My ichat is messed up! PLEASE HELP!

My ichat is messed up. I go to preferences, i make a new account, i try to login, and it keeps asking me for my AOL password! and everything i type in is wrong... HELP!

Hi,
So is this a AIM (Or Valid  AIM) name you are adding ?
Lets say you are adding an @mac.com or @me.com name from Apple which are valid AIM Screen Names as well as Apple IDs
On both the iCloud and the @mac.com registration pages, Apple encourages you to have longer (more secure) passwords.
However what each page does not tell you is that for working in iChat with the AIM service the password cannot exceed 16 characters (AIM Server limit)
If this is the case then shorten the password.
Start here and Manage Account.
If it is an AIM Name ([email protected]) as you register it then don't add the suffix part in iChat (AIM actuall strip the @AIM.com part)
If it is not this you will have to be more specific without revealing the Screen Name directly.

  • My iTunes is messed up, please help

Ok, I have always had no problem with iTunes, for the last like, year I used it. Now, there has been the update, to 7.0, I downloaded that, all good. Now, you see, the problem persists that I when I tried to install it, it says that it can not uninstall the older version of quicktime. I've tried everything I can think of, it won't work. Please help, I want the new iTunes.

In that case you need to go here and follow ALL steps for removing itunes and quicktime, especially "Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976

  • Ipod nano is messed up please help mee

when i go to update my ipod and go to click on the songs in the ipod window, i cant.
when i try it with my shuffle, it works fine, i have to right click on my nano icon in the list on the list on the leftto update it. i cant even click on the music when im looking at the window with the songs on my ipod up
    please help me
    windows laptop   Windows XP

If the iPod is set to automatically update, the songs are greyed out (because automatically updating means the songs in your library are the same ones on the iPod (for the most part)). Anything you would want to do with the song would have to be done in your iTunes library.
If you set the iPod to manually update, this is not the case, because the iPod and iTunes can have different songs.
Although there are ways to automatically update and have different songs, automatically updating is mainly for having the same, or similar libraries, on both your iPod and iTunes (so you can't access the songs on the iPod through the computer because they should be on the computer).
This is the way the transfer modes work. If the iPod is set to automatically update, the songs will be greyed out. Not much you can do.

  • Mail & iChat won't launch - Please help

    Hey guys
So I was trying to make a clone of a HD from another computer using Carbon Copy Cloner because I was going to wipe it out and install Tiger. I wanted to make a backup copy to my computer so I used Target Mode to bring my computer's HD to the host computer and make the copy. This was the first time I used CCC so instead of making the HD an image file I selected Choose Target or something like that, then it started making a copy of it directly to my computer's HD. I stopped it when I saw it was copying all the files and folder to my computer's HD, I mean, I thought it would make a separate folder with the name of the HD I was trying to make a backup of and put everything in it. But no, I was wrong. Then I was able to make it an image file. Backed it up, everything ready for wipe out. After finishing with the backup I erased it, and then installed Tiger without a problem. Going back to my computer I encountered a problem, Mail and iChat won't launch. My guess is that when CCC started making the clone to my comp's HD it messed up something somewhere on my computer affecting them. So I'm asking you guys if you can give me a hand on how to fix this problem. If anybody knows how to make them work again please let me know as I need them to work, they're part of my work's tools.
Thanks a lot and I really appreciate your help!

  • Music is messed up (please help!)

Since updating to iOS 7, I have run into a problem with my music. Songs that I listen to repeatedly have suddenly changed octaves, and, at some parts, instruments are missing from the sound. These are all songs that I've listened to many, many times before, so I know how they should sound and when they are different. The songs also sound different in iTunes
I was instructed to update my iTunes to 11.1.3, which I did. This fixed the affected songs in iTunes. I connected my iPod to my laptop to sync, and it did nothing but make matters worse. Even more songs have messed up on my iPod (missing instruments and octave changes), and they are affected in iTunes as well. My EQ is off, and turning it on does not help the situation.
Can anyone help me fix this? Please?

Are you using headphones? Does it only occur if using headphones?
    If yes:
    - Try another set of headphones
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • Problem with AIM/ICHAT ....please help

I have a family member that just purchased their first Apple and need help. They have AOL as their internet provider but also want to use Ichat. If they try to open IChat it opens AOL and then they can't log in to IChat because they can't have AIM open in two different locations. (They are using Dial Up). What can they do to get around this? Thanks.

    Sam,
Have them go into iChat preferences. Click the Accounts tab at the top of the screen. Listed down the left hand side will be all the accounts that are set up. Select the one you want to be the default account (I'm guessing your .Mac account) and check the "use this account box". Then click the "allow multiple logins for this account"
    Hope that helps

  • IChat 4 Video problem - Please help, tried everything!

(I posted this questions to the old iChat 3 forum before I found this one, sorry for the cross-post.)
I'm using iChat 4 on 10.5 Leopard on my iMac 2.8ghz. It's behind an Airport Extreme router. I've opened ports 5190, 5220, 5222, 5223, 5298 TCP and 5060, 5190, 5297, 5298, 5353, 5678, 16384-16403 UDP and mapped to the IP of the iMac (192.168.1.100). (First question - if I have 2 Mac's behind the firewall, is there any way to use both with video chat outside the network? Can I use 192.168.1.0?) I've also turned off the Leopard firewall (Accept all incoming), and I've also tried allowing specifics and inserting iChat. I'm trying to connect to my laptop outside of the home using AIM. I can get text chat, but no video. The invites make their way through, but then iChat says the other use "has declined the invitation" even when I click Accept in AIM. I've tried going both ways, nothing works. The laptop is directly connected to the new via AT&T's HSDPA cellular modem. I've also tried the laptop behind a Linksys router in a DMZ zone; no luck. I've reached the end of my rope - I have absolutely no idea how to proceed to get this to work, and I've just gotten frustrated with it. After opening all the ports, I just don't get why it doesn't work. I'm traveling this week, but when I get home I will try plugging the iMac directly into the BellSouth/AT&T DSL modem (Westell Wirespeed - IP passthrough mode right now). I've tried on the iMac using canyouseeme.org to check out open ports, and 5060, 5190, and 5678 show "No Route to Host" and 16402 shows "Connection Timed Out."
Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance.

    Russa,
You have remembered to change the Login port to 443 since upgrading ? (for your ZyXel)
    iChat does UPnP.
If you run /Applications/iChat.app/Contents/MacOS/iChat -errorLogLevel 7 in Terminal you will see it listed.

  • Ichat receiving pics problem please help. ichat 5.0.3

I can send pictures on ichat but when someone sends me a picture i cant view them it just shows up as a bubble and turns small. whats wrong? how can i fix it? It used to work but now all i get is a square like if the image attemots to load then it turns into a small text bubble which is blank.

    Hi,
    EDIT.
I saw as I posted this that you have included the Gmail on Jabber tag.
Apple tells us that Jabber user either port 5223 or port 5222 depending if the server needs us to use SSL.  iChat is also supposed to use Port 5220 although I have found no evidence that it does.  (there is some evidence it uses port 1080 which would need to be opened in any router)
Other than that the Info below about ports needing to be opened/allowed or the Mac Firewall to allow iChat still apply as does ther Direct IM info.
I take it this is with an account/Screen name that logs in to the AIM service ?
iChat uses port 5190 on the TCP Protocol to do the Login.
It uses the same Port but switches to the UDP protocol for File Sending and Receiving.
The Pic-in-Chat is essentially a file being sent.
The Chat should have a little grey text message in the centre (left to right) that says the chat has changed to a Direct IM
You can also send files by dropping them directly on to a Buddy in the Buddy list (Even without a chat being Open) Files sent whilst a chat is open will have a link type symbol and you have to agree to Accept. (or your Buddy does).
The Mac Firewall will let out going connections to be made.  It is the incoming ones that it may not allow.
Generally speaking it will allow return stuff if the same port/protocol is being used.
In Tiger in System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall (That's where it was then) the Advanced Button gave you an option to Block UDP traffic)
This does not apply to Leopard or Snow Leopard (even though the Firewall moved to System Preferences > Security).
Your router will also act like a hardware firewall if port above the 1024 threshold are not opened for apps that use them.
If you set Port Forwarding in some routers you had to list an IP (Computer) they were pointed to.
If it is also using DHCP to Issue IP addresses to computers  then you may find the computer has a new IP and the Port Forwarding is no longer pointing to it.
Again, outgoing things tend to be allowed.
UPnP is a simpler Enable/Disable setting if you have it on your router.
As it also works with multiple Computers (Different IPs) it does not matter if your computer changes IP or not.
    So...
This issue may appear intermittent depending who is sending the first file and the set up of the Mac Firewall or the router.
Most likely it is a router issue about which port are opened for iChat and on what Protocols if they need to be stated.
As you mention it used to work then Port Forwarding seems to be the most likely cause.

  • SOUND IS MESSED UP, PLEASE HELP ME !!!!!!!! BASS EFFECT HAS GONE !!!!!!!

    Hi,
so i was listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers (Oh yeah !) on itunes on my Macbook Pro (Mid 2010 model, OSX 10.6.7) and the sounds working fine, then suddenly the base effect just went and it's like it's being played on an ipod. I then went onto youtube to see if it was just itunes that was messed up but then the same problem was happening with all the sound on my computer. I then went into system prefs to see if there were any options in there but there wern't. I've already searched for an answer on here and it's not the same sound problem where people can't hear voices on movies properly. I think i'm going to see someone at the apple store soon but i just thought i'd put it on here aswell to so if anyone knows why this is happening.
If you have any further questions just ask me.
    Thanks,

Hi, I have what probably is a simple question and I am just missing something. I am new to Mac so I am still figuring things out (got it about an hour ago). I would like to use iChat but I can't figure out how to do that? Do I have to download it? IS it already installed? Where can I get it? etc. I think once I know that I can figure out the rest.

  • Saving my photoshop painting, the colours or shading messes up , please help :(

    Hello.
I am not completely sure how to describe this problem so couldn't really search it too easily on google and what not, I have taken a print screen to show what I mean though.
Basically in my digital painting, the shades that I blended in look fine in photoshop are far from blended when I save the image afterwards. I have tried saving as Jpeg and PNG as I normally would, I also tried Tiff, they all come out exactly the same, the picture should describe the problem pretty clearly.
For example look at the shading around the right eye and next to the chin. The print screen shows the original PSD is on the left and one of the saves is on the right
from what I can tell it is making a certain shade go darker as the hair has gone a bit funny too, so has the shading inside the mouth/around the teeth if you look closely.
If anyone can give me any suggestions I would really appreciate it as digital painting is a huge part of my life
    Thanks guys

    rant warning 'loose terminology':
source RGB is a theoretical numerical concept
the color doesn't become tangible until it is displayed or printed
an embedded or assigned/assumed source ICC profile gives specific mathematical meaning to the RGB 'numbers' contained in your document
    MONITOR PROOF CONCEPT:
Photoshop uses the source ICC profile information to base a mathematical calculation and CONVERT theoretical source colors to the monitor profile for a so-called 'true-color' display
    PRINT PROOF CONCEPT:
Photoshop uses the source profile information to base a calculation and CONVERT theoretical source colors to the print profile for a so-called 'true-color' print
the source space/profile is independent of any monitor or printer profiles (hopefully)
    what this approach means is:
Photoshop's Source-to-Monitor display "proof" allows a user (with a 'calibrated' monitor) to 'accurately' proof the source RGB on the monitor
Photoshop's Source-to-print "proof" allows a user (with a 'calibrated' printer) to 'accurately' proof the source RGB on the paper/substrate
in order for you or anyone to 'accurately' proof your image they need:
an 'accurate' monitor or printer profile
an application that applies the correct source profile and CONVERTS color to monitor RGB, or
a printer that that applies the correct source profile and CONVERTS color to the print profile, or
    properly converted destination CMYK
by you not having an 'accurate' default monitor profile enabled, Photoshop cannot display your RGB proper, so you cannot know exactly what you are looking at and what colors you sending out
however, Photoshop can still give you a proper printed proof (provided you apply the correct source profile and your print settings CONVERT to a 'calibrated' print profile
UN-MANAGED applications generally just send the source RGB numbers to the monitor... so trust what Photoshop is displaying once you have a good hardware-calibrated monitor profile in place
i am no rocket scientist, these are just my thoughts on the subject...

  • My app is messed up please help

I bought Jibigo chinese translator on my ipod through the online store but my internet connection cut out when it was half downloaded and then the ipod was shut off and now it says that it is waiting and sometimes loading but nothing happens. When I try to delete the appthe usual way by holding an app and then hitting the x at the top of the app there is no x for this app. Also I tried downloading it on my computer to sync it to my ipod and it won't replace the broken app. Any suggestions? Any way to delete this app?

You can try to back up manually. Before you start, transfer your purchases using File-> transfer purchases in the iTunes menu bar. After that, right click on your device in the device list and choose backup.
See what's included in the backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
After that restore your ipod "as new ipod" and use the backup you made to get your settings back.
