My IMac is bringing up an old AppleID no longer in use

I have a late 2013 iMac G4. Prior to that I had a 2011 iMac. At some point, I had an old Apple ID that I forgot the PW to.  It used a comcast email. So in 2013 I created a new Apple ID, (lost all my purchases, but that is another long, story). and I used a gmail account. I have no interest or no activity now on the comcast Apple ID. I started over completely. This new AppleID is what I have been using for 2+ years on my iPhone my iPad 4, and on my iTunes with the Mac I am typing on. No problems.
Every once in a while, vestiges of my old comcast ID comes up. I am trying to download some editing software for a new Canon camcorder and it asks for permission to install.. My comcast Apple ID comes up, already in the field. It is greyed out. I can't enter my new one.  Somewhere on this computer lingers my old account.  I am able to buy music, correctly with the newer Gmail account.
Cant figure this one out.

If you want to delete it on your iOS device, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap the account on the Accounts list, then tap Delete Account at the bottom.

  • Problem with AppleID/Authorizing music/prompting me for an old ID no longer in use

    I have a 2009 Macbook Pro with a 3.06ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8gb of 1067 Mhz Ram, 320gb 7200 rpm HD running 10.8.2, and an iPhone 4S running 5.1.1.
My issues began last year when I upgraded to the 4S. This was the beginning of iCloud, and the beginning of my nightmare. My phone constantly asked me for AppleID's that didn't belong to me and when I hit cancel, they just kept popping up. When I finally got it to my own AppleID, iCloud never fully worked and ended up screwing up all my contacts and deleting many of them until I finally turned off iCloud in favor of syncing with my computer locally. At the time I was running 10.6.8 on my mac, so I assumed it had something to do with the difference in IOS 5 (which was new) and the pre-Lion software on the computer. I waited to upgrade my mac until Mountain Lion came out recently. I did a clean install, and also did a clean install of 5.1.1 on my iphone to eliminate any issues with compatability (pre ios6). However, the problems continued. My contacts continued to have problems until I had to delete them all off my mac and just use icloud. My emails didn't sync (and still won't). My notes don't always sync. Contacts get deleted and music will no longer sync certain songs.
After dealing with this problem for quite some time, I've exausted all sources of help except the forum. I went to the Apple store, not expecting any help and they didn't suprise me there—the geniuses have been dumbed down since the 00's and the floor people only know new products because they're all hipster fanboys. I called AppleCare. No help there either because 'AppleID's are handled separately' and there's no number you can contact them on. So I emailed iTunes. They came back with the same crap everyone else told me: Deauthorize, then reauthroize the computer. Do they really think that isn't the first thing I tried? I also checked the forum here but couldn't find a similar issue. So, like most issues I have with Apple products today, I resorted to my own knowledge and ability to try and figure it out. I tried this method: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3927039?start=15&tstart=0, but when I deleted the song like it said, I was not able to redownload it. iTunes claimed I never purchased it even though my ID is listed on the song when I hit 'command I' on the song or try to play it.
Basically, iTunes thinks I have multiple ID's. When I was in 4th grade, I made the ID 'raiscool14...', then changed it later to 'reecardoesbueno...', and now to 'r.arnett91...'. I never had problems authorizing my music in the past though, because to my knowledge, each time I changed my ID it overwrote the old one. Apparantly not, because now songs I originally purchased with those older names are asking me for my apple ID and won't let me play them with my current one even though I changed it on the Apple Site. This is what I believe is the heart of the issue causing me the headache with iCloud. When I hit certain songs (about 300/3000), they won't play because they say they were purchase with "reecardoesbueno" or "raiscool14", even though, they should be working under my current ID. And most of the songs do work! So I believe the issue is with Apple, and maybe even with certain special iTunes songs. I noticed many of the "free iTunes song of the week" won't play. I also noted that when you download such songs and try to "complete the album" on the iTunes store, it doesn't recognize that song as being purchased which would indicate to me that it's entered differently in their system, which makes me think that this may also play a factor in my issues.
Also, another issue I had last year (which I don't know if it is related because I can't call iTunes), is that my iTunes account would randomly lock itself out, and then it would force me to change my password. This happened at least 6 times in a 3 month period last year while I was at school. No idea why. I emailed Apple and called AppleCare but they gave me no answer.
Anyways, if anyone can help me with this, please do. I've been an Apple customer since they had iBook's—it's all I've ever known and generally I've been very happy with the quality and service, but I can tell you the way this company has been treating customers for the last 5-10 years is atrocious. The service is, and continues to decline. I remember a time when you didn't even need a genius bar appointment, and the floor people would often try to help you on the spot! Now they're all tied up in beurocratic bulls**t... so annoying when you know that they can do so much better. This company used to be sustained by the customers and it's frustrating to see them turn their backs on the people that were so fervent to keep them going in the past now that they've made a fortune off of us.

If you want to delete it on your iOS device, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap the account on the Accounts list, then tap Delete Account at the bottom.

  • How to not display email in imessage header OR delete old appleid to free up social email address for imessage

    Hi,
I have a business email and a separtate "social" email that i use for friends etc. The business email I have is signed up to Itunes/appstore for my iPad3.
So I want to display my "social" email instead to my contacts that I imessage, but NOT sign up to itunes with this email (i dont mind varifying it).
The PROBLEM is that years ago I must have signed onto itunes and now have the "social" email  address as an appleid. Now when I try to use this email for the "recieve at" setting, it does not let me. Also the PROBLEM is that you can never delete an appleid!!!!!!
I DO NOT want to have to add yet another email account for this, and I want one that my friends will recognise!
    how do I either:
    1) delete that old appleid so I can use this email for imessage?
    OR
    2) Hide my business email on the "From" imessage header?
    Thanks.

All good, I loved with AppStore and now everything seems to be back to normal.

  • My online purchase of IMac is scheduled for delivery to apple store for pickup tomorrow .  Do I need an appt . on the day of pick up to bring in my old desk top computer to transfer and set up new IMac?

My online purchase of new 21.5 IMac is scheduled for delivery to apple store for pickup tomorrow .  I have purchased Apple one to one care. Do I need to schedule an appointment with apple genius on the day of pick up to bring in my old desk top computer to transfer and set up new IMac?

    Usually I would think so.
Note, if your old Mac or any of your old applications are pre-2006, see this tip.

Otherwise the transfer may not be as smooth as you desire.

  • HT204053 I have set up a new Icloud ID  using a new email address on my I mac however my Iphone Icloud ID is still using an old email address that is no longer in use.  How do I change my ICloud ID on my Iphone to that on my  IMac computer. I only want 1

How do I change  my  Icloud ID on my Iphone to match my ICloud ID on my IMac computer? My phone has an old email address that is no longer in use.  I have a new email address that I have used as my ICloud ID ( Apple ID )  on my IMac.  I want to be able to send photos from my Imac  to my Icloud account  and see view them with my Iphone.  Can you help me ?? Thanks

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.
When you do this, you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this happens, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Migrated iTunes to laptop, songs from old AppleID not authorized

I migrated iTunes from an iMac to a new MacBook and found that some songs that were purchased under an old AppleID are not authorized to play on the new computer. (I changed my AppleID over a year ago when I switched ISP's so the old email no longer exists.) Songs that I purchased under my current ID play without any problem. But when I try to play songs that were purchased under the old ID, iTunes prompts me to authorize them. Authorization fails because the ID "cannot be found". Authorizing the songs with my current ID doesn't help either.
Is there a way to re-associate those songs with my current AppleID or authorize the new computer for the old ID like my iMac? Advice is appreciated.

My iMac 27" is 2 years old. The screen just start to sleep every 2-3 minutes and then one has to reboot it. I bought the unit from Incredible Connections in South Africa. They sent it to the South African distributors Core. They report LCD screen defect and charged me R7500-00 to replace the screen  and sent it back after 4 weeks.
It does not  go to sleep anymore; but when switch on; there appears a flickering band of lines on the screen which last for about 20 seconds before the machines starts to work normally.
It seems there is still a screen problem!
We had to send it back again.
The other problem is that you just get no communication out of the Core workshop and you cannot communicate with the technician.
They had still not provide a technical report in spite of repeated discussion with the manager of Incredible Connections.

Sounds like the graphics card might be the problem. Run the Hardware Test in extended mode. If you get an error it can be trusted, but getting a negative may not be all that meaningful.  Bring it back to them and let them check out the machine again.

Without a bootable backup/clone or a Time Machine backup of your previous Snow Leopard installation or a saved copy of Lion's install app, you'll have to upgrade your Leopard volume to Snow Leopard (10.6.6+) so you can waste another hour or more DLing the Lion thing again.

  • I changed my AppleID a long time ago to an email that I no longer use and I have updates for apps that I can't update because my old email is filled in to where i sign in and it wont let me change it to my new one???

I changed my AppleID a long time ago to an email that I no longer use and I have updates for apps that I can't update because my old email is filled in to where i sign in and it wont let me change it to my new one???

The problem with those two apps is that they are supposed to be in your Apple ID and you didn't set up the Mac properly/completely when you got it.
You might try deleteing them and using OS X Recovery to install them again.

After that, before you open any iLife apps go to your Mac App Store account, to the Purchased pane and Accept them into your account.

  • Hi! I have 2 Apple IDs but cant log in one. Says info doesnt match. Choosing to receive email, but email is not comming too. Trying to create a new id with old email-denies becuase it is existing. How can I get into old AppleID? Have few expensive apps.

Could it be so that I have deleted the old AppleID? All applications are still on the device, but I cant get them on new device. When I try to create a new id with an old email, it doesnt allow saying that the address is already occupied. It means the ID exists, but I cant get in... (I was trying to change address, just dont know if I succeed or not.)
    Thank you in advance

So For everyone that is having the issue of iCloud asking for an old email there is a very simple fix, as long as its a simple switch from one email to another on one apple ID account.
    1. Sign into appleid.apple.com with your current ID.
    2. Edit the primary email to the one requested. (You DO NOT need to verify the old email.)
    3. Sign out of iCloud on any device using the old ID.
    4. Edit the primary email (on appleid.apple.com) back to the desired email address.
    5. Verify that email address.
    6. Sign into iCloud with the correct email.
As for anyone that is unable to verify their account due to not receiving the verification email, contact apple support for further assistance.
