My iMac Intel shuts off by itself and restarts
Hello,
This mac seems to sort of shut off on it's own. It doesn't completely turn off though. It doesn't really go through the boot process... it just goes back on as if it were sleeping. Unfortunately, it does it while I'm working on it. I could be just surfing the web.
Can anyone help?
Thank You,
Marc

My IPhone shut off by itself and I can't turn it back on. My lock screen button is broken and I tried plugging it into the wall but nothing happened. Can you guys please help me.
IIf the battery was completely drained it might take some time before the phone will respond. Wait at least 30 minutes with the phone connected to the charger. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the phone starts up let it continue to charge until it's 100%.
if the broken button will not let you do the reset Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support. -
My iphone shuts off by itself, and refuses to charge to any source.
I bought an ulnocked iPhone 4 a week ago in Hawaii. I'm from Argentina, so I got back and asked for a microsim card in my local carrier (Claro), which took about 4 days (they're annoying). When I finally activated my iPhone, I tried to charge it in an iMac, and all I got was the plug icon. iTunes DID recognize the device, but it was not charging. I plugged it to a wall source. The same thing happened. Then, I made a Restore via iTunes. No luck. I tried upgrading the IOS to 5.1. No luck again. The battery percentage stayed always the same. Afterwards, it started to shut off by itself. Connected to a source or not. Everytime the phone was ON again, the battery percentage became updated, which suggested me that there was occurring some charging...
The next day, I took my iPhone to a Reseller here (called iPoint -there are no Apple Stores in Argentina-) and told my problem, but, when I connected the phone there, the bolt icon finally appeared. I thought the problem was solved, but when I came back home, i realised that even the icon was there, the battery percentage didn't change either. Then it commenced to turn itself off again and again. This happens more quickly if I have the iPhone connected to a power source, but it happens anyway if it's not...
I'm feeling like I can't rely on Apple anymore as a safe choice. It use to be a warranty of perfection...
I'm a bit desperate, hope someone can help me...

Have you checked to see if the computer is overheating while gaming. Games are intense and can cause heat to rise. This can definitely cause the computer to restart unexpectedly. There are many FREE programs that you can use to check the temps.

I have upgraded to my Iphone just recently and everything was working fine until I donwloaded to ios7.0.6 and now the phone would shut down for some reason....the music or live radio would also also fades off as the power shut down. Can anyone explains this? Or better still a solution.........
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
If this doesn't change anything, backup and restore your software via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a NEW device. If this solves it, that means there is some corruption in your backup file, or maybe it's one of your apps causing the trouble. If the problem is still there, you should take it to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store for evaluation. -
I have been printing from my ipadto my wireless printer for months. All of the sudden says no printer found. Restart eyed printer still no luck. Help
Have you tried to reboot your iPad? Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try agian.
Also, try power cycling your router. Meaning, unplug it, count to 10, then plug it back in. Let it reboot and see if that helps. -
This happened after I did a software update on my phone about a month and a half ago. My phone will randomly shut off by itself and wont come back on. I had spoke with an apple repair person over the phone who told me to hold in the home button and then plug it into my computer. When the iphone said that there was an error and gave him a code he suggested that I send it in. So I did and about a week and a half later I get it back and its on. Yet the problem still occurs. It shut off twice in the same day and for several hours would not come on. When it did I called apple again and they ran a diagnostic on my phone and said it was a software issue. So then why was it not fixed? They told me they could not duplicate the problem. And now it happens about once or twice a week now. And its happening right now. I have it plugged into my computer and the apple logo with a bar below it has been on for about 20 min now. And itunes is still saying "waiting for iphone."
Hello Elliiee,
The steps detailed below can help stabilize your iPhone.
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

It shuts off by itself on averae 5 times/day
Recently my phone is shutting off by itself and when i restarted it, is either shutting off again or indicating low battery (when it was about 70%)and need to charge it right away for it to turn on.
Anyone has the same problem? You're not alone, it started happening on my 3GS and consistently turns off at 30% and cannot turn it back on via hard reset, only comes back when tethered to outlet or battery case then it's "fine".
Several others on here experiencing the same thing.
Have DFU restored as new, etc, etc.
I'm out of warranty so hoping for a fix. If you are under warranty have it replaced and see if it happens on the replacement too. Apple needs to hear about each and every case like this so they'll look into it. -
It just started about three hours ago, but my iMac keeps unexpededly shutting off by itself. It's not exactly hot, but I do play an online game but it has never done this before. Its shut off 3 times now, and the longer I keep it off the longer it stays on, but its still cutting off. Any help here?
Reset the SMC, which can fix sudden shut downs:
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer. -
Has anyone experienced problems with iPad 2 shutting off by itself? I have mine only since November 2011 and it keeps happening, recently more often. It also takes longer time to turn back on. It's annoying because it happens of course while in use. Help! Please.
D.Thanks, but it doesn't make a difference. I've tried. It just turns off in the middle of my reading or searching the web. On the beginning, it happened only once or twice but recently it happens at least once a week. I don't know if it's a warranty issue or if maybe there is simple solution to my problem...

Both towers are 2009 models, one is 8-core, the other 4. I figured the problem was with the power supply, so I just stuck the guts from the 8-core into the 4-core. It booted up with no issues at all, didn't require any updates or anything. Firefox even restored my tabs. But after about 5-10 minutes, the machine shut off at random and won't start back up. The DIAG LED lights up one LED yellow when pressed, labelled "5V STBY". Same LED on both boards.
Any ideas? I've got two really expensive paper weights at the moment, and my AppleCare plan expired 3 months ago.Dust VAC for dust bunnies
real issue can be thermal paste or lack or needing redone
dust clings to any ram or electronics or inside psu and graphic cards
motherboards both support dual processor?
thermal sensor readings from Hardware Monitor would be nice
unplugged is not enough to reset the SMC, power on button also, and every cableetc disconnected
try with one dimm too
