My iMac camera keeps disconnecting while i'm on facetime, and then i don't know how to turn it back on, help?

Basically those playlists were just 'Smart Playlists' created by iTunes.
To re-create them, click File > New Smartlist. Then select 'Date Added', 'in the last', '2' and 'weeks. Live updating should be checked!
Then name the playlist 'Recently Added'

Thank you for the info re. the main menu. Your answer I used worked; however, the menu bar all the way across is solid black. The only way I can find out the names on the menu is to point the cursor from left to right over the black bar to find "file" "edit" tools", etc. What do I need to do to get these menu titles to be seen?
As regarding the GMail --the menu bar used to have an envelope symbol which was white and outlined in red. That disappeared. I googled "mail.google.com" to try to get back my email. This didn't work. I then tried to get a different email address and password--after 8-19 attempts, this never worked. My other email (sbcglobal.net) has never returned. So I don't know where that went or how to get it back -

I like to keep my bookmarks as a sidebar and I don't know how to put it back on.
Before you made changes to the program there was a view button that I could click to view my bookmarks as a sidebar. I can't find how to do that now. It made things so much easier.

That sounds like a possible security software issue on the computer you are using, or are you trying to do the update via the phone OTA?
If you are trying to do it OTA, you might want to connect the phone to the computer and iTunes and attempt the update from there.
BTW, the update is iOS 6.1.3. -

Can't get iCloud to back up on IPhone 5. Have 7.1 GB available. Backup keeps failing while I am plugged in and connected to wifi. It will show backing up now and estimated time 20 plus hours and always ends up failing after a couple hours
You need at least 50 MB of free space in order to back up to iCloud. Rather than backing up, have you tried importing the photos to your computer and deleting them from the camera roll as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083?

My iMac screen keeps showing pixels of previously opened documents and Safari tabs and hour or two after closing them.
Even when I swipe to the dashboard the outlines are still there when I know they should not be.
The shadow of those opened documents are still there hours later after shutting down and restarting my computer.

You do realise that wiping the disk means that everything on the disk is erased. Everything. Photos, music, emails, ...
So the first piece of advice is to make sure you have a back up of everything.
You need the OS disk to reintsall the operating system. You will use that disk first to erase the drive, then to reinstall the OS.

As for MS Office, you will need the original disk that it came on to reinstall it. -
I have an iMac using OS X 10.4.11. Beginning several days ago, all incoming emails have, after the usual email header and before the message appears, one to two pages of technical data (e.g., Dkim-Signature, Domainkey-Signature, Content-Transfer-Encoding, etc.). This is similar and more complex that the info one receives when an undeliverable email bounces back. I don't know where this stuff comes from, or how it came, and I don't know how to get rid of it. Any ideas? I'm something of a newbie to computers (um, what's a Tag?).
That just sounds like the mail headers. Most people don't know (or care) about them so they're usually hidden.
Check Mail -> Preferences -> Viewing -> Show header detail
I'm guessing it's set to 'All'. Switch it to 'Default' or None as you prefer.
