Edited by Moderator>

I would advise against including your email address in the text of your post. It is also expected that responses to Apple Discussions questions be supplied via the Forum. That way anyone else experiencing the same, or similar problem can also be offered possible solutions.
I would suggest several steps to help you solve your problem.
1. Use Disk Utility to "Repair Disk Permissions."
2. Quit iCal and find the com.apple.iCal.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Drag the file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart and check iCal for normal behavior.
3. Download and reapply the OS X 10.5.6 Combo Update.

I had some initial problems with iCal too. At least for me deleting the prefs file solve them. The file is: com.apple.iCal.plist and it is in your Library/Preferences folder
The other thing your problem appears to be connecting to the server is to quit Calendar and then open System Preferences, select the Internet Accounts, and toggle off the Calendar checkmark of each of your calendar accounts. Quit System Preferences. Start the calendar. Since you've turned off the calendar server accounts there should be no beachballing. Quit, return to System preferences and re-enable one calendar account at a time. (This assumes that you are using more than iCloud Calendar) and then start Calendar again. And finally, for one particularly obnoxious iCloud issue I wound up deleting my iCloud account in System Preferences and then recreating it. (Same account name, etc, I just killed the account on my computer so I could start out with fresh preferences).

Search in ical doesn't work

I am using 10.7.4 and my iCal search doesn't work. When I type in a search term, the results pane is blank.

Find Command in iCal doesn't work

I have tried to use the Find Command in iCal. It doesn't work either from the Edit pull down command nor the keyboard command. Please try this in your setup and tell me whether it works?
I have an Intel Mac Mini running 10.4.9.

It works for me.
Find will only search in selected calendars. Do you have the relevant calendars checked in the calendar list? (you can select all calendars by Command-Clicking one checkbox)

As you say the link doesn't work; neither does its originating domain alone. The note on the page concerned says that the calendar is valid only for 2010 and 2011, so evidently it's been withdrawn and not updated by its originator. I'm afraid that a number of the links on Apple's page have gone dead.

Syncing from iphone to ical doesn't work

In my syncing trials, I can't seem to figure out why my Calendar on my iPhone won't sync with my iCal or MobileMe.
My Google calendar syncs fine as well as iCal to MobileMe. There's something going with the process between the phone & computer.
Does anyone have a solution?

I upgraded to IOS 7.0.3, OSX 10.9 and itunes 11.1.2-

After I replaced my iphone 5s, I restarted icloud on my mac. Now ical doesn't work I get error 403

I got a new iphone. Changed from an iphone 5 to iphone 5s. I had trouble with the sync, and in the midst of it I signed out of icloud on my mac. It told me it would delete everything from my mac. I signed out anyway. Now that I've signed back on, I cannot use my ical app. I get an error "403" to operation CalDAVMigrateToServeQueueableOperation and the ical locks up and I have to force quit. I have tried to turn calendar off in settings, but it does not help. I can't find any help on the support pages on this. Seems people have problems like this, but there is no fix. The calendar on my new iphone is working, although, it's been over a week and it has still not fully restored my whole backup of the phone (32gig). Could that be part of the problem? I have been using my icloud calendar on my mac in the mean time, but I would like ical to work.

ICal doesn't work on my mac or iPhone

I cannot open iCal on either my mac or on my iphone. I can get the data from iCal when I use busycal. But there's no busycal version for the iPhone. The computer and iPhone otherwise is working alright. How do I reset?

ICal is broken since the update. Help!

I tried BusyCal and didn't like it so I followed directions to revert back to iCal and now iCal doesn't work.

iCal will launch but it is empty. I swipe and the events appear but I can't change them or add new ones. the + and Calendar on the upper left are sometimes there and sometimes not (multiple re-launches). Nothing will work. I click on the + or Calendars and nothing happens.
I followed the directions from BusyCal to revert and now iCal will not respond.

The version immediately prior to 12 was 11.4.0.18. Here are direct download links from Apple's servers:

"Hide reminders" in iCal doesn't work.

I upgraded my snow leopard to lion yesterday.
In iCal, I cannot hide reminders, even though I tried both menu option and hot key.
Anyone can fix it?

Application UI issues are in many cases, caused by a corrupt plist file.
Quit iCal, and try removing the com.apple.iCal.plist file from your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Since that Library is now hidden, you can use the Finder>Go Menu>Depress the "Option" key>Library. Drag the .plist file to your desktop, and log out/in or restart and check iCal for functionality.

Syncing with iCal doesn't work

When I try to sync my iPod with iCal it says that my iPod is synchronised and all the music appears there but no calendar entries or To Do list. Any suggestions?

Open iphoto, click on iphoto at the top and then choose preferences.
Bottom of box says connecting camera opens - you need to select iphoto.
