My iCal events appearing on a colleague's Mac

a colleague advised me that my iCal events were populating his iCal. Not just one item, but all of my appointments going back to at least the beginning of the year , client meetings, etc.
He was unable to edit the items.
None of my Calendars are shared.
Have you heard of anything like this? The ramifications are unsettling (thank goodness no appointments with NSA or Leather & Lace Boutique)

susanjoan50,
Go to iCloud.com on your computer. Log in and open the Calendar App, to verify that your events are still present. If so, follow the Calendars Archive/Copy procedure listed in iCloud: Archiving or making copies of your iCloud data.
Then Quit/Force Quit iCal on your computer, and paste this text ~/Library into the Finder>Go>Go to Folder...window and select "Go." This will open the Users Library Folder.
Next open the Calendars Folder in the User Library Folder and move any any files with "Cache" listed in the name field to your Desktop.
Also open the Preferences Folder in the same Library Folder, and move the com.apple.iCal.plist file to the Desktop.
Log out/in or restart, and open iCal.

  • All-day iCal events made on iPhone sync to Mac as one day late.

Had this problem a little while now, can't remember what started it, but it hasn't always been like this. I remember first being aware of it near the end of last year because I wondered if the problem might correct itself once 2011 began.
If I create an all-day event on the iPhone calendar, it will sync to the mac's iCal as being one day later. If I enter an event on my phone that's all day, Saturday the 5th of March, it will show up on my computer as Sunday the 6th.
Events which are not "all-day" are completely unaffected.
Both devices are set to the same time zone, with the iPhone having timezone support on and the mac having timezone support off. I've toyed with trying different combinations of these settings but nothing changes. I have to manually drag the mac iCal events one day earlier once they're synced. This fixes it, because it doesn't appear to then bump the iPhone copy of the event any earlier.
But that's a massive pain and I've lost faith in iCal as a timekeeping device. Anything glaringly obvious that I've missed?

I have this problem too. I have an iPhone 4, and this wasn't a problem when I bought the phone back in December. I think it came a month or so later and I suspect with a standard upgrade of something like itunes, or iphone software... but I can't pinpoint it to any specific update as it took me a while to notice it. For me, it does this with my work calendar which is run through Microsoft Outlook. But it's the exact same thing - and it means my calendar isn't reliable anymore.
I've made sure the time-zone settings are correct, I've updated all software, and gone through all possible settings for both my i-phone and Outlook. Nothing fixes the problem, even our tech guy at work didn't know what to do. I know it's not just my phone as the exact same thing has happened with my boss's iPhone which is an iPhone 3G, and it frustrates him to no end.
I'm really hoping someone at apple can tell us what's going on, especially since it never used to do this and there doesn't seem to be any way to fix it. If someone thinks they know what itunes update this was due to, let me know - I'll see if I can go back to that older version.

  • Ical events appear a day later on my mac than on my iphone

I have a problem whereby all of the events in ical on my mac appear a day late than what they should be. They are all fine and correct on my iphone. I've tried editing them but when I sync the iphone again they move again? Is there something in my setting that I'm missing?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Jay,
Is Time Zone support On for both devices?
On the iPhone tap Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Time Zone Support.
On the MacBook, launch iCal> click iCal> Preferences> Advanced> Turn on time zone support.
Also make sure the TimeZones matching on the iPhone and MacBook.
Just goto System Preferences on the Macbook> click Date & Time> Time Zone.
Tap Settings on the iPhone> Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Time Zone Support.
If the issue persists after verifying Time Zone Support is enabled on both devices and they are both set to the same Time Zone, try restoring the iPhone.
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 will walk you through restoring the iPhone.

  • Past iCal events not appearing on my new iPhone 5s.

Past iCal events appear on my Macbook Pro Cal, iCloud Cal online and my iOS 6 iPad but not on my new iOS 7 iPhone 5s. Ive checked all my Calendars in the Calendar app but still no joy.
I saw a past post about changing the name of the event and that will re sync it. I've tried it and it does work, but i've got hunders of past events from the last 3 years that i need to view.
    Any ideas??

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Contacts
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.
    Calendars
First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • IOS - iCal problem - Events appear as "all-day" whereas they shouldn't

See below a conversation I had with a service provider.
There is a bug in iOS when dealing with events in UTC times.
    Any solution to this?

    Hi,
I noticed a small problem with a calendar to which I subscribed on my iphone.
Events that are configured to last from 6.30pm to 7.30pm appears as Full-day events on iOs.
Thank you for reporting this issue. We're aware that IOS sometimes
misinterprets the iCal files we provide. It appears that it is reading
the times properly (as seen in the event detail and grid views), but is
mislabeling the events as all-day in the list view. Is this what you're
    seeing?
    Thank you
    Michael
    Exactly.
In the event's details, times are OK, but in the listing, event appears as all-day.
But why only for 6.30 to 7.30? When i change times to 5.30 to 6.30, it shows fine.
It appears to be related to the interpretation of time-zone information. We provide the game times in UTC format and count on your device's calendar program to make the appropriate adjustments for the local time zone. When the provided UTC times span two days (e.g. 11:30pm - 12:30 am, before time zone adjustment), IOS seems to mislabel the event as "all-day".
    Thank you.

  • Events appear twice on iCal

I have been using iCal for months, first on a PowerBook G4 and now on a MacBook pro, and I have not previously encounterd any problems with it.
All of a sudden today, I noticed that all of the events appear twcie. I don't know how long this has has been occuring, but I don't remember seeing it just a day or two ago.
Has anybody else seen this happen? Could it be something that I did? Does anybody know how to fix it (short of deleting the second occurrence for EVERY event manually)?

  • In mail "create new ical event" has stopped appearing in ical

Please help! I love clicking on data in email to bring up the "Create New iCal Event" box, and using it to put new events into my ical calendar. But recently when I "Create New iCal Event" from an email, and click "add to iCal" the window closes but the event doesn't show up in iCal. I can still add events by clicking on a calendar date in iCal and typing them in, but the link between Mail and iCal seems to be broken. How can I fix it?
Could this be related to how Firefox recently broke? Foxfire will not save bookmarks any more, either, I click on "Bookmarks," then "Bookmark this page". The window closes but the bookmark does not save. Also, the forward/backward browser arrows no longer work on Foxfire.

Could you be more specific? What happens (or fails to happen?)

  • Some events appear at wrong time when publishing to web

When I publish my calendar and then view it on the web, events I have created myself in iCal are shown at the correct time, but any events I have recieved from Evolution (the email/calendar application my colleagues use) as an .ics file are shown exactly 8 hours later than they should be. Perhaps it's a coincidence that this is the exact time difference between the UK (where I live and work) and West Coast USA?
Just to make it clear: all events appear correctly in iCal and, if I send a subscribe email to myself and then subscribe to the published calendar, they also appear correctly in iCal. The only place where they appear at the wrong times is in the http://ical.mac.com/<username>/<calendarname> address, and it's only events that I have recieved via email.
Is there a workaround for this that doesn't involve asking my colleagues to change settings on their Ubuntu workstations? Perhaps it's a problem with Apple's ical website that they need to fix? Either way, it makes the business of publishing my calendars largely useless.

    Bernard Harte wrote:
It's likely that the problem is due to an incompatibility between the way that the two systems define time zones.
This is what I thought, but iCal itself seems to cope with this, whereas the .Mac iCal web server doesn't, which is a shame.
I suspect that you don't have time zone support switched on in the Advanced tab of Preferences. If you don't, try switching it on and then looking at one of your events and one of the rogue ones in the edit window. You'll probably see a difference in time zones - i.e. that the rogue ones are in US Pacific zone.
I switched on time zone support, but it didn't change any of the events in iCal at all; i.e., the "rogue" events still show at the correct time (and the incorrect time on the iCal web server).
If this guess is correct, you will need to get your colleagues to change their time zone since iCal and ical.mac.com are behaving as they should.
They are all on the same timezone as me - Europe/London (which is currently on DST).
If the guess isn't correct, report back and we'll work on a solution
Then I look forward to hearing from you!

Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this?

First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Ical events showing in week view as an hour later than the details in event

    Hi all,
I've just been upgrading my ical / mobileme and I can't figure this out. All time zones are set to London-UK. If I look up appointments in week view all my calendars are colour coded. One particular calendar appears 1hr late with appointments. When I go into the details of this even it show correct time. For example. Kids school looks like it's in for 9:50 in week view but when I go into appointment it reads the correct time of 08:50?
    Any ideas. Thanks

    Andrew,
Is there any way of dragging and dropping an iCal event showing in week view across to a date in the left sidebar monthly calendar?
No, but you can use cut/paste. Cut (⌘X) the event, then click on the week where you want to move the event, and Paste (⌘V).
If you have a suggestion for Apple to change that method use: Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback.

  • ICal events missing and wrong

I use iCal on my Mac and Calendar on my iPhone all synced with MobileMe CalDav. I have a lot of recurring events. Everything looks fine until October 2011. Almost the entire month is blank in iCal on the Mac. I know there should be events during the whole month (something almost every day). When I look at the web version on MobileMe, the events are there, but starting on or about October 15, they are all shifted to the next day. So, my normal 8-5 M-F job looks like a Tuesday through Saturday job. The iPhone matches the web view on MobileMe. The same thing is happening to my wife's calendar, which is set up the same way. The strange thing is that by November, it is all back to normal. I have the time zone set to Brasilia time on MobileMe and in iCal and the only thing that I can think of is a bizarre Daylight Savings Time bug (DST starts this year in Brazil on Oct. 16). Strange that it would affect the whole month on iCal, only part of the month on MobileMe. I am unable to add an event on October 16 from any device, which is too bad as that is my wife's due date and I would like to note it. The event moves to the 15th. If I switch to Day view in iCal and start in early October, the events appear, but it won't let me move past October 15. iCal will crash.
    Any ideas?

I mean look at how crazy this is (from the MobileMe calendar web view). The 15th appears twice and every date after it is on the wrong day of the week. If I view November, it goes back to normal.

  • ICal events duplicated, missing in iPhoto calendar

It's that time of year again, when I make my annual calendar. Only this year it isn't going smoothly.
When I go to the calendar settings and choose which iCal events I want, I'm getting all sorts of strange behavior.
Items from two calendars for the same day won't both appear on the calendar. I want to add a July 4 birthday, but I can get either Independence Day or the birthday, not both.
As I added calendars, sometimes events already listed became duplicated or triplicated (not with US Holidays, but other calendars).
Is anyone else having this problem and more importantly, does any one have a solution.
Calendar ordering time is fast upon us. One of the things that makes an iPhoto calendar worth the extra bucks is that it has all the dates I want on it. Help!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Those are bugs that need to be reported to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
Not much we can do about it.

  • ICal events are displayed in the local time zone, not at the time they are supposed to be

When I enter events in iCal (or in my iPhone calendar), they always display at the time for the zone that I am currently in, even when they occur in a different time zone. For example, if I have a lunch scheduled at 12 pm Monday in Vancouver, I want to see that I have something scheduled at 12 pm on Monday, even if I am in Hong Kong. But even if I have time zone support enabled, the event appears at 4 am Tuesday. This makes it hard to look at the calendar and know what events I have scheduled for what times when I am doing a lot of travel. Is there anyway that I can get the event to show up at 12 pm on Monday no matter where I am in the world?
    Thanks

This means you're still using Flex 1.5 as your runtime. SAP has introduced Flex 2 RT on SP14 patch 1 onwards. There were a lot of bug fixes and also several new functionality introduced there. I suggest you consider upgrading to the latest SP. Note that you can upgrade VC apart from the portal (only 3 SCAs to deploy) so this means you don't impact the portal itself and continue to have an up-to-date version of VC.
If you want to solve your problem, I suggest you open a support ticket at SAP and once they see this, they'll let you have those SCAs.

  • How do I fix Mail's [apparently lost] "create iCal event" feature?

When the data detector feature in Mail detects a date (and/or time) the contextual menu offers to create (or edit and create) an event in iCal. This used to work.
Recently (not sure how long, perhaps last week or two, maybe longer) I have found that (in Mail) I can bring up the same contextual menu, showing the event to be created, and the other events already on that day (oddly, however, each existing event appears in duplicate: peculiar new behaviour). I can edit the presented new event, then click Create event, the contextual menu window whooshes away, and when I go to iCal the event is not there.
If I now try again, Mail shows my recent attempted creation as if it had occurred (ie same appearance as the events that are in fact already in iCal), but again nothing happens.
