My iMac doesn't think I have Safari installed

I'm currently running Mac OS X Version 10.9.5.  All my software components are up to date.  Current Safari version is: 7.1.
In a couple of cases (see below), I believe that Mac OS X doesn't think that I have Safari installed or the latest version of Safari installed.
Case 1:
When I go to WWDC online videos (any recent year, but certainly the latest: https://developer.apple.com/videos/wwdc/2014/) and try to play a video I get this:
System Requirements
To watch the streaming version of this video, use the latest version of Safari on a Mac running OS X Lion or later. Alternatively, you can watch this video in the WWDC app or download the video when available.
Case 2:
Within Safari under Preference - Extensions, I click on the "Get Extensions" button on the button right and it brings me to a web page that advertises extensions but instead of offering me to download an extension, the page instead suggests for me to download Safari 6, i.e.
You need Safari 6 to install and use Safari Extensions. Download now.
Despite this, Safari has been working normally for years now but believe my machine is in a state where it isn't completely happy.

Hi ..
Might be a cookies, cache, or extensions issue ..
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click:   Remove All Website Data
Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

I replaced my 2010-2011 iMac internal HD i dont have an install disk i created one with my external HD but when i go to install lion onto my imac it stays at the apple logo screen.HELP ME PLEASE!

Boot from the original Install disc that came with the computer and then format the drive Mac OS Extended (Journaled) using the GUID partition. Then  you can re-install OS X. If you no longer have the original media call AppleCare with the serial number of the machine (look on the bottom of the stand) and for a nominal fee they will ship you replacement media.
The chances are very good you will have fan problems if you used an off-the-shelf HD, beginning in 2009 Apple began using HD's from vendors that incorporated heat sensors into the HD. If you did not buy the same type of HD your computer will think the HD is overheating causing the fans to run at full speed.

  • Cc thinks i have flashbuilder installed

I cannot install flash builder since CC thinks I have it installed.
Flash builder is not on this machine at all. I downloaded it on a previous  computer, but there is no trace of it on this computer.
IT cloned my PC, so i think it might be in the REG or something.
I need to complete a project in flashbuilder. What can I do? when I try to even download a trial, it open the CC panel which wont Download since it thinks flash builder is up to date.

The CC version of all products will be available on June 17 per the announcement at the Adobe MAX conference on May 6.
More info in general here http://blogs.adobe.com/creativecloud/huge-announcements-at-max/ and specifically on Photoshop CC here http://blogs.adobe.com/photoshopdotcom/2013/05/breaking-from-tradition-photoshop-cc.html.

I have an Imac running snow leopard and have recently installed a cannon i-sensys lbp7750Cdn printer since then I can't get the printer working and the air port has lost the DNS servers; if it ever had them!!! but it dose not look happy and it is telling me so. Can any one help please?

Snow Leopard breaks quite a few drivers - my Canon exhibited the same problem.
I eventually found updated drivers on the Canon website. You can try that with the HP, but if the all-in-one is more than a year or so old, don't hold your breath.
You can also try Software Update to see if it will offer new drivers, or failing that go to the Support Downloads site and search for HP updates.
In fact there's a new one for HP at the top of the list just now.
You may not necessarily want the latest one, though - check the specs to see if your model is covered; if not, search for the previous update etc.

  • Why does Captivate 2 not think I have Flash installed?

Why does Captivate 2 not think I have Flash installed?  It will not start up even though I have the most recent version of Flash.  It tries to redirect me to the download page every time.

The issue is actually due to the way all versions of Captivate prior to version 5 were coded. They were not able to understand the Flash Player numbering beyond a given version. Once that version of Flash Player is exceeded, they give the same error message as shown when your Flash Player version is too LOW.
When Captivate 4 had this issue Adobe provided a download patch to resolve. But you have absolutely NO chance now of getting a fix for something as old as Cp2.

  • My brand new iMac doesn't appear to have the iDVD application - how can I get it?

How can I get the iDVD application for my new iMac.  I want to use iDVD for conveniently making DVDs of iPhoto slide shows and iMovies.  I'd be greatful for any help.  I've already tried looking through my applications, the App Store, and various Apple help menus in Lion and the Apple Tech Support Web page - so far no luck, but perhaps I'm not seeing things right.

The current Apple thinking is that the entire world has access to fast broadband and wants to distribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that nothing could be further from the truth has so far had no effect on this policy. If you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone Apple may send you a free copy of iDVD. That worked for some, but is now said to have been withdrawn by Apple. Also, you can complain bitterly here, perhaps suggesting that Apple could have provided a choice between using iCloud and burning DVDs:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that comes with OS 10.7 Lion (which also omitted iWeb) or will come with OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. And it is no longer included in the iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/ilife/. Your only solution is to look on Amazon or eBay and try to get an older version that includes iDVD.
However, the vastly more expensive FCPX can burn a DVD without iDVD or DVD Studio Pro involvement, but lack the themes etc of iDVD.

  • IMac doesn't show we have e-mail accounts

Our iMac Mail doesn't show any of our mail accounts.  It want us to set up our mail account again.  Any suggestions?

Did you ever set it up/configure it with your ISP's server addresses, port numbers, etc? If not, you will need to do so or it won't work. If you've done a reinstall or inadvertantly tossed out a needed file, Mail might think it's never been set up or the same thing can happen if you've changed ISPs. So, before you open Mail, call your ISP and get all the relevant information you need or check their website for instructions on how to set up Mail on a Mac.

  • Thinkvantage Toolbox doesn't think I have any ram

Got this notice today from thinkvanatage toolbox. I have a W520 with 8gb of RAM, 4 came with the machine and I installed another 4gb without issue about a week ago. Also, If i click the upgrade memory link it sends me to bad page on the lenovo website.
    Weird....

    Dear imlere,
We actually have two problems going on so we can tackle each in turn. However, I noticed in the screenshot that you have BIOS version 1.21 installed. Version 1.25 is available from www.Support.Lenovo.com which includes this item:
Fixed an issue where the computer with large-capacity memory installed might fail to resume normal operation from standby/sleep state.
I have no idea if that will solve the LTT issues but it sounds reasonable. Otherwise, continue below.
We are not seeing any memory installed
Could you check the system history page in LTT to see if it detected your memory installation a week ago?
    1. Open LTT and click the Lenovo Support button
    2. Select the Performance and Configuration History row to open it and click the button
    3. On the calendar, select the appropriate date on the System Changes row and look at the Hardware changes
    4. Does it show that memory was added?
Could you run a system information report and send it to me?
    1. Click the Diagnostics button
    2. Click System Information and then the Advanced System Details button
    3. Click Expand All and then Save the file
    4. Check your Private Messages page for my e-mail address to send the report
We are not detecting your MTM
The "Upgrade Memory" button is expecting to have your MTM to display a web page for your exact system. However, we are not seeing the MTM. You can confirm this because of the blank space next to Product in the upper left corner of LTT. From the screenshot, the Product (MTM) appears blank and the serial number seems to be a bunch of spaces in quotes. A BIOS update may fix this issue but the report I requested above will help us as well.

  • I can´t install After Effects in my IMac because I think I have deleted this program in a bad way so my Mac show me After Effects like installed but the program is not installed...

How could I resolve this problem?

follow solution 2 here, CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed

  • Lightroom 5 already installed, so why does the CC updater give me the option to "Install"?  Seems it doesn't know I have it installed.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Thanks for the reply.  Okay, I'm going to take a risk and install it from the CC updater.  I checked the installed version I have and it's 5.0.  Not 5.5.  I installed 5.0 originally from the CC updater app so still not sure why it doesn't seem to know I have 5.0 installed already.  Every other CC app (photoshop, illustrator, premier pro, etc.) just lets me know when there is an update available.
Anyway, I am installing 5.5 now from the updater so hopefully this will update the existing 5.0 that I have installed rather than install a separate 5.5 (meaning I now have 2 different versions of Lightroom on my mac).  And hopefully my catalog will be available and intact.
    Will let you know.
    Thanks,
    Sam

  • Why doesn't iPad 2 have siri installed in it?

I think that iPad 2 should have Siri in it,  don't you ?

Welcome to the Support Communities. No, I don't think the iPad 2 should have Siri while it's still in Beta on iPhone 4S:
...Perhaps when Siri's bugs have been fixed and it's out of Beta, Apple will put Siri on the iPad 2.

Well, pacman stores everything it knows about your system's packages in /var/lib/pacman/local -- if that dir is empty, then you're in trouble.  There's a script floating around somewhere that takes your pacman.log from /var/log and tries to re-install every package that should be on your system in an attempt to recreate /var/lib/pacman/local - I can never remember where that script is though; you'll have to do a search.

  • Restored computer thinks I have programs installed but they aren't

I had to erase my Mac hard drive and restore it from my Time Machine back-up due to problems I was having. Even though I restored it from  Time Machine, my adobe Apps were no longer installed on my computer. I am about a week into a one month trial memebership. So I went online and reinstalled the Adobe Application Manager. It is saying my programs are up-to-date, but they're no where to be found on my computer. It wont let me re-download them from the internet either. I think it still thinks they are on my computer.
Does anyone know how I can get these programs back on my computer?
    Thanks!
    Katie

Nevermind I fixed it by erasing my hard drive again and restoring to the original operating system without restoring to my Time Machine back-up.

  • Comcast wanted me to update my browser, I tried the firefox set up 5.0 exe Mozilla but don't think I have it installed. last night

I tried to update my browser, because Comcast asked me to to do that, so I could get their Xfinity Connect, instead of Xfinity Connect Lite, which I don't like, they said I was running on an older browser or operating system that is not supported by the standard Xfinity Communication Center application, in that case, you will automatically be redirected to the Xfinity Connect Lite version.

i understand. google doesn't use that link anymore. i will consider your answer a fix then. :\
