My imac freezes , need to restart everytime i wake it from sleep mode. just started happening 2 weeks ago.
For about 2 weeks whenever I return to my imac and tap the mouse to wake it from sleep mode my screen is frozen. I have tried to wait for it to unfreeze but it doesnt wake. I cannot get any results from using the mouse or the keyboard. I always have to hard reset the computer to be able to use computer again. My mac is a year old. Anyone have any thoughts as to why tis is happening? Thanks
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

P67A-GD55(B3) freezes on wake up from sleep mode (active control center)
Hi,
Problem with my PC lock screen freezes on wake up from sleep mode (active control center)
When in sleep mode while using the control center on Windows, wake-up, freezes the lock screen.
So, turn off the power. Then after about 3 seconds long, starts up automatically. And also freezes the lock screen.
So, turn off the main power wait a while and it recovers.
If not running the utility control center, no problem.

This is the second time this has happened, since installing OS X (9 mos. ago). (I can't recall the fix from the last incident.) Upon waking the pc up from sleep mode, I get a gray screen. Nothing works except using the Command and P & R keys to get to "reinstalling OS X", to no avail. What do I need to do to get it back to normal?
My imac is a 21.5", mid 2011 item. Those keys do not reinstall OS X. To do that:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
COMMAND-OPTION-P-R keys resets the PRAM. OS X keyboard shortcuts. -
My iMac won't automatically connect to wifi after waking from sleep mode
After dowloading the newest software update and performing a firmware update for my Airport router, my Imac won't connect to Wifi automatically after waking from sleep mode
Please re-download and install the 10.7.3 update. You can locate it at 10.7.3 (Client Combo). Follow the on-screen instructions. Then test it out, if you still have the same problem please restart, when you hear the startup tone hold down the Option Key and then choose the Recovery Partition. Then open Disk Utilities and Repair Disk Permissions 2x. Then exit DU, restart normally and re-test.

Macbook Pro crashes everytime it wakes up from Sleep
Hi all. I am experiencing a problem of crashes everytime I try to wake up the computer from sleep my Macbook Pro 2010, be it a long sleep or a short sleep.
I did not have any problems at all on Mac OS X Lion and a week ago, I upgraded to Mountain Lion and all those problems occur. So, I decided to roll it back to Lion and did a clean install of Lion but after trying out 3 times, I still cannot resolve the issue.
The problem is when I sleep the computer or close the lid, it sleeps and there's no problem. But when I try to wake up, the screen shows up, it looks alright at the first glance and when I start to move my pointer, the pointer becomes a loading sign and I cannot do anything except moving that loading pointer. I have to force restart my computer everytime it happens.
I really really need help to resolve this issue. I tried resetting SMC & PRAM but nothing helps. I am not using any external input devices or displays.
Hope to see some responses for my problem. Really appreciate it!
RegardsSounds like a hardware problem.
Try doing this.
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
And this.
Mac OS X 10.7 Help: Reset your computer’s PRAM
And if it still does it open Disk utility and see what the SMART reading is.
Could be the hard drive is starting to fail or you have it to full of data. -
IMac Mid 2010 kernel panic after wake up from sleep mode
Hello.
One month ago starting my iMac Mid 2010 occasionally goes to kernel panic. When I click on mouse or press any key, system starting up, but very very slowly, (time on logon screen stay same without refresh) and after few minutes (from 1 - 10 minutes) kernel panic message is appear on screen. I have Mac OS 10.7.5 version installed.
Is there any tool to debug what is wrong. Windows OS has WinDebuger to detaily look inside to core dump and analyze it and in my experience almost allways is possible to detect root of problem.
First of all i was try HW diagnostic from DVD, succesfully passed. Then I run Permission Repair procedure, there were many folders and files with different ACL as system expected.
It is possible that graphic card driver is wrong or has bug from my point of laic view.
I have minimum application with kext installed into system:
VMware fusion
NTFS-3g ( long time same version )
There is part of long kernel panic message:

Can't use mouse/keyboard/trackpad when waking iMac from sleep mode
Basically as the title says. When I wake my iMac from sleep mode I am unable to use my keyboard/trackpad/mouse during the login window. Once the screen goes black by itself, after a minute or so I can then log in properly.
Yes the keyboard/mouse/trackpad are all connected when it wakes from sleep as I can use any of them to wake it from sleep, I just can't move them or type with them in the login window.
Processor 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 24 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB
Software OS X 10.8.5 (12F37)Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
IMac occasionally fails to wake from sleep mode
This is a transient problem. Happens every 2-3 days that computer fails to wake up from sleep mode. Space bar doesn't do anything and I finally have to unplug it and reboot. I have a late 2008 iMac and am running Lion. It has started doing this after I installed Lion but doesn't seem to be related.
It's tough to troubleshoot intermittent problems. You can try by restarting in Safe Mode, this will clear some caches. It's possible one or more is corrupt.

IMac wakes up from sleep independently
My iMac wakes up from sleep mode. Sometimes I have to login, sometimes not. Time Machine is inactive because the external HD is not connected. I´m a new Apple-User, switched just about 14 days ago to Apple and I don´t find a solution for my problem.
I have the same issue. I'm also not using Time Machine on my iMac. It happens within the same couple of hours every few evening. I think it might be a process / update that is looking for updates in the background. I think I'm going to check the logs next time it happens.

Everytime I wake up my computer from Sleep Mode the sound starts to crackle on my X-Fi?
Sometimes I'll be playing a song and a few seconds in it starts to crackle and distort the music. I notice that it only happens after my computer wakes up from sleep mode. Usually restart can fix the problem.
I have an original X-Okay, I seem to have solved the problem I posted about earlier. I noticed that the language preference in the upper right hand corner of the screen (between the date and time and the Spotlight icon) had somehow gotten switched from American English to French. When I switched it back to American English, my password worked when waking the computer from sleep mode. I have no idea why changing the language preference would affect the way the password works but that seems to have been the case. I'll post again if I experience more problems.

Apple TV needs Restart for Airplay especially after resuming from Sleep Mode
1. I always have to restart my Apple TV for Airplay when I resume it from Sleep Mode. Neither my MAC not my PC nor my iPhone/iPad can connect to Airplay if it's not retsarted. I did a complete Factory Reset of Apple TV thinking it would be the best way of troubleshooting but in vein. Any help/suggestion/tips from anybody please?
2. Also - Does Apple TV needs internet always for Airplay? I guess that should work on the LAN even if there is no internet connectivity, Correct?

IMac freezes up after awaking from sleep mode. I then Force it to shut down
My iMac freezes up after awaking from sleep mode. I then Force it to shut down and it freezes up during startup. Any clues out there? This is a first generation iMac G5 17".
Welcome to Discussions - check and see if you're included in Apple's Repair extension programs, your power supply or capacitors might be bad.

Hello! When my IMac awakens from sleep mode, my log in screen is frozen (I can't type anything) and there is no cursor.
I can turn the computer off and on again and then I have an active log in screen, but if I walk away from the computer and it goes into sleep mode and i have the same problem trying to bring it back from sleep mode.
Thoughts?Hey Kristogirl,
I understand that when waking from sleep mode, your iMac freezes. Try executing these two troubleshooting steps:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
OS X Mountain Lion: Reset your computer’s PRAM
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11243
If neither of those help the issue, I would follow the steps in the next article, specifically the "If the issue occurs in various applications, or in Mac OS X" section:
Mac OS X: How to troubleshoot a software issue

Programs freeze after waking from sleep mode
For some reason if I put my MBP into sleep mode (10.6.3), any programs I try to start up will freeze (I would to force quit since nothing opens). Any programs that were open prior to going into sleep mode working fine, unless quit it and then try to restart the program same problem (so if firefox open before sleep placed my laptop in sleep mode then I wake the laptop, firefox works fine. Now if I were to quit firefox after my laptop was turned on from sleep mode then I quit firefox and try to reopen it, then firefox icon just bounces up and down and nothing happens and it freeze and I have to force quit). The only way is for me restart the laptop, but even then its a temp fix.
Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk.
You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Utility reports and if DU was able to repair them. Disk Utility's Disk Repair is not perfect and may not find or repair all directory issues. A stronger utility may be required to finish the job.
After that Repair Permissions.
No need to report Permissions errors....we all get them.

Support for Intel SE7501Wv2 SCSI server board
I see in HCL on Sun's page that SE7501Wv2 mother board is reported to work, but will the version with SCSI controller SE7501Wv2 SCSI work too? The SCSI controller on that board is I think from Adaptec.
