Thank you, I never thought about accessing webmail. They are all there.

I recently changed from a Mac Pro to an iMac. Despite using Migration Assistant, a large chunk of my recent emails and nearly all of my wife's emails have disappeared in transit. Strangely, emails from my distant past are still there. Time Machine is no help; the messages may be on my backup disc but they're behind an invisible  icon. Any ideas as to how I can get them back?

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the text on the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • I changed my outgoing pop settings and my stored emails have disappeared, how do I recover them, please?

I am using the Mail app on my iMac in OS Yosemite 10.10.2. My talk talk.net account would not let me send emails, so I changed the  port setting from 110 to 25 and when I went back into my email box all but today's emails have disappeared. How do I recover them, please?

Now I cannot access these photos.
You need to update to iPhoto 9.6.1. Only that is fully compatible with MacOS X 10.10.3.
You can no longer buy iPhoto from the App Store anywhere, and also not update it from the "Updates" tab of the App Store. You can however reinstall it, if it is showing among your Purchases at the App Store and associated with your AppleID.
Sign into the App Store and look at the Purchases tab.  If you do not see iPhoto there, try to unhide your Purchases as described on this page:   Hide and unhide purchases in the Mac App Store - Apple Support
If iPhoto shows on your Purchases tab, reinstall as described in this User Tip:
Get iPhoto 9.6.1 if you didn't update before OS... | Apple Support Communities
The main idea is to move the incompatible iPhoto app to the Trash, so Spotlight does not see it as installed, reload the App Store by pressing ⌘R, and then to try to download again from the App Store - from your Purchases tab, not from the main page, since you can neither buy iPhoto nor update it, but you can reinstall, if your AppleID is associated with it.
So move iPhoto to the Trash (don't empty the Trash), relaunch the App Store. The button to the right if iPhoto should change to Install on the "Purchases" tab.
Alternately, you could migrate your iPhoto library to the new Photos.app.
When you launch Photos, it will try to migrate your iphoto Library, if it can find the library.  Where is your iPhoto Library stored? If it is in your Pictures folder, simply drag the iPhoto Library to the Phots icon in your Dock to migrate it to Photos.
Photos will make a migrated copy, so you still can use your iPhoto Library with iPhoto.

  • I have an Iphone 4 with IOS 6 and my emails have disappeared.  I also have a very slow reaction time to my touch screen.

I have an Iphone 4 with IOS 6 and my emails have disappeared.  I also have a very slow reaction time to my touch screen. Help!

    Hello there, parihargs1.
To troubleshoot display brightness issues the following article provides 2 key steps:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
    Of note is the following:
Display has no backlight or dark screen
Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
If the low-battery screen appears, charge the iPhone.
Display does not adjust brightness automatically
The ambient light sensor brightens the display when using the iPhone in brightly lit environments, and dims the display in low light. To test this sensor, do the following:
If the iPhone is in a protective case, remove it from the case. If there is a protective film on the display, remove the film.
Verify that the Auto-Brightness setting (Settings > Brightness and Wallpaper) is set to ON, and that the Brightness level is set near the middle of the slider.
Press the Home button to return to the Home screen and then press the Sleep/Wake button to lock the iPhone.
In a bright environment, cover the top third of the iPhone to block the light, then press the Sleep/Wake button or the Home button to wake the phone. Slide the slider to unlock the phone.
Notice the brightness of the screen and application icons; they should be somewhat dimmed.
Remove the cover from the top of the display and in a few moments the display should get brighter.
If these steps do not resolve your issue please refer to the "Issue not resolved" section for your next step.
Thansk for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro D.

  • Emails have disappeared!!

All of my emails have suddenly disappeared!!? They were there this afternoon but I now have no emails on my phone or iMac!!? What's happened!?

    I do have a backup.
The problem seems to have resolved itself now, though. Just prior to sending my question above, I went to the Mailbox menu and selected "Rebuild". Nothing seemed to happen. After about an hour I had to force quit Mail as it wasn't responding to "Quit". After loading the app again, the folders are now populated with all of the emails that were missing. ??? I'm not sure what was going on, but all seems to be fine now.

  • Mail Folder turned grey and emails have disappeared!

I’ve got a problem with a folder in mail 2.1.3 whereby the folder (which contained a number of subfolders, each in turn containing a fair few emails) has turned grey and the emails seem to have disappeared.
All I did was to try and rename the main folder, but got a message saying the folder could not be renamed, and instead a new folder was created. This was when the original folder turned grey?? The dub folder structure remained intact but all the messages from all the folders have disappeared.
I’ve looked at what should be the folder contents in user/username/library/mail/mailboxes/THEFOLDER and can see that the subfolders and the messages are there but they simply dont show up in mail.
Can anyone tell me how to reinstate the messages in the folders, and maybe why this has happened?
    Thanks in advance.
    Phil

Perhaps we just lost the custom icon for that folder, you can navigate to it in the Finder, do a Get info on it and change the icon if you wish.
What is the best way to see if there is a potential problem with the disk?
We secretly did one wth the Safe Boot already, 1st thing it does is check & try to repair the disk.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
I consider DiskWarrior from Alsoft the best tool for disks, get the CD/DVD...

  • What is going on with Thunderbird?? I came back to my computer and my emails are all screwy. Most of my saved emails have disappeared.

My file folders are still visible, but most of the emails I saved have disappeared. My inbox emails are all highlighted as if I have never opened them. Is Thunderbird crashing??

  • All emails have disappeared!

    hello,
all my emails (bar about 11 from the past couple of days) have disappeared on my iMac, macbook and iPhone, i need to get them back as i use this account for work.
    What do i do! help!
    thanks in advance
    Simon

    Hi Simon,
Is it a POP account or an IMAP account?
First I'd backup your whole Mail folder, by right clicking on it in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place.
Then to be safe again, "Try Disk Utility
Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
Not likely these steps will bring it back, but give us a good starting place...

  • All of the emails in my icloud inbox have disappeared in the last week and now I am getting 10-20 junk mail per hour. Any thoughts?

I converted to icloud weeks ago, but then all of my old emails in my inbox disappeared in the last week. I can't find them anywhere. On icloud.com, on any of my devices, no where. They have evaporated. Help???
Also, when that occurred I am now getting 10-20 junk mails an hour. Some are completely new to me, but others I have opted out of before. I am about to stop using this email address if it can't be resovled.
    Very frustrating. Thoughts?

  • ICloud email folders, emails have disappeared

    Hello
I have a GMail email account and a me.com email account. I decided to create email archive folders under my me.com account (ie: emails from friends, work etc) so I can archive some emails and clear out my inbox. I then started dragging and dropping emails from both my gmail and me.com accounts into these email folders in iCloud. There was a lot of emails (circa 7000 odd). Anyway after I had completed this excercise my inbox was clear, however when I went into the email folders in Icloud most of the emails were not there. It seems to have removed the most important emails too so I am now in a bit of a panic.
Previous to doing this I had completed the following to remove the annoying all mail folder on mac mail:
"Went into the GMAIL account via my browser and gone into settings, labels, then uncheck  "show in IMAP" for the all mail folder."
Has anyone else had this problem and if so any ideas what I can do?
    Thanks
    Neil

A friend has done this before, with MobileMe as well as iCloud and hasnt had a problem.
I have checked both carefully (I did this before I posted the query) I have logged into GMAIl via my browser and checked there, I have checked Gmail on my iphone mail app and I have checked gmail on the mail app on my macbook air, Additionally I have done the same with icloud. They are not there.
I thought I was archiving (ie creating folders within iCloud tpo store emails, thereby clearing up my inbox). If there is another way to archive, I would suggest that providing information on how to do this would be more helpful than your response.
It's far safer (and faster) to archive to a local folder rather than one connected via the internet, and if your mail is truly missing from the servers (.me and gmail websites) as well as your devices I have to assume that it is gone, sorry.
As to how to archive locally:
In mail: Right Click on any mailbox you wish to archive and select: Export Mailbox.

  • Most of my emails have disappeared from mail Inbox

Hello, last night my emails in my Mail inbox disappeared. I didn't notice at first because the last 10 days are still there, but then I realised that 4 years of email from 1 Nov 2012 up to 2008 (around 20,000 messages) are gone. There are a few for 2008 and then the rest  - I had emails back to 2005 have also disappeared.
I am not aware of having done anything different last night - all I did was check my mail as usual -  and it was only when I tried to search for an email that I realised my inbox now contains only 300 emails. When I go to iCloud it is the same story. Only 303 emails in my inbox. Trash only contains a few hundred, so its like these emails all just disappeared into the ether
I have no idea what to do or how this happened or what might have caused it. I run Lion 10.7.4 on an old black Macbook and have not installed anything new or upgraded software. I don't download unusual attachments so doubt it is a virus.
Is there any way to try to recover them - my inbox is my filing system so years of important stuff is missing. Any help would be very much appreciated.
    thanks

  • All my emails have disappeared, seems like TB has been reset? What happened?

My inbox had several subfolders... they all disappeared, I seem to have a new, naked version of Thunderbird... no idea how this could happen. Is there a method to recover my emails, they must be somewhere on the harddisk... Thanks for your help.

We're having a run on this question. I answered a similar one a few minutes ago, and I see it's been handled on this forum previously today.
