  • I have a 3rd generation ipod, the screen is broken and the battery is dead, I wanted to know if I can get an exchange for that towards a iphone 4

I have a 3rd generation ipod that was my daughter's.  The screen is broken and the battery is dead but is there any exchange programs to get her a iphone 4?  Her contract for Verizon is up in March 2013 but I wanted to get her an iphone for christmas.  Can anyone help me please?

There is no exchange program. If the damage was caused by the user, it also wouldn't be covered by any warranty, so your best bet is to try to sell it as is or get it fixed and then sell it or keep using it. Some resellers will accept trade ins - I know this company accepts trade ins, but it may just be Macs, not iDevices - you can check though:

Try running in Safe mode.  This leaves out some video drivers.  Which results in machine not using advanced video hardware.

  • Broken key... how to replace

my right apple-key is physically broken. It still sends the signal to the computer when i press it, but it's wobbly and will come off from time to time. by looking at it, i can see exactly what is wrong and it's only the grey-plastic part of the key that is broken. If i get a new one I believe I can stick it back on there pretty easily. My question is, if I go to Apple for a new command key will they need to replace it themselves (i.e. send my computer away for who knows how long) or can I just get it fixed on the spot. Or can I call apple and have them ship me a key? or does anyone know where I can get an individual key for cheap?

    Hi
I've had one of my keycaps broken off before and had luck replacing it with parts from powerbookmedics.

It may be easier to talk to someone there in order to get the keycap you need. (I could not get the "apple key" to come up in the shopping cart)
    Good luck.

  • Imac G5 grayish screen with apple in the middle and then it turns black

    Hey all,
Im really stressed about my Imac. Its about 3.5 years old. I never had a problem with it until today. I turned it on and all of a sudden it went grey with an apple in the middle. Then it turns black! So what can be wrong with it? Does this mean I lost everything on my computer. I dont have any back up files on my Imac cause I never thought this would happen. Im worried cause I have all my photos on it and music. What should i do? My main thing is that I don't want to lose my stuff on my Imac.

You could see if the suspect iMac can be
started up in FireWire Target Disk Mode.
Connected to another Mac, with a proper
FireWire cable, the other Mac could see
the hard disk drive in your suspect Mac
as just another external hard drive; and
you could try to reclaim files from there
into the healthy Mac's drive or burn the
files over onto removable disc media.
What computer are you using to post here?
{Although the thread you are in now does
pertain to the 'first series' flat panel G4
iMac, the symptoms and some issues
behind them would not be dissimilar in
    a G5 verses those in a G4...}
Will the computer start up in SafeBoot?
That's with the Shift key held awhile
until the screen appears, and a login
window is there. If you can do that,
then you may also be able to repair
disk permissions and see if it would
restart. And, you could also see if
the computer can start from the OS X
installer disc; to run 'repair disk' or
also to try to run Startup Manager
and see if you can get the Apple
Hardware Test to start the Mac.
There may be some problem, but to
identify the cause will involve some
    troubleshooting. My immediate issue
in this question is my lack of sleep.
So, I may have to mentally shut down
for a time and reboot tomorrow!
You could try and see if resetting the PRAM
can help this, since it is non-invasive:
Try resetting the P-RAM. Hold optionapple+pr
keys down until you hear the boot chime 3 times.
You can invoke the Startup Manager on bootup
by holding down the Option key to see choices
to include a Hardware Test on an installer disc.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Hoe can I securely recycle iMac with blank screen - should I remove the hard drive, and anything else?

My iMac died after 8 years - blank screen, loud fan noise, no way to erase personal info.  To recycle should I remove hard drive, and anything else?

Removing the hard drive should suffice. Use Google to find takeapart instruction, using you iMac's processor description in the search.
At eight years old, it is probably a G4 (the "desk lamp" style with an articulated display arm and white hemispherical base). So the search string would be  "iMac G4 takeapart." If it turns out to be some other processor, simply substitute that processor (G3 or G5) for "G4."
The HD may not be bad, so you could keep it and connect to a newer Mac to retrieve files using this handy and inexpensive gadget:
    Newer Technology Universal Drive Adapter - connects ATA/IDE/SATA to USB2 - 2.5", 3.5", 5.25" Drives

  • How do you back up your phone when the screen is broken and the phone is locked?

My screen is no longer functional. I am going to take it to the apple store for a replacement byt I would like to back up my files first. When I try to do it my computer tells me I can't without the phone being unlocked. Is there anything I can do?

Sorry. you don't. If you use the same computer you normally sync with, you would not be prompted for the passcode unless you set the passcode since the last time you synced it.

  • I have an iPhone 4S with a smudge or smear under the front glass screen and a cracked backplate. How do you fix the front screen? HELP!!

How do You fix a iPhone 4S with a smudge under the front screen and a shattered backplate?

You can purchase replacement parts from a third-party vendor, or a replacement iPhone from Apple.  If you choose the former, there are many online videos to assist you with the teardown and repair.

  • Is there anyway I can get my photos from my iPhone 5 if the screen is broken? the DCIM folder just shows up as empty?

Is there anyway of transfering photos from my iPhone to my PC, Siri works its only the actual screen that doesn't work but as there is a password on my account I cant unlock it so the DCIM folder shows up as empty.
    Thanks all!

No. Not without getting the display replaced first. Many Apple Stores in the US and UK can replace the display on the iPhone 5 or 5c (but not the 5s currently) for $149. Make an appointment at the genius bar.

  • Glass screen broken :(

Hi, I openend my macbook today and the glass screen was loose in the top corner near the webcam. I just pushed it back and it seemed ok but when I opened it at the office the glass was cracked. The display is ok, can the glass be replaced by apple? I found a company that replaces the glass for 300 dollars and it said apple doesn't sell the replacement part?

Again, press this with AppleCare. Even if it means asking for someone in Customer Relations (that's the magic phrase to use when you get to that point--you'll know what points that is) and repeating your threat to buy a Dell, be persistent and it will pay off. They don't say that Apple has the best customer service in the business for nothing.
On the chance that this fails, and they will not replace it, then by all means use the repair center that will replace just the glass. I know I've seen pages full of ads for iPod and MacBook glass replacement specialists in MacWorld, so you can even shop around.
As I said, though, try Apple first. Be polite but firm that you didn't abuse or damage your MacBook and you insist it be replaced under warranty, and they ought to repair it.
