My @icloud email IS different from my @me. Forgot password.

I know the password for my Apple ID and it's corresponding @icloud.com email.
Previous to all the cloud stuff, I had a @mac.com email. This was converted over
to a @me.com.
Right now, I get different emails to each account. They are not one and the same.
I have forgotten the password to the @me.com account to the extent that I cannot
reinstall on new machines. However, it still works on previously set up machines.
It is not evident in Keychain.
How do I reset the @me.com password? Or am I ultimately going to lose it? Have
too many things associated with it to want to see that happen.
Thanks for any help.
Andy

If you had an @mac address and migrated to iCloud back then you should now have 3 email addresses [email protected], me.com and icloud.com. They should be identical other than domain name. (If your first Apple address was @me.com you would have 2 addresses and so on.)
You can check by going to the iCloud website, opening Mail Settings and seeing what active addresses you have (and choosing which is the default to send from or deactivate)

My iCloud account won't allow me to sign in because the email address listed (******@mac.com) is not the address I use for my Apple ID. When I click for sign-in help it wants me to change my password ... which isn't the problem. Any ideas?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

ok thanks, so if I do nothing straight away, they won't free the address up and give it to someone else, correct?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your Apple ID and iCloud email address don't need to be the same, you can't change an iCloud email address.
Also check your Mail rules and filtering, the verification mail may be going to a junk folder or even being deleted altogether. You may also wish to contact your mail provider to see if their spam filters are removing the email before it gets to you.

  • Choose a password that is different from your last 5 passwords

    Hi Experts
"Choose a password that is different from your last 5 passwords."
I want to take this setting off. So that you can use the same password every time.
What I have done is:       -Transaction - rz10
                                           -Change the following parameter "login/password_history_size =  0"
-stop and start the SAP system.
Are there any other settings that I must change?
    Thanks

    This is not possible.
The password may not be changed to any of a useru2019s last five passwords, if the user changes the password himself or herself.
The administrator can reset a useru2019s password to any password, even to one of the last five passwords of this user. This is necessary, since the administrator should not know the passwords of the users. The user is prompted to change the password at the first interactive logon.

  • ICloud email is different than Apple ID

I recently bought a new iphone5s, prior to which I was using an iphone 4. I never used my iCloud servcices in my old phone, but had created an ID anyways. However the email address that I had used to create my ICloud, is no longer available. Nor do I remember my security questions (Shockingly, I dont know what I was doing while creating it).
Anyways, I never needed iCloud, but I did have an Apple ID which is using a different log in and password than my Icloud (I tried entering the same password as my Apple ID).
When I bought my iphone5S, it synced with my itunes (I clicked on Restore iphone), and copied all settings from my last back up of my iphone4, along with its iCloud email address !!
Now it keeps prompting my for my iCloud password, and there is absolutely no way I can change or delete the account, since I cant login nor do i remember my security questions.
    Please help.

You should still be able to use your college email address, just log in with your details.

  • Email notification different from actual post

Something I just noticed and am wondering about. Recently I have received some email notifications that are quite different from what is actually posted on the thread. In one, the link was different and there was some differences in wording. In another, there was more text in the post than there was on the email. This seems different from what I am accustomed to seeing, which would often be edited versions of the same post. It seems like the email is an earlier version of the post, but I can't be sure. It has sparked my curiosity, and I am just wondering why this is happening. Has anybody else noticed this?

    S.U.,
As Miriam states, unchecking the edit box will cause the reply to not have that info.
I, like Miriam, will occasionally uncheck the edit box but in my case it usually has to do with the fact that I have edited the post more than once and found that if I don't uncheck the edit box on successive edits there will be a long string of edited text below the post. Just cleans up the post a bit. I too, have been guilty of vanity in editing, as I'm sure that most are here.....after all, aren't we all perfect typists here?

  • Icloud email on different apple id

how can i use my icloud e-mail address with different apple id. In other words... how can i dissociate it with the first apple id and associate it with a different apple id.

Sorry but an iCloud email address cannot be moved to a different ID.

  • Same email address, different 'from' name

Hi - I would like to be able to send an email from ios to a 3rd party and choose who the recipient sees that it comes from, but use the one email address. So 1 'name' is my personal name, 1 is my business name.
I host a domain and I have sent up 2 email accounts in ios with different usernames let's say [email protected] and [email protected] [email protected] is set to divert to [email protected] on a server level, so ALL emails sent to either x or y, go to x. So I have both set up on my Mac, y doesn't get email, so I don't get double ups - when I want to send from a different user name, I just send from the other account.
Now ios has the same ability in theory and when I set it up the same way, it all works BUT the recipient receives the email from my personal name, despite me sending it from my business name???
Anyone have a fix or answer??!!
    TIA!!

    Hi there
I'm staying at a Novotel in Edinburgh.  Their wireless shows up as "Orange France".  The BT FON map shows it as a "single hotspot operated by a roaming partner".
While I can select "FON" from the list of providers for login, when I use my @btinternet email address as the login I am denied access.
Should I have a FON account name different from my btinternet email address.  Is my FON password the same as my email password?
    Thanks
    Ben
Hi Ben. Welcome to the forums.
The BTFon access is via the primary email address and associated password.
Does the list of providers actually say BTFon or BTOpenzone ?

  • How can I remove an icloud email address if i have forgotten the password?

How can I remove an ICloud email address that's on my IPhone if I have forgotten the password?  I have tried to reset the password through Apple ID but I no longer have access to the email address and its not recognising my birthday

If all you want is an additional email address you can create up to three 'email aliases'  - these are additional addresses (not accounts) which deliver into the same inbox as the main account.
You should be aware before you start that once you've created an alias you cannot turn that address into a full iCloud account, move it to another account, or reactivate it if you delete it.
    More information on aliases here:

If you want to keep her email separate from yours she will need to create a new Apple ID, and use it to create a new iCloud account either on a separate computer or on a separate User Account on your Mac.
