My iMac (2009) froze while we were watching Netflix. I Turned it off manually then turned it back on and got the twirling beach ball of doom. I've tried all the various reboots suggested in the manual without success. Is there anything else to do?

I'm not tech savvy so would appreciate very clear instructions if you have a suggestion that doesn't show up in Apple's as to how to get rid of the beach ball. Many thanks. Jude

You can do a couple of things. The first thing I'd try is restarting in Safe Mode. To do that when you hear the startup tone hold down the Shift Key until you see a progress bar appear. Let it fully boot, while you're in Safe Mode open Disk Utility(Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility) and Repair Disk Permissions. While you're in Disk Utility also run Repair Disk. After completing the 2 DU actions then restart normally to test the machine.

Have you tried starting up in Safe Mode (hold shift key at startup)?
If that doesn't work, try starting in Recovery mode (hold command r at startup) and run Disk Utility to repair your disk. -
Bookmarks are not syncing to ONE of my Macs, but showing up on other Mac (work), iPhone 4 and iPad 1. Macs are on Mountain Lion. Tried all of Apple's suggestions - and the one Mac is still not updating/syncing Bookmarks or Reading List. What's going on? Do I have to wait to OS update? It seems lots of peolple were having issues before ML, but I as fine. Since ML, I am having all kinds of issues!
Yeah, I literally have tried everything except deleting my iCloud account (I'm close, but that would require so many changes that it is way too painful to consider at this point).
I am still waiting to hear back from Apple Support. Hopefully something can be done, or they can do a reset on their end.

I keep getting an error when trying to update an app- cannot connect to store. I logged out from my account and tried to log back in and got the same error. I am doing all this from my phone since I no longer own a personal computer (only work) since I use iCloud and I tunes match

The nice part is that I work remotely, so I only have to wake up 15 minutes or so before the meeting.... while in email today, the computer began flashing. I had to turn off with button. When I turned it back on, I got the apple icon and the moving loading wheel. It would turn for about 60 seconds and then stop. I turned off again. I now have a black screen.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

I lost my iPhone data by mistake. There is no new back up in iTunes neither iCloud. Is there a way to get my data back?
On iTunes under preferences if you select your device, do you also see a listing of available Backup files? (vs. just the Backup you don't want)

You can see that most of my question is the title. I just upgraded to OS X 10.6.7 & have a minor problem. Mail keeps putting most of my emails into the Spam Folder. I then move them to the appropriate folders (I have several email accounts) Will this eventually train the program to know what is spam & what is not or am I stuck with constantly doing this?
Returning to Mail Preferences - Junk Mail, in the section
When junk mail arrives:
select mark as junk mail but leave it in my inbox
This should then give you the opportunity to mark it as Not Junk
and after several days it may improve.
I say 'may improve', based on my experience of when I upgraded to 10.5 a few years ago. It took a while to learn what I kept insisting was not junk. It is a slow learner but it got there.
P.S. When you are satisfied it is identifying junk reasonably accurately, you can change the Preferences setting back to 'Move it to the Junk mail box'

iPad is not recognized in iTunes. Just installed Mac OS X 10.6 and have a brand new iPad2. Tried all suggestions in the iPad manual without success.
Quit iTunes, restart your Mac and then restart the iPad and see if the iPad is recognized after that. If not, you can look through these articles.

After upgrading iTunes, I'm getting the dreaded "iTunes has stopped working" message after launch. I've tried the troubleshooting tips on the Forum without success (though most are pretty old...). Fortunately, iTunes works on my other computers, but I have iPad backups on this one that I'd like to keep. Anybody else with this issue??
My inclination is that it is something in the projects or in the manuals being linked that is the culprit because that is where the consistency lies - projects were created identically and manuals all follow identical formats. The problem typically only occurs after the project has been successfully created and the manual is subsequently updated and I am syncing the manual in RH so I can generate a new AIR file. This is the first time the project has consistently corrupted every time I try to generate the Word document after linking it in RH. This makes little sense to me since it generated fine a couple weeks ago and I did nothing special when I updated it in Word yet when I tried to update it in RH, that is when it originally corrupted. The bottom line is that I cannot 100% trust that any project I run will work the next time. I end up just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.
My problems seemed to start once I went to RH9 (from RH8) because we had upgraded from MS Office 2003 to the 2010 version and I needed 9 for the docx extension. Like I said, it is not all the time - I can be beating my head against the wall getting one of the projects to work, then create 3 more projects that have no problems and then the next one leaves me wanting to throw my PC through a window....
Deleting the CPD does not corrupt the project, it just removes my default linked document that allows me to circumvent linking the styles individually for that project. Once I have a manual linked and I remove the CPD, it just creates a new one. What I am saying is that if I delete the CPD file, it does not prevent the project from corrupting nor does it make the corrupted project viable again.

I have authorised song to the iPod without success. Any ideas?
I am unable to transfer purchased songs on my new computer to my iPod. I have authorised the new computer and also tried to drag the song over to the iPod without success. A message does appear "The iPod is synced with another i tunes library. Do you want to erase this iPod and sync with this i tunes library". Obviously I don't want to lose everything on the iPod which is what will happen if I say yes. Any ideas?
Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time (unless you manually manage your iPod's contents). If you try to sync the iPod with a new/different iTunes library, everything will be erased from the iPod and replaced with the content that is in the new/different iTunes ilbrary.
So what you will want to do is copy everything from your iPod over to your new library first. Then choose the Erase and Sync option or restore your iPod to factory settings and sync everything back over to it. See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

Went to watch a video on You Tube that I have watched before on my iMac and got the prompt that I had to upload Adobe Flash Player. Did that, and am still getting the same prompt and can't watch any videos at all. What is going on here, Apple??
I do not know how to do this with an Apple TV (I don't have one), but as far as I know Apple TV only does mirroring.
If you have an HDMI cable long enough to reach your TV from where you sit, then it's easy. The TV could be set up in Extended Desktop mode (mirroring off) as if it was simply another computer monitor, and then you could just drag windows to it. If you have the Displays icon in your menu bar, that's where the setting is, or if the icon is not there, then the setting is in the Displays system preference. But again, that's for conventionally connected monitors, not Apple TV. If you don't have an HDMI cable and wanted a long one that's affordable you can get those at monoprice.com.
The answer we are still waiting for is if anyone knows if Apple TV can be used in extended desktop (non-mirroring) mode.
