MY iMac has decided that it no longer wants to find my HP air printer have tried to search for it manually but nothing is found, ipad and iPhone both connect with it straight away no problems printing from these devices just the iMac any help would be appreciated

Restart your router as well as your Mac and printer.
If that doesn't help, try wireless diagnostics.

You're welcome. It's amazing how many problems can be sorted out simply by restarting ALL devices involved. That's my first troubleshooting step when I have issues like that - restart everything and try again.

Your points match mine pretty well,though here are some thoughts:
1. I thought about this theory myself this morning (iTunes possibly causing more issues), but I haven't been able to verify it.
2. When I set up a new user it seemed better for a while, but the issue croppped back up. Yesterday I fully wiped the machine and reinstalled from scratch. I did not reimport my user from TimeMachine, but the problem has come back. My thinking was that I might have some really old software or prefs hanging around causing the issue. No dice.
3. This is my current theory of the issue, so my next step will be to pull the RAM from Crucial and see how the system behves. IF that doesn't eliminate the problem, I'll pull the factory installed RAM and replace it with the 3rd party RAM. The odd thing is how many people seem to have similar issues - I know two personally, and have seen several posts on forums. I think the most common point for this happening was the 10.7.2 update, which would point to software as the culprit.
4. That matches my experience.
My hope is that this will be repaired in the forthcoming 10.7.3 release (current production version is 10.7.2), but otuside of what I noted above, I'm at a loss.

Your issue is the most FAQ in the forums, it is an ongoing problem with Tiger waiting to be fixed by Apple. Till then, forget your aliases and use either Command-K or from the Finder Go-->Connect to Server and enter the remote Mac's IP address to connect.
Also, Open Utilities-->Terminal and type lookupd -flushcache (Press Return) and reboot. Do this for both macs.

Boot off your *original* Install Disk while holding down the *d key*, (not c key), then run the extended Apple Hardware Test. Some disks require you to use the Option key at bootup to select AHT. Some models have a separate AHT CD. Some have it on the Disc #2.
The Memory test can really only be trusted if it finds a problem, not if it doesn't find a problem.

My home imac has crashed and will not boot up and I'm not sure where to start.
It wouldn't shut down properly so I turned off the power, and now it won't go beyond the apple logo and timeer when I try to restart it.
It is an imac (4 years old), Intel, running OS X, not sure which version, but probably the latest.

I would first reset the SMC:
Shut down and unplug the Mac.
Keep the Mac unplugged for at least fifteen seconds.
Plug the Mac back in and do not turn it back on for at least five seconds.
Press the power button to turn the Mac back on.
Then I would reset the PRAM by rebooting the iMac while simultaneously holding the Command-Option-P-R keys until the machine restarts a second time.
Let us know if these two procedures don't solve the problems.

Upgraded my Mac mini server and now a few of my Mac mini's will no longer find the network home folder. I get this error message "Home folder isn't found in it's usaual place." When I use the same account with an iMac or another Mac mini the network user account logs in with out a problem.

Asus laptop will no longer connect wirelessly to HP printer

My Asus laptop was connected to my HP PhotoSmart 7420 printer, wirelessly with no issues. In the last month, I upgraded my Comcast internet service to the fastest speed Comcast has available. In addition, I replaced my router ( Linksys Model: WRT1900AC) & range extender (NetGear Universal Dual Band Wi-Fi Range Extender, 4-port Wi-Fi Adapter). Every WiFi related item in my home works much better with the exception of the printer. On my laptop, I removed the HP printer and asked the laptop to search for it to re-install; the laptop indicates "no printers available"? Even my desktop PC sends error messages indicating that the "scan to computer" feature no longer works when, in fact, it does work?
Help!

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I wasn't able to find much on a Photosmart 7420, did you perhaps mean Photosmart 7520?
If that is correct, this may just be a case of needing to reconnect the printer to the wireless network again due to the upgraded router and extender
To do this, please restore the network defaults on the printer (press the wrench on the printer's touch screen, select Wireless, then select Restore Network Defaults, should be the last option) and once that completes go back to the same Wireless menu on the printer and run the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer. This will update the connection on the printer itself.
After this completes you will need to remove the driver and re-add it on the computer. How this is done depends on the operating system, so if you're not sure how to remove the driver and re-add it, please let me know which operating system you use and I will get you some instructions

My early 2008 iMac has Version 10.7.3 but does not have "Messages" on it. It does have iChat. My early 2008 MacBook Pro has the same version of Lion but it does have "Messages" Where can I go to download "Messages" for my iMac. It is infinitely more useful than iChat

Cannon PIXMA MP495 has decided it will not print from iMac

Sorry to trouble you all! I have recently had to erase and reinstall! Unfortunately I have been unable to recover the settings for my printer which was working on a wifi link. I have tried to bring the software back from Time Machine but unsuccessful. It is still working for our Windows Laptops though! I simply have tried just about everything - downloaded several pieces of software and drivers etc to no avail. I have connected with usb without problems but this is not what I had wanted.. I have searched several forums for help but nothing relates to same problem. Would really appreciate any advice you may have. Thank you.

You mentioned having the USB still connected when you were creating the network queue. I just wonder if when you use the Canon utility to print a test page, could this be via the USB print queue rather than the wireless queue?
At this stage, if you haven't done so already, I suggest you disconnect the USB cable and the power cord to the MP495. Leave it off for about 30 seconds and then turn it back on, leaving the USB disconnected. If you then open Print & Fax and select to add the wireless printer again, and then select the entry that shows canonijnetwork, this should create a new queue (you may want to remove the previous network queue first and also remove the USB print queue, as this can create some confusion when selecting to print).
If this new queue still fails to print then download the [Canon v2.4.1 driver update|http://support.apple.com/kb/DL899] and install.

IMac will no longer find my wireless network.

Hello, I have seen several posts for this on the net but no one seems to have a resolution. I have an iMac running OS X 10.6.3. I was not having any issues connecting to my personal WEP password protected network until just a few days ago. My computer does not list my network as an available option anymore and despite my best efforts I cannot get it to reappear. I have tried refreshing my IP address, removing preferred networks, deleting key chains and everything else I can think of. I had not changed any settings or downloaded any updates so I'm not sure why it suddenly stopped working. I have reset my router multiple times and even moved my computer so its right next to it and still nothing. Any suggestions would be great. It can find all of my neighbors networks just not mine. My roommate also runs a PC laptop and has no issues logging in.

Turn of the MG and unplug the power cord. Leave it off for about a minute and then reconnect the power cord and turn the power back on. Wait while the device attempts to reconnect to your wireless network - the blue wifi symbol on the MG will flash and then stay on once it has connected. If it keeps flashing then you will have to reconnect the MG to your wireless access point via the control panel on the MG.

IMac has decided to start typing letters on its own even when a keyboard isnt connected.

i have an imac that is just over a year old that has at first started typing what looked like latin or greek letters it was running Lion so i upgraded it to Mountain Lion, fixed any permission errors on the drive and then zapped the PRAM. Now its phantom types single letters like "o" or "i" even when there is no keyboard attached.
this occured even when i had booted from a thumb drive so i could run the hardware test (which i had to set in sys prefs because holding opt wasnt working on startup to select startup drive).
any ideas or help would be appreciated

Since this occurs when booted from a different system (on the thumb drive) it must be a hardware issue. You will need to get it looked at and repaired.
Contact Apple using www.apple.com/support/contact if you are in a country that supports it or call the appropriate phone number on this page. Alternatively carry the iMac in to an Apple retail store or service provider.

Yes, however it's always wise to update your apps to ensure you have the most up-to-date version. Use Setup Assistant to migrate your data, apps and settings to the new iMac, simply follow the on-screen directions. If the new machine has already arrived and you have already run Setup Assistant, connect the TM backup to the new machine and run Migration Assistant (a cousin of Setup Assistant) and follow the on-screen directions. You can find Migration Assistant in Applications - Utilities - Migrations Assistant or you can use the keyboard shortcut of Command + Spacebar and type "Migration Assistant".

My iMac and MacBook Calendar will no longer sync with iCloud. I don't understand why?

All of the sudden about 10 days ago, I noticed that when I asked to refresh my calendar, that it just hangs on both my iMac and my MacBook. And neither are syncing with iCloud calendar. I'm not certain if my iphone calendar is synching or not because nothing is getting transferred to my iMac or MacBook.
The system status says all is OK. My iCloud is still turned on for both computers. So I'm not sure what to do next.

Yes. iCloud on the web is correct although the latest stuff I added to my MacBook is not showing up because it won't sync.
In System Preferences iCloud is selected and they are turned on on both machines as always.
There are no other calendars linked to iCal. I just have a Home, Work, and Birthday and US Holidays all linked in.
I did try something on my MacBook that seemed to work. I went into System Preferences and turned off Calendars and Reminders in the iCloud setting. That prompted a message that all of the iCloud iCal data would be removed from the computer. I made sure the web version was accurate before I did this. Then I shut down my computer and restarted. When I restarted I went back into System Preferences and turned on Calendars and Reminders and now it seems to be working.
I'm about to try the same thing on my iMac.
If this works both times, my question then would be what would cause both my iMac and MacBook to disconnect as it seems from iCloud when I hadn't changed anything at all.

I was told that with the ethernet ID I could possibly track it down once it connects back to internet. unfortunatedlyI don`t have this ID number. All I gave is the serial number. The reason, I included the annotation that I'd upgraded my Itunes, (On my Computer) is B/C in many forums - the very first question, *HELPERS* ask, is. "Do you have the latest version of Itunes downloaded on your computer." I wanted to knock out any obvious replies.
