My iCal is getting quirky

My iCal has really been misbehaving lately. Last week it the pop-up asking if I wanted to make a change to a recurring event for just this one or all future events has failed to pop up after a change (and the future events did not change). This happened several times (but it worked fine sometimes).
And now I have found that 2 recurring events (annual) in April don't show the [EDIT] button when I double-click on them, or right-click and pick Get info. They only shows the [DONE] button. This only happens on 2 events in the month, all the other 26 events work fine and both the edit and done buttons show. I just checked my permissions this morning and they were fine. What's wrong??
All my software is up to date and I just ran the new firmware update this morning. I've never seen either of these problems before.

Still does not work. if I add something to my laptop it shows up maybe hour or so later on my cell if at all. I have everything set up properly.
I hate to say it but it looks to me as all they did was change the .mac logo to a .me and otherwise whats the difference?
Doe sit instantly push for you to your cell? I bet not

  • I recently upgraded to snow leopard and now every time i open iCal i get multiple events to update in iCal

I recently upgraded to snow leopard and now every time i open iCal i get multiple events to update in iCal.  Except I don't know where these are coming from or why.   I've check iCal preferences and Help - can't find a way to stop this from happening automatically.  Any Clues?  Also, some of the events are already on my calendar and have been for quite some time.

    Greetings,
What do you mean by "events to update"?  Do you mean invites to new events or changes to existing invites?
    Troubleshooting:
    1. Your profile indicates you are running 10.6.7, 10.6.8 is the current version Apple > Software update.
    2. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal 1 at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
    3. Launch iCal and test.
    Hope that helps!

I use only support.mozilla.org and never used any other websites. However, the same problem here. My ID and Password are not accepted. Had to create a new account with a temporary email to use Support - it would not allow me to use my main email, because "it is used by another account". Try to reset password - receive no email (even though there is a confirmation on the website that email to reset password has been sent). At the same time can easily receive a confirmation about User ID and account activation. Thus, the account is completely locked, and I can not use my email address for a new one. Please fix this problem.

  • ICal applescript: get current event?

I am trying to use Applescript alarms from iCal to do a couple things: first, I want it to set my away message in iChat to the event that called the alarm, and second, I was to be able to send an e-mail (really a text message) containing the event. I would settle for just being able to get the closest event to "now", but that is the last resort. Is there any way to get the ID of the event that called the applescript in the first place? Barring that, how can I get the closest event to "now"? The code I have seems to miss recurring events (I am comparing start time to now, but start time on recurring events was the first occurrence).

  • ICal Calendar Get Info Window not appearing

    MB Pro Lion 10.7.2
I'm trying to change the color of a calendar in iCal. The calendar is syncing to an Exchange server.
I click the Calendars button in the upper left corner of the iCal window, then right click on the calendar. From the contextual menu, I choose "Get Info." The command blinks in response, but no Info window appears. The Get Info window appears for other calendars (e.g., Google Calendar syncing via CalDAV). The Get Info window appears for individual events on this calendar, but not for the calendar as a whole.
Since I'm only trying to change the color as it's displayed in iCal on my Mac, I don't see why this calendar refuses to show its Info window.
I've tried unchecking and rechecking the calendar from the list of visible calendars. I've tried unchecking all calendars but this one.
I've tried removing the .plist files for iCal from my ~/Library/Preferences/ folder to no avail.
I've tried removing the account from iCal and re-adding it, also to no avail.
    Any ideas?

Well done, Ian! Nice solution to changing the colors. I played around with this a bit and found a way to choose the color from the color wheel by changing the code just slightly.
    tell application "iCal"
              set color of calendar "Calendar" to choose color default color {0, 0, 0}
    end tell
You have to switch views or calendars and then click on an event in the calendar whose color you just changed to see the new color. Which leads to this slightly more automated solution:
property targetCalendar : "Calendar" as string
    tell application "iCal"
    tell calendar targetCalendar
                             set color to choose color default color {0, 0, 0}
           switch view to month view
           switch view to week view
           switch view to day view
                             show first event
      end tell
    end tell
The switch view statements just ensure that the update becomes visible. (I've not been able to see how to get iCal to tell me what the current view is when the script runs so the script can switch back to it)
Still, the Get Info window should still appear when you select it from the context menu.

  • ICal invite gets rejected in outlook

When any outlook user receive an iCal event invitation they cannot add it to their Outlook calendar and get an error message advising them to change their appointment options from 'Lunar' to 'Gregorian'. Is there any way around this?

Which version of outlook are they using? I know I know microsofty has published a help file for Outlook 2000 to fix this problem
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823199
apparently there is a sourceforge plugin for 2003 users if they are having problems

  • Does anybody know of a calendaring product that works on the Mac?  Apple seem determined to remain blind to the fact that iCal is getting worse.

Over the last few months, iCal is just getting worse. The forced "upgrade" no longer supports multiple e-mail addresses, one can no longer confirm appointments into iCal, it will now not read outlook appointments sent via e-mail....its so bad that the support folks last time reminded me to read the terms and conditions of service.....that was a new low point.
Does anybody know of a product that a non technical person can rely on like PC users rely on Outlook?
    Thanks

    Hi David,
I guess from your "forced upgrade" comment you actually mean MobileMe Calendar. If that is the case and you'd like Apple to know about this I suggest you send them feedback.
The correct forum for discussion of MobileMe is MobileMe on my Mac.
I use iCal regularly with few issues.  I do not use MobileMe Calendar.
    Best wishes

  • Can you reload iCal and get a clean slate?

Since no one seems to know how to solve the problem of the dissapearing "to do's",(see topic: iCal "TO Do's" have stopped working properly.), is there a way to reload iCal and start over with a clean slate? I tried reloading OS 10.4.8 but iCal picked up all my old calendar entries. I'm hoping that if I can get a clean start maybe this problem might go away.

  • Ical events getting deleted on ipod

    Hi
when I first got my ipod I tried synching it with ical on 2 different computers. It was a mess (many events were either deleted or duplicated, entire calendars were being duplicated on each machine, etc). So I gave up trying to synch with both, cleaned up the ical on the machine I mostly used and then clicked the "replace content on this ipod" option in itunes and started fresh.
However, now whenever I enter a new event into my ipod touch and try to synch, it disappears. It is not on either the ipod or the computer. I checked and the "replace content on this ipod" option is not checked. Any ideas what is going on?
Bonus question - looking through the posts it appears that it is possible to synch with 2 computers, any pointers to make that go more smoothly?
    Much thanks!
    Sara

  • Update: 10.7.2 - Problems with iCal after getting iCloud

    Hi all,
So this morning, my iMac updates and installs iCloud. Obviously I was very excited.
Initially everything went well, and all installed as expected. I configured my settings etc.
I then proceeded to open iCal, and it indicated that it wanted to upgrade iCal calanders. This is where it started giving problems.
After displaying the whirling blue status bar (Upgrading iCal calanders) for about a half hour, it stops and says that iCal couldn't move your calanders to iCloud because an error occured: make sure you're connected to the internet and try again. I retried several times, same thing. Shut down, restart my iMac, same thing.
So I figured, lets try on my MacBook. Same sequence of events as above. Now, while its failing to "upgrade" my iCal calanders, it seems like all my iCal entries have been deleted. On both computers. I tried restoring from Time Machine, but it failed.
Any suggestions? Do I just try and try again?
Please help! I'm screwed without my calander!

Managed to restore my calander entries by signing out of iCloud and restoring the iCal backup.
The problem is now, that everytime I sign into iCloud, it deletes all my calander entries and still fails to upgrade my iCal calanders.
    Please help!

The pc's have sent us invites, yet we cannot see them.. we are completely stuck and the pc's are giving us stick taunting us that macs are supposed to do anything.. we are ofcourse replying with " yes but not so easily when they work with stupid window machines !"
so seriously, how can we get to see this office diary on our macs from the windows machines ?

Can anyone help on this ?

  • When invites from Lotus notes go into iCal they get the time wrong - is there a solution?

During the whole 6 months of British Summer Time an invite for 2pm appears as 3pm in iCal.
I can find lots of discussions about this from 2010 but nothing recent. Is there a solution out there?  Preferably in non-tech jargon.
Turning off time zone support only makes it worse. At least with time zone support on, I can go into the invite details to see the actual start time.
When winter time starts, my problem disappears.
    Thanks.
