My iMac has extremely small gray lines on the screen?

My iMac has extremely small gray lines under the screen? There are 3 of them and they are right next to each other, have any of you guys experienced this? What did Apple do about it? BTW my computer is 4 months out of warranty, because i did not get the extended Apple Care, will they still fix my computer? Im really worried, but its not that noticeable, unless you already know its there.

They won't fix your computer because it's out of warranty, perhaps an AppleCare lesson learned here. Of course you can try which doesn't hurt. The longer  you wait though and the less chance they will help. Can you attach a picture so we can see what they look like?

  • My mac has small gray lines under the screen.

They're only very visible under certain colors, especially grays and on the sign-in screen. I took a screenshot and they did not appear in the photo, so I took a photo with my phone so you can see what it looks like. The part I took a photo of is the worst (aka the most visible) part, but it stretches in a line across the whole screen. I only just noticed the line, but it's only noticeable with certain colors over it, so I'm not sure how long it's been there. I got my computer in December 2009, it's a 15 inch MacBook Pro.
Any idea what may be causing this and what I should do about it? It doesn't really bother me right now, but I'm worried it might be indicative of a bigger problem!

My new iPhone 5 has black and white lines on the screen. It's not been damaged. I've tried turning it off but this does not solve the problem? Please help. I can't find my answer on the Internet.

By far the most common problem hardware-wise seems to be scuffs on the aluminium. Yours is the first report of a faulty screen I've seen.
If you use the same Apple ID on both devices it'll sync whatever you want it to - music/apps/photos/messages/etc.
I've just switched from a Galaxy S3 to iPhone 5 (having already owned an iPad for a while) so I'm in a similar position!

  • I reset my IPod touch because there were gray lines don the screen, and now the screen is flickering

I reset my IPod because there were gray lines down the screen, and now the screen is flickering, any ideas?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost (not sure which reset you did)
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My ipod touch 4 has frozen with multicoloured lines on the screen, what does that mean?

my ipod touch has frozen with multicoloured horizontal lines on the screen, what does this mean??

    - Try here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and yu can't furrly turn the iPod off, let the battery fuly drain. After charging for at least an hour try again
    - If not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My MacPro 10.6.8 has a thin green line on the screen.

My MacPro is just over a year old now and I have a thin green line on the screen. I hooked it up to my TV and on the second window (the TV) the green line wasn't there. Whats the issue? How do I fix it?

From what you are saying, sounds like a line of pixels out on the display.
Did the TV use the same connector on the computer? If not, swap the display with the TV. If you still have the line, it is one of the items that you swapped across.
Have you tried connecting the display to another computer? If so, is the line still there?
What kind of display is it? Can you swap the data cable and try a different cable, could be a cable issue.
Any adapters in use? If so, try swapping those to rule them out as a problem.

  • My iPad2 screen has 3 blocks of lines across the screen

    Hi,
Has anyone else encountered this? The blocks of lines appear to be aligned with the spaces between the smart cover and go vertically across my screen. I am using a ZAGG invisishield cover and have wiped it clean. It's most visible when the screen is white.

    Simon-
My first thought is that the invisishield cover has reacted to the pressure of your smart cover.  In other words, the lines may not be in the iPad, but between the invisishield and the iPad.
I'm not familiar with the invisishield.  If it can be removed without ruining it, you might see if that makes the lines go away.
If the lines are actually in the iPad, it may be a defect.  If convenient, show it to an Apple Store Genius.  If not, look for an Apple Authorized Repair Center near you.

  • Gray line across the screen

I turned on my I-pod and there was a long gray line that spanned the scream of my I-pod. I want to know how it got there, and most importantly how i can fix it!

Hi! Seems to me that you have done well trouble shooting your problem. If the lines don't show up on a external monitor, what else could it be?? Can you attach  screen shots?

  • My iPad has a big colors line on the screen!!! Please help me!!!

My iPad has that line crusing in the middle of the screen, can i do something?

If the reset mentioned previously does not work have a technician examine your iPad. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • HELP! my ipod has a thin blue line across the screen whenever i play videos

i got my ipod a day ago. i havent dropped it or anything and when i play a video there is a thin, blue, vertical line on my screen. is it broken or what!?

It could be a problem with the way the videos were encoded. Where did you get them from or did you encode them yourself.
If you encoded them yourself, what program did you use?

  • Thunderbolt 27' has gray lines across the screen

I have gray horizontal lines every 10 pixels on my Thunderbolt Display 27'. Does anyobody know how to solve it? I have all updates installed, I tried to un-plug/plug-in the display and restart MBP but it didn't help. What's interesting, I do not experience this problem on another display.

Did you ever figure out the cause of this?
I have the same problem when plugging my late 2013 rMBP (running Mavericks) into a Thunderbolt display. Really distracting. I have so far tried: restarting, changing resolution, changing thunderbolt ports - none of these seem to have made a difference. I've used other external monitors connected to the rMBP via HDMI, without this problem.
My next plan is to try with another Thunderbolt display in the Apple store - that should hopefully narrow it down to a display issue vs. graphic output issue.

  • My ipad 1st generation has a bunch of lines on the screen.

I have tried the hard reset and it didn't work.  I want to repair it myself.  I have changed out a screen on an ipod touch before but I need to know what parts I need to order.  Can anybody tell me?

Work down the the following until it is cured:  Restart / reset / restore / restore as new / take it to Apple.
Reset fixes 90% of problems.  You don't get into risking your data un less you get to the restore as new try. But you sound like a sensible person who would regularly back up....

  • I updated my iMac to 10.7.3 and about an hour later the screen began to flicker with a gray line on the upper side, and it also flicker green and red small pixel lines all over the screen, mainly green.

I updated my iMac to 10.7.3 and about an hour later the screen began to flicker with a gray line on the upper side, and it also flicker green and red small pixel lines all over the screen, mainly green. The computer froze with these pixels, so I shut it off and restarted it, and there were this green lines everywere. So I turned it off, and the next day I turned it on and it began to work just fine, but suddenly the same thing happened again, and when I restart the computer again there are these green and some red pixels everywere.
I've read 10.7.3 is giving people many problems, but I never saw that it gave one like this. How can I fix this, or what will Apple do to fix this problem they caused me with their update.
    Thanks

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

I think this is an excellent indicator that not only is Palm reviewing the feedback from the support forums here, but actively reviewing feedback/comments/wishes on other sites as well.
As the original poster copied this (quite solid, IMO) wishlist from Pre Central, the palm support staff acknowledged first seeing it there.

My iMac 27" is 2 years old. The screen just start to sleep every 2-3 minutes and then one has to reboot it. I bought the unit from Incredible Connections in South Africa. They sent it to the South African distributors Core. They report LCD screen defect and charged me R7500-00 to replace the screen  and sent it back after 4 weeks.
It does not  go to sleep anymore; but when switch on; there appears a flickering band of lines on the screen which last for about 20 seconds before the machines starts to work normally.
It seems there is still a screen problem!
We had to send it back again.
The other problem is that you just get no communication out of the Core workshop and you cannot communicate with the technician.
They had still not provide a technical report in spite of repeated discussion with the manager of Incredible Connections.

Sounds like the graphics card might be the problem. Run the Hardware Test in extended mode. If you get an error it can be trusted, but getting a negative may not be all that meaningful.  Bring it back to them and let them check out the machine again.
