My iCloud pane froze.

I can't close iCloud. Nor can I shut down my iMac using the Apple menu. When I cut off/restart the electricity I get back to the same problem. How do I get out of this vicious circle?

Unless you already did it this way, try deleting the account by going to System Preferences>iCloud, signing out, choosing Delete at all of the prompts, restart your Mac, then sign back in.

  • Could not load Internet Accounts preference, iCloud pane and Mail application

    Hello
    I have 3 problem.
Could not load Internet Accounts preference pane.
Could not load iCloud preference pane.
I also can't open the Mail application.
I already tried to log in as guest user, I can open everything in guest user. So guest user have no problem.
I also tried to log in in safe mode, nothing was working. So I guess I have problem with the admin user.
I also reinstall the operating system and nothing change.
    Please any help?
    Thank you.
    Hind.

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

  • I inherited my husband's iphone 4s. After erasing all of the previous settings, updating to ios 8 I went on icloud to set it up.  During the set up, the screen froze on "carrier settings update". I can reboot, but the message comes right back.

This is a phone re-set from a previous user.  Reset from icloud. Froze during set up, on "carrier settings update" and has the phone number pad with it. I reboot but it comes back and I can't get past it.

    Hey Jackie,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities,
Take a look at the article linked below, it provides troubleshooting suggestions that’ll solve issues like the one that you've described, where your iPhone 4s has a blank black screen.
Get help with the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If you see a solid color screen (black, white or blue)
Plug in your device to a power source. If you see the low-battery screen when you plug in, let your device charge for at least 10 minutes (20 minutes for iPad) before using it.
Reset your device while it's plugged in.
If resetting doesn’t fix the issue, restore your device.
If you still see the issue after you restore, contact Apple Support.
    Cheers,

  • ICloud cannot show preferences pane - running Mavericks

I am using the latest upgrade, Mavericks, and have plenty of memory.  I continue to receive a message that tells me, "iCloud cannot show preferences pane."  That is not a direct quote, but contains the meaning.  Thank you to anyone who has a fix for this situation.

What system version are you running?  One must be running 10.7.5 in order to have iCloud included in the System preferences.
    Minimum system requirements by feature
To use iCloud, you need at least iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPad, or iPad mini; or at least OS X Lion v10.7.5 on a Mac
Do you have an iCloud pane in the System preferences?

  • Why iCloud is not working with your MobileMe

Just got off the phone with support and we figured out the problem with some MobileMe transitions. Here's some of the symptoms:
You can't add a MobileMe address in Mail & Notes.
You can't edit or access your MobileMe aliases on iCloud.com, sometimes related to above.
You can't access your MobileMe email.
Some of us thought that iCloud would free us somewhat from master and alias accounts, that we might be able to break the accounts out. The truth is that you need to "bless" your master MobileMe account in order for things to work properly in some cases. Here's my story.
I haven't used my MobileMe master account in years, it's just a spam magnet. I've been longing to get rid of it, but I need one of my aliases, which is my given [email protected]. So when I migrated to iCloud, I used the alias I wanted as my master iCloud account. I set things up, my email worked, etc. I heard a rumor I could then delete my master MobileMe account, the spam magnet.
Here it should be said that there are two preference panes that have identical features under Internet and Wireless in your System Preferences and it makes things very confusing. The whole iCloud pane is mirrored inside the Mail Contacts and Calendars pane under the iCloud account that you create.
So Mail & Notes was unchecked. If I tried to check it it asked for a me.com address. If I entered a me.com address that I already had, it said that address was taken. Someone in support earlier said to create a new email account so I did and iCloud created a whole new email account with three empty slots for aliases. But I couldn't access alias preferences. Now I had access to my mail in Mail.app, but on the web I had this empty brand new email account. Weird.
I created a iCloud account for my MobileMe master and it told me it was not the primary account and had less options than my alias-created account, now my iCloud master account. Do you follow? My Mobileme alias was my iCloud master, and my Mobileme master was a minor iCloud account.
So I decided I would delete the master iCloud account (hit minus sign), and the new, unnecessary email account disappeared from my Mail app and iCloud.com. So I had just the other iCloud account left, which was my master Mobileme account, but it wasn't blessed. iCloud told me I had to break the link to all accounts associated with it. I hit the minus sign and I kept getting the message.
So I restarted my iMac and went to the Mail Contacts and Calendars pane and the Mobileme account was back. I hit minus sign one more time, headed back to iCloud preference pane, and it asked me if I wanted to use the MobileMe account or a new one. I said Mobileme, and everything just added right in, the email worked, I was able to login to iCloud.com, my Mail.app was correct.
So if you want to migrate from MobileMe, just try to think of your iCloud account as exactly the same as your MobileMe master email when you migrate. The very first account you create in iCloud is your blessed account, so if it's not your master Mobileme you may have problems. You have to use the master as your login and then you can edit your aliases by going to the gear (right top corner) of the mail page on iCloud.com ->preferences->addresses. You can only delete them and color code them. If you delete any and you have more than three aliases, you can't recover the extra slots.
One last thing. When you migrate to iCloud, your MobileMe preference pane is worthless. The reason it exists is if you want to wait to migrate your MobileMe account, and you have until June 2012.
    Hope this helps.
    Sean

  • Documents and Data not accessible in iCloud: SOLVED!

    I've posted this one more to advise on a potentially very frustrating problem, which has taken me a while to resolve;
Just a couple of weeks ago, my iMac (running fully up to date Mavericks and all the associated iApps) started failing to access data and documents stored on my iCloud. If I open any application that has capability of using iCloud storage, I get the default open document/file window with the  'on my mac' pane opening up just fine. If I select the 'iCloud' pane what I get is a repeat of the 'on my mac' pane, but with the sidebar removed. No dark grey iCloud pane, nothing. Equally, I was unable to save or move any documents to the cloud. I could access everything as normal via my other devices, but could not get the iCloud access working on my Mac. This may affect others out there, hence this post.
After a week or two of to-ing and fro-ing with Apple Support and getting nowhere, they have suggested escalating this up to the software engineering tech guys in Cupertino. We tried signing in and out of iCloud, deleting the iCloud files in the ~/Library/Application Support, with no joy. Every time, the same issue... we had established that it must be something to do with the user settings, because if I logged in from a different account, I had normal iCloud access.
    HOWEVER...
I have solved it, by doing the following:
    Setting up a new user account with Admin rights;
    Deleting the old user account, but keeping the original HOME folder;
Rebuilding the home folder in the new account, following this advice: http://www.cnet.com/uk/how-to/how-to-rebuild-a-user-account-in-os-x/
Going into iCloud from Safari, and do a reset of iCloud, following this advice: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5824
Rebooting all computers and devices that use this iCloud account
    And LO! it works again!
I hope that this works for anyone else who encounters this problem. I have no idea why it worked, but it did!
    Cheers,
    Simon

  • HT2373 how can i import contacts from icloud

I just bought an Macbook Air and need to import Contacts from icloud. What is the easiest way to do this.

Go to System Preferences iCloud pane.  Sign In using your Apple ID.  Make sure Contacts is checked to the right, along with anything else you want to keep synced.
Open Address Book, and your contacts from iCloud are already there.

  • Multiple iCloud accounts in Contacts

I have multiple iCloud accounts (all the same ones) showing in my contacts. I can't delete them from the side bar. I've tried turning of contacts in system preferences and turning back on the four different accounts show up.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of these extra accounts.

Yes, the iCloud pane is for your main iCloud login. In Internet Accounts pane, it will include all email accounts and any other iCloud accounts you add in addition to the main one. Some have more than one Apple ID or you may want to add someone like your wife's iCloud contacts to the computer with yours.
Anyway, if you only have one iCloud account and Apple ID, there is no reason to have other iCloud accounts listed. Do as it says and delete the others if you only have one. Just leave the main account there.
    Glad that helped.

  • My Daughter did not sinc pictures to her MacBook pro or her icloud.  Is there a way to recover the photos even if they appear to be lost on an iPad.

Daughter lost all her photos from her ipad 2, She did sinc to macbook pro or her icloud. ipad froze and she had to restart it or something like that. lost pictures. Is there a way to restore them on ipad?

Unfortunately, you have done the equivalent of putting a bunch of photos through a shredder, for all practical purposes.  Some of them may be recoverable, if you pay an expensive recovery service to take apart the iPad and read the data directly out of the hardware...  emphasis on may.  There are no guarantees.
If this were a Mac or Windows machine, you could download some file recovery software and use that, but that is not possible on an iPad.  Apps are not given direct access to the iPad's file system.  I doubt even Apple's apps have that kind of access.  Apple would have to build a file recovery tool into the basic system, and they'll probably never do that because then people would expect it to "just work," which is an impossibility for something like this.
Sorry to be so strongly negative, but it's best you rip off the Band-Aid fast and give up on any false hopes you may have.  Those pictures are gone, and even spending $800- $1500 on recovery will probably not bring all of them back, possibly not any.

  • My contacts on Mac are empty, but fully loaded in iCloud?

All of my CONTACTS in the Address Book (Mac Contacts App) are not displaying.  It appears "empty", but the data is still in iCloud and accessible from the iPad, iPhone and iCloud via web browser - just not the Mac Contacts App on my iMac.  Not sure how to refresh the iMac or possible fix a registry file issue or something that will correct the problem.

Open the iCloud pane in System Preferences and sign in to your account, if not already signed in. Check the box marked Contacts.

  • Mail client and iCloud issues

Anyone else having this problem where the Mail client on you Mac will not accept you new iClould account when you try to add you new iCloud account through the Mail preferences? I am running Snow Leopard.

    I have similar symptoms.
The iCloud pane in System Preferences says "Starting..." and never finished.
Adding an account in OS X Mail prompts me for the Incoming Mail Server, even though it recognizes it as an iCloud account. Leaving leaving the field empty results in Mail unable to connect to the server.
Clicking on Mail in the iCloud web interface tells me I need to create an @me.com email address by enabling Mail in the iCloud System Preference.
I am using an existing MobileMe account (previously a .Mac account) which is my AppleID.

  • HT2490 Mac shows me MobileMe where iCloud is supposed to be

On my system Preferences my Mac shows me MobileMe where iCloud is supposed to be. I want to connect my Mac with my iPhone and everything says that I should go to System Preferences/iCloud, so how do I fix this?

If you're trying to sync the device with your iTunes library, you can do it without upgrading the OS.
If you need the iCloud pane, you need to upgrade the computer to at least 10.7.2. Open the Mac App Store and try downloading Mavericks. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data before upgrading. Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as Microsoft Office 2004 or earlier.

Am only finding the MobileMe icon in System Preferences.  I was a member but never set it up. No icloud icon. So can't get past this hurdle. I'll be upgrading next year but wanted to have all my contacts from iphone and ipad on my mac too.

The iCloud pane wasn't added to Mac OS X until 10.7.2.
