My iLife'11 has no iWeb...

My new iMac didn't come with iWeb installed on it.  And when I go to the App store, it can't be loaded from there.  I don't understand.  This is my first Mac.
Thanks for your help.

Neither iWeb nor iDVD are included with iLife now. You can purchase the iLife boxed set DVD which still has iWeb and iDVD, but neither are available through the App Store.

  • Where has my iweb gone?

I bought this application on the computer around 6 months ago, so I do not have a cd to just reinstall. The website that I made with the application is running great...unfortunately I cannot find my iweb anywhere on my mac anymore. Has anyone experienced a similar problem and found a solution?

The iLife apps - including iWeb - should be on the install disk that came with your Mac.

  • I have iLife but no iWeb

Why can I not find iWeb? I have iLife and iWeb is suppose to be with it. What's up?

I just spoke with Apple Application Support and they said that iWeb '09 and iDVD have been discontinued.
For people that have purchased it on Disk or have a old copy of 10.6, it is located on the Applications Disk that comes with Mac OS X 10.6 . Apparently iDVD and can be installed from that as well.  I also read that a  big feature of the next version of OS X Mountain Lion, has a setting which prevents applications that are not sold from the App Store to be installed at all if you want to use that additional security feature.
This is quite surprising to me as I had been using the LAMP stack to build my sites and I was really starting to dislike it.  Recently, I started doing some things with iWeb and had just fallen completely in love with the tool.  I hope Apple would consider bringing it back or offering something even better in the future.

  • Where has my iWeb site gone?

I had my iWeb site loaded onto my iDisk on my MobileMe account, and when I tried to access it, I was informed that MobileMe has ceased to exist, but that I could transfer all my MM files onto iCloud... I followed the instructions, but can't see my website files anywhere there.
In another (unrelated) problem, I can't find my local version of the iWeb site I had created... Can anyone help?
    Thanks

Do you still have your website available when you launch iWeb?  If so you don't need the published files from your iDisk.  Just publish the site to a folder on your hard drive.
If iWeb doesn't open with your website in it then look in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.  However, with Lion read the following:
In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Since iLife '11 upgrade, iWeb does not update/publish my website.

It shows progress and says it publishes, but when I go to the website after iWeb confirms the site has completed publishing, none of the changes are made. Please help.

Here's what I've gathered so far....It publishes to the FTP just fine. I can preview the pages from the FTP accurately as a local file. I use the exact same path from the local file to pull up the second page on the site, and it pulls up the old page. BUT, when I use the home page (or index) path to pull it up online, it says "Not Found".
I gather that for some reason the site is not publishing accurately, as it did before. All the files show up on the remote ftp site, but something is wrong.

  • ILife has been lost

    Hi there,
I have an iMac G5 which came with iLife installed. I had Panther but upgraded to Tiger. I have had a problem with the hardware so it has gone to shop and come back with a complete wipe of the old system and a new motherboard. Problem is that I now have no iPhoto and cannot find it on any install discs.
Any ideas please where I might find it?
    Thanks
    John

If you can't find the installers on your discs download and run Pacisift http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/6812
It will let you look into the installers on the software that came with the computer and you can then find and extract the iLife installers.

  • Please help....ilife has crashed after downloading Lion

    Hi all
I have just finished downloading Lion to my desktop and on launching it I note a no entry sign is fixed over my icons for 'W' 'X' 'E' (ilife?)
The error message when I attempt to open them says:
"you can't open application Microsoft Excel because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. Does this mean I have lost Word, Excel and Entourage or have I done something wrong here.
I would really appreciate any constructive tips and am keeping my fingers crossed that there is an easy fix for this????
Thanks in anticipation of any responses
    Maria

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • FINALLY!! Google has my iWeb site listed now but my question is...

in order to find my website http://www.ericseals.com
one has to search for ericseals (with no space inbetween). I assume most people would type in Eric Seals (with space inbetween) but it does not find the site that way.
Any comments or advice on how to correct this problem if there is one is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Take care
    Eric

Actually, if you do a search for "eric seals" (with the space and in quotes) you're right there at the top at http://www.sportsshooter.com/ericseals/ and, since I'd imagine that site gets lots of hits, that helped a lot with getting you onto google.
Even without the space and the quotes, you get to SportsShooter which will end up at your site which is still a good thing.
So, it's not really not too big of a problem!

  • Has anyone figured out how to serve iLife updates without an Apple ID?

I have a fresh new Mountain Lion iMac (10.8.3) with Server app installed running only Software Updates.  I have successfully connected client computers that are now happily receiving updates for every program except iLife apps from my SUS.  I only have 10.8 clients connected to this server.  The installed iLife is what was preinstalled from the factory and I would rather not uninstall it to install from a retail disk.  My deployed 10.8 clients number is rising quickly and most of these computers will not be assigned an Apple ID.  Am I doomed to stare at iLife update notifications until the end of time?  (Please read as humor )  Let me know if I have left out any pertinent information about my deployment.  Thanks for your time!

From my view, you have two options.
1:  Use one machine to get the updates.  Then use tools like ARD, JAMF, Deploy Studio, etc, to push the updated apps out to all systems.  They are self-contained app bundles.  This should work.  Be smart and run a preflight script to ensure the apps are not running, then copy the app bundle.
2:  Uninstall the OEM, app store linked copies, and install from retail media.  This is the route that I've chosen in numerous deployments.  This can be done by following these instructions:
Step 1: Remove the installer receipts on the master image
    sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.GarageBand_AppStore
    sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.GarageBandBasicContent
    sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.iMovie_AppStore
    sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.iPhoto_AppStore
Step 2: Move the existing copies of iPhoto, GarageBand, iMovie to the Trash
Step 3: Install iLife '11 from the retail disk
Opt to install only the items that you need/want. In the test case, I ran iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand. Please note, the full iLife also includes iWeb and iDVD. These tools are considered discontinued and since many systems now have no optical drives, iDVD is highly marginalized.
Step 4: Run Software Update multiple times until nothing shows up
The drawback here is that if you have units in distribution already, this is not that easy.  However, it can easily be scripted to occur in the background.  I tend to pre-state the installer to devices and then execute to policies.
Now, this trick will only work until Apple released the next iLife product versions.  At which point, we will not have a "retail boxed" copy to fall back on.

  • IWeb '08 and Maveric

Hi there i am having issues with my new MAC that has Maveric on it.
In my previous MAC OS 10.6.8 i had iWeb '08, which application does not work with the new Maveric. I was told by Apple support to find the iLife '09 or iWeb '09 which should solve the problem.
Can anyone help me with the iLife'09 or iWeb'09 download please? Apparently the '09 is also discontinued
    Thank you
    Stamena

You'll need to purchase a copy of the iLife 09 or 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com or eBay.com.
If you think you'll ever be interested in using iDVD then get the iLife 09 version as it's the only one that contains all of the themes available from iDVD 1 thru iDVD 7.
However, you might consider at this time switching over to a more modern and full featured web creation application as iWeb has been discontinued for 2 years not and is nearing end of life.
There are numerious replacements for iWeb and most have been discussed here in the iWeb forum.  Just search for "iWeb replacement" or "iWeb alternative".
One thagt many have gone to is Everweb which is very iWeb like in its user interface and it's drag and drop feature.  However, Everweb is strongly supported by its developer and has many more advanced features than iWeb had.  It has a demo version you can try.

  • What do I do with my iWeb site on Mobile Me? The iCal calendar already doesn't work at the moment.

I am so behind the times....sorry.  I know Apple now has iCloud.  So where does that leave me with an iWeb designed website and it's hosted on mobile me????   The iCal calendar is already not working for some reason.  Is it true that the iWeb program is going away all together? Is there no way to transfer it to the iCloud?  Why would they come out with iLife 11 with iWeb if they have no intentions of continuing iWeb?????  HELP!!!!!  I have to make sure the site is active. Do I have to redo the entire frikin calendar on google?
    Some one give me answers...Thanks!

Well, it leaves you still being able to host your site on MobileMe until June next year.  iCloud and MobileMe will exist together until this time.  This gives you time to find alternative hosting for your site.
iCloud will NOT be providing hosting, which is exactly why Apple gave MMe users plenty of notice that this would be happening so that they could prepare and move to other alternative hosting.
What you need to do is have a look at web hosts such as GoDaddy and HostExcllence and purchase a domain name from them as well as hosting and you can upload your website here with no problems.  Either publish to a local folder or use the iWeb built in ftp to upload.
iWeb is an application and if you have it you can still use it.  It works with Lion and Snow Leopard.  No you don't have to re-build.  Continue to use iWeb.
Yes, iLife 11 was brought out, but did you not notice that iWeb and iDVD were not updated as part of this?  They upgraded GarageBand, iPhoto and iMovie but not the others, so even though it is iLife 11, it is still iWeb 09.
Your website will be okay hosted on MobileMe until June next year and after that you'll need to upload to another host.  iWeb will continue and you can still use it - you don't need to re-build all your sites.

  • IWeb 08 won't publish

    iWeb 08 version 2.0.4
I was registered with MobileMe and had a MacMail email account, but when Apple decided to end MobileMe and replace with iCloud, my IT person said not to upgrade to iCloud as there could be conflicts with my software.
I managed to retain my MacMail accounts which are working fine now, and I did follow the instructions for iWeb before the changeover.
Since the changeover from MobileMe to iCloud, I find that I can no longer publish iWeb, and when I try to access my website on Safari it comes up with 'Service not available'.
I have been in touch with my IT person and my web hosting company and have spent the last few days trying to get this sorted, all to no avail.
When I try to publish my iWeb site, a dialog box comes up with 'Publish your website to MobileMe" and then it takes me to iCloud and of course it cannot be published. Does this mean I'll never be able to make any more changes to my website? I could just live with that, or would it be worth considering upgrading to iWeb 09 or is that very painful? I'm very concerned that if I did upgrade to iWeb 09 from 08, that all my pages might change drastically.
Hope someone can help me please through this very traumatic time.
    Thanks

Its hardly worth your while upgrading to iWeb V3 since a lot of the features are redundant now that MobileMe has closed...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/mountain-lion.html
For less than the cost of an out of date iLife disk with iWeb V3 you can buy a new application that is actually being developed!
In the meantime, publishing your website to a local folder has the added advantage of allowing you to add tags for SEO ...

  • IWeb 09 and web site on MobileMe...

    Hi !
I hope that somebody will be able to tell me how to resolve this issue...
I did reinstall from scratch my MacBookPro and install iLife '11. I didn't use Time Machine to restore backups but choose to reinstall all the softwares that I have. All my documents backup are on my iDisk on MobileMe.
    I did publish a web site with iWeb' 09 at www.marcmartineau.com .
Now, it's time to update this site. There is NO WAy I can open this site with iWeb'11 as it asks me all the time to create a new site or a new page.
Do you know how I can open my old published site with iWeb'11 ?
I just hope that I'm clear with my question... As english is not my native language...
THanks everybody for your help !
    Marc

Firstly, it is still iWeb 09 that you are using - it is iLife 11, but iWeb was not updated so it is still 09 that you are using.
You did make a backup of your site if you have a published site. iWeb will not be able to open a site that has already been published as it has no import facility for html.
If you don't have a backup of your domain.sites files found under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites, then there is nothing you can do except re-build your site from scratch.
Remember the importance of backing up your domain.sites file next time.
