My iLife is lost

Hello. I have recently upgraded to Snow Leopard, which I really like but I have seen to have lost my iLife in the mean time.
I do not have the original disk that I had it on, is there anyway that I can get it back?
Or anyway that I can down load it from some where?
Any suggestions please? Or do I just need to go and buy a new version?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you have the system install disks that came with the computer or are those the missing disks you're referring to? If you have those dissk the iLife apps will be on one of them. If you had purchased iLife 08 separately then you'll have to purchase a new copy.
With the possibility of iLife10 being released next month around the time of the MacWorld Expo (and that's just a guess based on earlier releases of iLIfe upgrades) you might want to wait till then to see if it will be released. That is if you can live without your iApps till them. Otherwise you'll need to purchase the iLIfe 09 version.
There is no way to download iLife apps from the internet as they are not offered that way and any you might find would be pirated copies.

Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded:

Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
(Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".)

When updating to ilife I lost all my photos

I updated my ilife and then when i went to open my iphoto, all my pictures were gone. Is there any way i can get them back?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on eight different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.

Iphoto ( ilife 06) lost all of my icons to link back to my iphoto pics!

I have 21,000 images in my iphoto 06 application and it asked me to rebuild the desktop images.. i clicked yes and then it was rebuilding and when i came back to check on the progress- all of the images were gone- pooof! i checked the images folder and found that the files were there... and when i click on the file in the iphoto image browser.. it has a "?".... i thought of re-importing the images... but i had 21,000 organized... in about 124 folders... any suggestions? like a fresh rebuild from the source files? help! thanks a bunch!

The ! or ? turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
The most common cause of this is User Activity in the iPhoto Library Folder in the Finder.
Have you altered, moved or renamed anything in the iPhoto Library Folder?
If you haven't, then try rebuilding the database. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose the top three options.

Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums back.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

I lost most of iLife apps is there a way i can get them back?

I lost almost all my iLife apps when someone from family accidently deleted them. I have lost the CD you got with the mac a long time ago.
Is there a way i can recover all those apps? I need iPhoto, iWeb, Garageband, iMovie.

Either call Apple customer services and see if they can replace your original discs,
or buy a copy of iLife '09 or '11 {'11 doesn't include iWeb, I understand} from Amazon MP (etc),
or buy them individually from the App Store {iWeb will not be available on the App Store and nor will iDVD}
If you want the retail disc I'd hurry - Apple no longer sell iLife on disc, and prices are starting to rise on Amazon already.

Installed 10.5 and lost iLife

I had to erase and install to upgrade from 10.4 to 10.5. I got it to work, but now I lost iLife. How can I get it back? iLife was already installed when I got my iMac, so I don't have the disk.

Use the instructions in this article to restore iLife from the computer's original disks, and then download and install all iLife updates that appear in the Software Update pane of System Preferences.

Lost all iLife Functions

I have recently not been able to use my iLife products, in iWeb the tab at the top appears and the Inspector appears but the main window does not appear. in iMovie the movie files have been lost, i dont know what to do at all

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Did you run any updaters or installers just before this began?
First, try deleting the preference panes for the iApps: com.apple.iWeb.plist, com.apple.iMovie.plist, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, etc. They can be found in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
Also repair disk permissions with Disk Utility.

hello to everyone! I just performed a clean install of OSX Lion on SSD and do not want to restore any backup. But I have lost the iLife suite (iPhoto, iMovie ..): if I try to download it from the app store, it tells me that I need OSX 10.9.. I tried to search all previous versions but they are only upgrade.

Lost iphoto after reinstall, dont have ilife and cant find in appstore?

I did a complete reinstall and clear on my macbook pro, I lost iphoto and garageband all those things that come with ilife. It did intiially come for free with my laptop, I read that if I go into the app store and just accept thse things I can get it back. Not true for me, I go in, log in, and they say accept but dont download or install. What are my options? I basically just want my iphoto back..

Well, mymacbook pro didnt come with any restore disks. its just got that , osx reinstall that you get from the net when you restart the computer holding down i think it was command r. the original source for me, was when i bought it, it just came with it.

Did you erase your hard drive before upgrading? If you have the install disks, you can just reinstall. Unless you have recently purchased your Mac and do not have the older versions installed, the new versions at the app store have to be purchased.

Tracks Lost? iLife Preview Still Works?

I saved and quit my garageband recording, but when I tried to open it a few hours later several error messages came up informing me that the tracks were lost. I had the option to "search" for the track, but that seems to do nothing. The iLife preview of the song still works fine, but when I open up the file all the tracks say "file not found" and are just silence. Are my tracks lost for good? Is there a way I can import the iLife preview to iTunes, because the songs were nearly finished?

Have you copied any recordings from another project into your song and then deleted that other project? That would be an explanation of why the files can't be found, because when you copy, you only refer to the original files, and you have to keep them in order for your project to work. (If you don't want that, you have to save the new file "As Archive".)
Here's what you can do:
• Make a duplicate of your project and do the following steps with the copy (in order not to mess up the project even more).
• Ctrl-click the project, and select "Show package content".
• In the package, there is a folder called "Media". It contains all the recordings of your song. I assume that you will not find the recordings that are missing, but it is worth a try.
• There should also be a folder called "Output". It should contain a file called "Output.aif", and I think that's the iLife preview file that you can retrieve and open with iTunes.

It probably came with your Mac when it was new. As you seem to have received it with Snow Leopard installed, you should have some media from which you can install it.
If not, you'll need to purchase it from the App Store.

Lost iLife after OS X Mavericks Clean Install

Hi, I just did an OS X mavericks clean install and lost the iLife suite (iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand). I downloaded the iPhoto app and Apple charged me $15 for an app I already pay. What I can do in this situation? How can I get my money and apps back?

How did you obtain the original apps that you had installed? If you have the old iLife install disk, just use that to reinstall them. If you purchased them at the app store, they should show in your purchases so you can download them again. If they were installed in your Mac and were older versions and you did not make a backup, then they're gone. When a new version is introduced, you have to purchase it again - that is how the app store works now: Apple may make an update available at no charge, but a new version needs to be purchased (you can use your older version until it is no longer compatible with the OS you are running).
