Hi
Did You move ?
• iTunes - Library (Music)
• iPhoto - photo library
If so - iMovie is lost - it can only look in one specific place and if they (or their material) is not there any more (but may be copied out to an external hard disk) it (iMovie) get's lost.
iMovie has no - look for it / find it function - as FinalCut has - and it can not be set to find material in new location if one are not a creator of the application or a very skillful HACKER.
If You've NOT MOVED anything then I guess that
• iPhoto / iTunes Libraries got corrupted and in need of repair
- iPhoto by - Start it BUT KEEP alt-key + cmd-key down during up-start - then from list select ALL
THIS TAKES SEVERAL HOURS - No other programs running - No Internet etc. To me last time I did this it took > 20 hours !
• iTunes - Can be done - BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW
• I would also
- Trash iMovie pref files
- Repair Permissions - Disk Util tool
- Repair Hard Disk - Disk Util tool - BUT TO DO THIS You need to start Your Mac from DVD or external Hard Disk
- Secure a minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up Hard Disk
- Control - that ALL PROGRAMS are up to date ! Run Program up-date !

  • You cannot open the application iTunes (11.1.4) because it is not supported on this type of Mac

After updating iTunes to 11.1.4 as suggested by automatic updates I get the message:
"You cannot open the application iTunes because it is not supported on this type of Mac"
Why did it let me do the update then?
How do I undo the uodate to iTunes?
This is on a Mac Mini running OSX 10.6.8 with 1GB mem

    What processor do you have?
If it's a CoreDuo (as opposed to a Core2Duo), then you ave a 32 bit OS, and no... 11.1.4 won't run on a 32 bit OS.
    =Downgrading from iTunes 11 to iTunes 10.7=
Back up your computer first, in case the wrong things happen.
Replace the iTunes 11 application with iTunes 10.7.  I can't provide details on this since I do not have a newer computer. With mine it is very simple but I believe on newer computers iTunes has been integrated into the operating system.  On mine I just go to my applications folder and drag iTunes to the trash.  See below for possible suggestions on how to remove.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20431349
Get iTunes 10.7.  Apple does not keep many old version up on its web site.  I always keep an iTunes installer on my archive drive so I can have access to old versions .  This one is hidden but it is on an official Apple site:
    iTunes 10.7 for OS X  http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
You will have to rescue your old iTunes library from your Previous Libraries folder and rename it iTunes Library.itl because a newer version of iTunes irreversibly updates your library file.  See:

  • Cannot open or uninstall iTunes

Every time I go to open iTunes it goes through a really SLOW "configuration" and comes up with an error - 2330. I've tried installing the most recent version of iTunes but get an error. I can't uninstall iTunes through the Control Panel.
    Help

    Hello and welcome stehanie.k .....
    Could be your security software.
From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
On Windows 7 and Vista, click Security; on Windows XP, click Security Center.
    Click Windows Firewall.
On Windows 7 and Vista, click Change Settings; if asked for permission by Windows, click Continue; make sure the “Block all incoming connections” option is not selected.
    Click the Exceptions tab.
    Check the iTunes box.
    Click OK.
If iTunes has an exception in Windows Firewall already, or Windows Firewall is off, see iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting Windows security software

  • "You cannot open the application "itunes" because another user has it open" I'm the only user

Before you ask, no, I don't have more than one user account.
I have nothing running that would be using itunes either, it just won't allow me to open itunes.
I even went to the task manager to see if it was somehow open elsewhere, and it's not.
I can restart my computer and it'll work the first time to open, but not after that, even though like I said, it isn't running period.

    dcwdcw:
The solution to your problem is to close the other user's copy of iTunes, so that you are only using one copy of iTunes at any time. As long as you have separate user accounts, your nephew's iTunes and everything in it will be separate.
I assume the problem is that having two copies of iTunes open at the same time violates the licence to use iTunes which, in common with "paid for" software, usually has the restriction that you can only use one copy at a time unless you have a _multiple user_ licence.
Of course it's a bit silly - iTunes is free, but I suspect that's what the problem is.
The original poster has a different problem though, but I don't understand ATV because I don't have it, which is why I haven't been able to help the OP. Hopefully, someone else can.

  • Cannot open "Apps" in iTunes

    I open iTunes.
I connect my iPad to iTunes.
I click "iPad" in upper right corner.
I click "Apps". (Specifically I am trying to access my GarageBand app on the iPad, to access my GarageBand exports.)
iTunes becomes unresponsive and closes. What is going on?

    Hi Demo,
Yes, I have not made myself clear, I apologise.
I have tried downloading apps from itunes in order to set up a game for my son, when I go to click on a link, be this in itunes, or on the web, Safari revolts back informing the address is invalid. I read by coping a link and pasting into the URL, this would do it, but not so.
My goal then, is to install Minecraft for my son, I would then download an app to allow this but I am unable to get this far due to Safari insulting the address I ask it to go to
    The iPad is first generation
OS 5.1.1 Software up to date.
Thank you in advance for your time

  • Cannot open up my itunes library

I am having a hard time opening up my library from itunes, it is not allowing me to even hear a song!

Have you copied your content from your other computer?

  • Error: Cannot open itunes multiple users

I tried to open itunes and got the error message "Cannot open the application "iTunes" because another user has it open." However, there is only 1 itunes user on my computer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes and it worked once, but now it won't even let me install itunes. It's telling me that itunes is already being used on my computer, which it's not because it's not even installed! Someone please please help!

I had to open the iTunes .exe file in compatability mode with the windows 08/ windows ME option.  I'm almost sure it's a software problem with the new version of itunes (~10.5)

  • Cannot open QT, quits unexpectedly

Cannot open quicktime (and iTunes), im not quite sure which one application is the main problem. The error message that Im getting is (read below, its quite lengthy). They quit when I tried to open the application.
Anyway I've tried removing both QT and iTunes and re-install them, but it doesn't seem to work.
Anyone has any idea of how to fix this?

    Hi,
I have had the same problem with Quicktime, although it only occurs when I have 2 movies running at the same time. Both will "Quit unexpectedly" (although it has happened so often that it is no longer unexpected for me!), with an error message similar to yours.
I am in the process of a length discussion with Apple Support, with no real progress made so far.
I had thought about removing and re-installing QT, but following your experience, I probably won't bother. It might be worth trying to downgrade to QT6 - will let you know how this goes.

  • "Cannot Open iTunes" Dialog Box continuously opens in alternate profiles

I just installed iTunes 8.2 (64 Bit Version) on a new HP e9107c-b desktop with Windows Vista-64 (fully patched). I have multiple profiles setup on the computer and ONLY ONE profile ever uses iTunes. However, all other active profiles continously chime and display an error dialog box that says:
"You cannot open the application "iTunes" because another user has it open..."
Again, I am not trying to launch iTunes in any other profiles; but, this message continues to pop up until I close iTunes in the one profile it is running in.
This is extremely annoying and appears to affect my computer's performance. I've read all the articles I could find on the topic and they simply say you can only run one instance of iTunes when using profile-switching on a Windows machine - I'm only running one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks - kc

We just purchased two PC's with Windows Vista 64 bit - both are HP. We are getting the same error. My wife does not use iTunes, yet this error: "You cannot open the application "iTunes" because another user has it open..." keeps popping up every minute or so, and an alarm sounds. She is not trying to open iTunes and has never used it. My daughter uses iTunes on the same computer and if it is open when my wife logs in or switches to her user account, this annoying issue persists all day long. How do we get it to STOP?

  • I had Microsoft Office installed in my Macbook Air by one of the technicians in the store, it was working fine the first week but after that it started popping a notice saying it cannot verify my suscription online and now I cannot open any documents?

I just bought a Macbook Air almost a month now. When I bought it, the technician installed Microsoft Office 365 as they were having a promotion at the time. However after a week of using it, it started popping up a notice saying that it cannot verify Microsoft Office. I still managed to open the word document but as of today, it will not open. I took it to the Mac store last week, and they said that there was nothing wrong with it and they could not figure out any problem.
I don't know what to do and I am in desperate need of help. I cannot open my documents at all and I have my research paper that I need to finish writing. This is very disappointing and extremely stressful for me. If anyone has any suggestions of how this can be fixed, please let me know. I do not want to lose my hard work =(

Microsoft Office 365 is a subscription - based service. You have to pay for it... and keep paying for it... and paying for it... as in 365 days a year... or lose your hard work.
Office Home Premium is a mere $10 a month, but a convenient annual subscription is only $100 a year. This is a substantial discount to Microsoft's Office 365 business products ($150 / employee / year).
Such a deal! Are you not absolutely thrilled?
Here are some slightly more reasonable alternatives, all of which are compatible with their Office equivalents:
    LibreOffice (donation-supported)
NeoOffice ($10 but older version is free if you can find it)
    OpenOffice (completely free)
    Numbers ($19.99)
    Pages ($19.99)

  • I installed windows 7 recently and also Adobre reader XI, and now I cannot open any of my previously created pdfs. Every time I get the message: Error opening the file. Access denied. What is going on?

Recently I had to install windows 7 in my notebook because XP doesn't have more support. Before installing I backed up all my files to my external HD. Now that I instaleed windows 7 and also installed Acrobat Reader XI, I just cannot open any of my pdf files created prior to installing windows 7.
Looking for help online, I found the solution of security and giving me access as an administrator to all my files, but it still keeps the same...
Can some one please help me out?? I really need to work on many of this files ASAP.
Thank you all in advance for you attention,
    Best,
    Henrique

I am trying to open CR2 files from a Cannon EOS 1DX camera in Photoshop CS6 and I have already updated the Camera Raw Plug in but Photoshop is still giving me the cannot open files dialog box? Help?

Canon 1DX support was added to ACR in version 6.7, 7.1.  An updated CS6 should be at level ACR 8.6.  If your ACR is not at level 8.6 try using CS6 menu Help>Updates.  If that does not install ACR 8.6 try downloading the ACR and DNG 8.6 converter and see if ACR 8.6 will install into your CS6.

I have the exact same problem. I have not changed anything. This is probably a bug or something that has gone bad with Mac OS X (10.7.2). I have not found any solution for this on the web.
