My iMac harddrive crashed and was replaced and I would like to put my iTunes library back in to computer off my iPod. Is it possible and how do I do it?

I just got my Mac back with a new hard drive. I lost part of my iTunes library but it was saved before the loss of the hard drive on my iPod Classic. Is it possible to use the iPod as an external hard drive and regain my library on my computer? If so, how do I do it?

Or so I thought.... The Note 3 has been horrible. I am on my second phone(replaced it under warranty) and it still freezes, shuts off on its own, and will not come back on for long periods of time. Having had enough, I decided to EDGE Up to another device. On March 16th I tried to edge up my device online but was unable to. I immediately called to figure out what the problem was. Back in October I had a mix up in my billing where I had set up a payment. It was not done properly by customer service and as a result my line was cut off. I called the EXACT day it went off, filed a complaint about the lack of follow through for my arranged payment, and thought I had it straightened out as the payment was made that same day. That incident, although it was a Verizon error, caused my Edge Contract to be "hotlined". I spent an hour on the phone on March 16th clearing the whole mess up. When the conversation ended, the Verizon representative admitted it was a Verizon error, documented everything, and then told me she was filing a release for the hotline hold that would take a couple of days. Her name was Linda and I stupidly trusted what she said.
The days passed as I prepared to have a major foot surgery and to get my classroom straight before I would be out recovering for 3 weeks. All the time, my Samsung continued to glitch out like it has since I got it! While sitting on the couch recovering, I decided to deal with the phone issue again and EDGE UP. I figured 10 days latter, Linda would have taken care of the issue. Unfortunately, I faced the same problem and was told it was not eligible to edge up at this time. BACK on the phone again, 2 supervisors, 3 customer service reps. ( JOE from New York being the rudest customer service rep. I have EVER worked with) and 4 frustrating HOURS latter, Jason, the equally rude supervisor from Rochester, New York, informed me that Linda gave me BAD information, there was NOTHING he could do, and I am NOT eligible until April 14th!!!!! The WORST experience I have EVER had with a company. They were completely inept, rude, and not concerned about my time, my frustration, or the problems I was facing with their product in the LEAST. I have 4 LINES on Verizon that I am going to talk to Sprint about buying out. It was a horrible experience, and I can NOT believe I have no recourse or anyone to talk to....

Edge has very clear restrictions, one being that you must have 6 months of clean payment history which you don't. Either wait until April 14, or good luck at Sprint.
I am unsure how it can be determined the payment mix up was the fault of CS, but regardless, the mix up was done. There can be any number of reasons why a payment could be missed without any fault on your part, however you are still the responsible party for the account and must live with the repercussions.

But I must point out that leaving the iPhoto Library on the external is worth considering. Your internal drive would be better off without having to carry the photos.
When you booted with the external connected and you were asked for the library, did you try navigating to the Library in on the external drive?

Is your "home computer" the same as your laptop or are these two different machines?

Do what Roger says above.
Do you have 'in-app' purchases enabled on an iPhone/iPad or other device that kids or other family members use ? That could be the issue.
If not change your iTunes Store password to try to prevent whatever is doing this making further charges.
Also if you can't find the cause, talk to your cc company.

Go to the iTunes Store, log into your account, and click the Purchases link under the Quick Links. From there you should be able to re-download some or all of your purchased content. Note that not all content has been licensed for re-downloading in all countries at this time; you can see what content you can download here:

For content not purchased from the iTunes Store, as John said you'll need to restore from your backups or get the content from whatever place you got it originally.

You don't. the ipad is not a backup/storage device. it simply mirrors the selected content of your computer. The sync is one way - computer to ipad. The only exception is itunes purchases.
Did you fail to maintain a backup copy of your computer?
If so, not good.
You may be able to purchase a third party program, not supported by Apple, to get the other music.

No, it will sync the ipod to the content of the MBA which presumably has nothing on it (= erasing content of iPod and replacing it with nothing).

There are many ways to accomplish this, depending on how you want it. Setting up multiple accounts is easy under System Preferences:Accounts. After that open iTunes on your newly created account.
Now, is where you could do a couple of different things. If your PC is sharing the same network and you are able to see the files on the PC from the iMac, then just drag and drop the iTunes Library music folder structure (just the part that contains the actual music) into the iTunes window. If you can't access the PC files, then you need to copy them all to an external hard drive, and import them w/ the same method.
If you don't want to create a second root-level account for yourself, but want to keep the music library separate, create another iTunes Library. You do this by holding down the Option key while starting iTunes, then click on the Create Library option. Then import the music using either method above.

Hello apple support community! I'm trying to download my music purchases from iTunes onto my old Mac Mini. It runs OS 10.4.11 and doesn't have the capacity to upgrade to a newer OS. When I ask iTunes to check for available downloads, it says there are none. I have tried updating the iTunes software (version 9.0.2) but it can't connect to the server, even though I am on a wireless network. I've tried using home sharing and file sharing with my macbook air, but neither are working. Grateful for any suggestions!! The only thing I really use this mini for is music, so really hoping to be able to get my music purchases on there. Thanks.

Thanks, Jim, for taking the time, but the reply is unfortunately vague in the exact area of my confusion! "you need to copy that file to your new computer..." Well, the Import/Export instructions make it seem as if the two computers should be able to communicate this file thru wifi, but that's the linkage I can't seem tocreate with Import/Export. Should I instead email a copy to myself (thats what applecare suggested)? Copy it to and from a thumb drive? But then place the file where? And the article was helpful, but should I be trying to move the Library file or the Library.xml file (as iTunes Help suggests)? Sorry to be so clueless about it...I suppose I buy Apple in the hopes of not having to think about this stuff, which approach seems not to be serving me well. Thanks again for your time!

The thing I hate about iTunes Match is that if I don't have access to WiFi or Cellular then I have NO ACCESS to my music. Since I travel often and am frequently in situations where there is no Wifi/Cellular (or it's to expensive when in another country) I'm left with no options.
My question is - How do I download my ENTIRE ITunes Library to both my computers, iphone and ipads?
I can't image clicking the "download icon" on 50,000 songs... is there a workaround for this?

I am having an issue with iTunes seeing my music on my server because when I directed iTunes to the location of my music folder it installed an iTumes folder and doubled up size of the music in the folder causing an issue with the amount of space left on the HDD. I was unaware that iTunes did this and would like to start all over again but have the iTunes folder on a different HDD from the HDD with the music on it.
Am I asking for something that is not able to be accomplished or is there a way to do this?
I am unable to keep the music on my laptop because the HDD is setup in a triple boot(XP, Vista, Win7) and each partition has less than 50GB of space left in it and I have alot more music than I have space.
I have readjusted the files on my server as I used to share some of my documents on the HDD where the music was located but there still is an issue with space once iTunes doubles up the files. I have a HDD attached to the server specifically for iTunes once I get this issue solved with more than enough space.
I would like to get this issue solved so that I can install iTunes on my identity on my wife's computer and want to be able to direct iTunes to the locations of files and folders without any conflicts.
