My iCloud for windows is syncing email and notes with my MS Outlook 2013 on windows 8 but NOT contacts and calendar
Dear, I have downloaded and installed iCloud for windows and see that a user has been auto setup in my MS Outlookvia imap. I can now sync email and notes.I cannot sync icloud contacts and calendar with my MS Outlook, can you help me with this?
iCloud hosts the calendars on its server and your various computers read them from there. The protocol for doing this is called CalDAV.
Outlook for Mac has not been equipped with the programming for CalDAV and therefore cannot access iCloud calendars. Outlook for Windows evidently has and can.
This is something only Microsoft can rectify and you could send them feedback suggesting they do this with all convenient speed.
Outlook on a Mac can only access calendars living under 'On My Mac' and these cannot sync with iCloud. iCal can sync with iCloud provided you have 1-.7.2 or higher.

A few months back after a new itunes update, my fathers iphone stopped syncing calendar events from the phone, to the computer
but from computer > phone, no problems.
Well we never fixed that problem, and now he has just purchased Office 2007 (went from outlook 2002 (NOT 2003) )
And now itunes won't sync at all, it just says there is no standard email / calendar program.
But there is, we have been in the options pane in outlook and marked it as the standard program
Any one who has an idea ? what can we do?I have tried resetting the sync history a few times, and to no avail.
I have run the diagnostic tool in itunes regarding synching. No go either.
And no, i know it wasn't supported, therefore i suggested to my dad that he should upgrade. But it did work, untill one of the recent itune patches.
But now he is running office 2007, and that should be supported
but i know, if i ask apple directly i will just get an answer that its microsofts fault -
I set up itunes to sync my contact, 2 x calendars, pictures, email etc with itunes to my ipad 3 & iphone but it wont sync the claendars. I have Windows XP Home Edition 2002 service pack 3 and Outlook 2007. I then tried to download icloud for Windows XP but when it finished downloading it tells me it will only work with Vista or newer. Do I need icloud to sort out this problem and if so is there a different version of icloud version for windows xp I need to download?
No, you need Vista SP2 or higher. About all you can do is add your iCloud email account using these settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864, then check your other iCloud data by going to icloud.com from your browser.

My macbook pro is running 10.10.1 and has stopped syncing reminders and calendar events to iCloud. Changes made to iCloud directly DO update to my machine, so the communication issue is one way only. When I make a change to the calendar or reminders on my machine, it will often bog down and run slowly. I have done several trouble shooting steps without result. these include:
Restarting my computer.
Running Disk Utility diagnostics for both permissions and disk verification.
Checking that my internet and network is working.
Checking that I am properly logged in to iCloud with my ID on my machine and that I have set everything to sync.
Checking my iCloud settings to stop syncing Reminders and Calendars and then setting them back to sync again.
Any suggestions?1. Calendars in the On My Mac or On My iPhone/iPad/iPod category, and calendars that sync with other network services such as Google, will not sync with iCloud.
2. Back up all data, then take all the applicable steps in these support articles:
iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar
iCloud: Advanced Calendar and iCal troubleshooting
Nearly all sync issues should be resolved that way. Please make sure you've taken all the steps and tested adequately before continuing.
3. If there are any calendars on your Mac that you don't synchronize with iCloud, export them by selecting them in the calendar list and then selecting
File ▹ Export ▹ Export…
from the menu bar. Quit Calendar.
4. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Calendars
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Move that folder to the Desktop.
5. Launch Calendar. Your calendars will initially be gone, but they should resynchronize with iCloud. If they don't, uncheck the boxes marked Calendars and Reminders in the iCloud preference pane, then re-check them.
6. Import the calendars you exported in Step 3, if any, by double-clicking the files.
7. If the issue is resolved, close the Finder window you opened in Step 4. Delete the exported files and the Calendars folder on the Desktop.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. -
Select only email and calendar to sync (not contacts)
Is there any way to get Versamail/activesync to only sync email and calendar (not contacts) to an outlook server? I want to manage contacts with Palm Desktop through hotsync and get email and calendar wirelessly on my Centro. I have too many contacts (~4K), so sync'ing to Outlook wirelessly fails.

I use IMAP and Snappermail for all of my mail, because it supports a number of security modes upon which I insist. There's no way to get Versamail to ONLY sync Calendar and Contacts information without also pulling down at least headers for a bunch of mail about which I already know and wouldn't read in Versamail anyway.
If someone enters the ActiveSync middleware market for PalmOS (sorry, I haven't gotten used to saying "Garnet" yet) the way Markspace did with The Missing Sync for Macs, they'll be heroes.

i can't get icloud to sync my ipad notepad to my mac. it works fine for email and calendar?I have clicked the notepad setting on my iPad to ON.
On the iPad tap Settings > iCloud. Switch Calendars off then back on then reset the iPad.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
On the iMac, open System Preferences > iCloud. Deselect the box next to Calendars then reselect that box then restart your iMac. -

Hi you have basicly 2 Options.
1 -if you Switch One fotostream on all 3 devices of yours which are working on the same apple id -all Fotos you Take with your iPad will be synchronized via icloud to the other 2 decvices ( w-lan and battery depending).
2- If you select foots or a whole album in iPhoto on your air or iMac and choose than puplish --> fotostream --> new or existing event you can key in a friends mail. If this friend has iCloud and iPhoto ( for iMac or MacBook ) and click on the link in the email it will download this fotos in the fotostream section in iPhoto. If he has a iPad, iPhone,... It will do it in the foto app and if he doesn't have a iCloud account at all and you choose "public web site" while publishing he can see your fotostream on a website. -
I am using MS Office 2010 and Windows XP Professional, can I use iCloud for backup of my files and documents? I am planning to transition to a Mac so using the iCloud seems to make the most sence.
No, it is not a backup method at all. If you delete a sync'd file on any device, you delete it permanently from iCloud. That by its very essence is not a backup solution therefore. A backup solution does not automatically and simultaneiously delete the file everywhere when it is deleted from the original source.
iCloud is strictly a syncronization tool for using files on multiple internet connected devices. -

What you've outlined in this part of the post is all that icloud stores for you outside of the backup. If you want to restore from the icloud backup you will then have for all practical purposes a carbon restoration back to your device if you restore from the icloud backup.

To repeat my question, Apple offered to install iCloud, and I allowed it. Yet when I try to sign in to iCloud using my Apple ID email and pswrd--an ID that I've been using for YEARS--I'm given the message, "This Apple ID is valid but is not an iCloud account." What is going on?
Everywhere I search on Apple's Support site says to sign in to iCloud using your "Apple ID," which I did. I've had my iTunes account for years (even migrated from the old AOL account system). It's the standard email+password that everyone is supposed to use.
My main question is how can I have a valid Apple ID and not an iCloud account--if the two are supposed to be linked?

tljI've tried both. First, I tried on my pc, where iTunes had installed iCloud when it last updated. I have iTunes installed on this computer (and on my iPad and iPhone), but that wasn't the issue.
So I went online, thinking I needed a separate iCloud Apple ID, but it prompted me for my current Apple ID and gave me the message about my ID being "valid" but not an iCloud account," which, lol, was what it had asked me to do in order to create one. I have set up iCloud control panel 3.1 for Windows 7 but when I add contacts on my Windows 7 desktop it is not updating to my iPhone 5 and the same holds true with my Calendar. Any suggestions? Thanks

I have always had my Yahoo Email, Calendar and Contacts synched to my iPhone. However, I noticed some Contacts weren't synching from the Yahoo account to my iPhone, so I thought if I just deleted the Yahoo account and added it back, I'd be fine. That worked fine for my Email and Calendar, but now I have NO Contacts from Yahoo on my iPhone. When I go to Settings, under Contacts, it doesn't even have the option for 'Default Account.' Help!

It's not clear exactly what you're trying to accomplish here. If you're wanting to set up SMS forwarding introduced in iOS 8, then please follow the directions below. Also, your Apple ID should be an email address.

Your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch need to use iOS 8.1, and your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
Sign in to iMessage on your iPhone, your other iOS devices, and your Mac using the same Apple ID.
On your iPhone:
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By, and add a check to both your phone number and email address.
Go to Messages > Text Message Forwarding, and enable the device(s) you would like to forward messages to.
Your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch will display a code. Enter this code on your iPhone to verify the SMS feature.
