My iMac can't play video on apple site. how?

Hi all,
I can't load the videos from apple's very own website. the error message that came up was 'the file you are trying to play has failed to finish downloading and can no longer play' (DivX Plus Web Player).
I do not face this problem from other sites.
Please help and I truly appreciate!

It looks like you have added a 3rd party video app that is interferring with QuickTime, which should be the internet plug-in that is used to play videos on Apple's website.
I would get rid of any extra things like DivX Plus Web Player and install Perian and Flip4Mac, maybe Silverlight. Those are just about the only extra things you need to augment QuickTime.

Well those are javascript errors... you may have an application installed that has modified your javascript or is interfering with it. Have you tried using a different browser?

Quicktime 7.2 not playing videos on Apple site

When I try to play the video on the Apple site about Leopard or the one about iLife, it plays a couple of seconds and then freezes up. If I click the arrow to start it again, it goes back to the beginning of the clip, plays and freezes again. I have the latest updates for Quicktime 7.2 on my Mac Mini which is running OS 10.3.9. Any ideas?

This could be normal. Basically these are fast-start downloads from the web site. If it is a busy time of the day (Internet usage wise), your connection may be downloading data at a slower data rate than the player is playing the data. If this is the case, simply try a smaller version of the movie which plays at a lower data rate and which your connection may be able to keep up with or try watching when there is less traffic. Normally, if you touch nothing, the player will reset the size of the buffer needed and automatically restart playing when enough data has been cached to memory.

My iPod touch 5th gen can't play videos?

I've had my iPod touch 5th gen since Christmas Eve and I haven't had any problems with it, but a few days ago it stopped playing videos and now - even though I have turned it off and back on and turned the wifi off and back on again - it still can't play videos off any site, Facebook, dailymotion, YouTube, nothing. But I can view webpages and get Internet connection just fine!!
So if you know what I could do to fix it please help because it's very frustrating!!! Thanks

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

you have to install avs video converter and then well im not going to translate everything but it explains you all the settings to put to have a video for you ipod. after it was converted like the website says open itunes and then drop the conveerted file to itunes and it will work (well it did with me)

Can't play videos on a newly upgraded iBook

I have recently upgraded my iBook G3 to 10.4.11. I also added an Airport card and a 512 MB RAM card. I can do pretty much anything on the internet (Safari 4.0.4) but can't play videos. The picture is really jumpy & laggy and the sound continues out of sync with the picture. Am I missing something or is the computer just not advanced enough to keep up?

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Streaming video on an iBook G3 is a toughie.
Some suggestions which I found to help:
Restart the computer and open only the browser you want to use. Don't have any other applications open when you're attempting to watch streaming video.
Sometimes Firefox worked better for me than Safari (but I never used 10.4 on my iBook G3).
Some people have reported luck using VLC:

As a last resort, if possible, download the video and watch it from your hard drive.
Keep in mind that the last, best iBook G3 (900 MHz) was last produced in October of 2003, so you have a very old iBook attempting to play the latest versions of video, so things are often not very workable.

iPhoto v7 (or iPhoto 08 dates from 2007, and is looking for Quicktime 7 to play the videos - the version of Quicktime that was current then. 10.9 uses Quicktime X.
Two options:
Upgrade to a more recent version of iPhoto
or
Install QUicktime 7. You'll find an installer here

I can't open videos from apple website, it asks me to download quick time which is built in my macbook, then it asks me to update software, when i tried to do so, i got a message that everything is up to date?

UPDATE - we went to the nearest Apple Store today, and played with 6 different MacBook Airs, and found this problem on FOUR of them. They couldn't play the videos on the Apple website. This stumped the sales staff until one of them went into Safari's File menu, selected "Reset Safari", then re-booted ... and it worked!
Came home, did the same thing ... it worked.
So now my question is: why does "Reset Safari" clear this up?

If you mean "can I play a video file's video part via AppleTV and the audio part via the Macbook" then the answer is no.
You could probably play the video on AppleTv and also play it on the Macbook and output the audio, but you would have to do this manually, and 2 applications accessing the same video file might cause stuttering playback issues. Additionally you'd have to manually sync the audio and lip sync problems are annoying at the best of times.
If you mean "can I watch a video from AppleTV and play separate music via iTunes on the Macbook", then the answer is yes.

If you are using the 2nd or 3rd gen Apple TV (little black box) then it would have no syncing or storage capability.
iTunes content would be accessed using home sharing.

If you are referring to the 1st gen (bigger aluminum box with hard drive)
