I am sure there is a tool in the apple software availabe, to speed up again may iMac.

A Little more info about your iMac would be nice.
There are many model iMacs.
Year, screen size, CPU speed and amount of RAM memory installed?
How full is your iMac's internal hard drive?
Do you have any antivirus software installed?
Any "crapware" like MacKeeper or any other type of hard drive "cleaning" apps?
How many applications do you run simultaneously in the background on your iMac?

Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):

from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

It appears to be a cache file, a copy of a website you visited at some point. Empty your browser cache and it should be gone. If you're using Safari https://answers.syr.edu/display/software/Clear+Cache+in+Safari+version+7+on+Mac+ OSX

IMovie gets slower and worse as my video gets longer?

I need to do a 20:00 to 35:00 minute film for a class project, and iMovie starts moving the audio out of sync and working very slowly as I extend the video. I've tried detaching the audio for the out of sync videos, but it's tedious and my iMovie is taking forever. Any help on how to restore it to the way it should be?

• When Start-Up (Mac OS) Hard Disk fills up - everything goes slowely till it stop - I never let it go under 25Gb free space
• Starting a new User Account - and do my project here - speeded up project significantly
TO GET IT TO WORK SLIGHTLY FASTER
• Minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up hard disk
• No other programs running in BackGround e.g. Energy-Saver
• Don’t let HD spin down or be turned off (in Energy-Save)
• Move hard disks that are not to be used to Trash - To be disconnected/turned off
• Goto Spotlight and set the rest of them under Integrity (not to be scanned)
• Set screen-saver to a folder without any photo - then make an active corner (up right for me) and set
pointer to this - turns on screen saver - to show that it has nothing to show and Speed increases slightly on My Mac.

XMP Standard - Is there a tool for non-professionals to handle PDF files for free?

I'd like to start organising my various files and I wonder if I could include PDF files into the process (it seems easier with graphics), possibly also some video or audio files in the future. I hope there's a tool, not onle for IT specialists to handle it and some clear video/document tutorial to assist.

flattened. CFPDF cannot flatten LiveCycle forms, only Acrobat

How do I get closed captions to play when exported, nothing is working (embedding, side files etc)

I can't seem to get my closed caption track to play when exported, since my film is in german it is completely essential, none of the side files work with quicktime or vlc and neither does embedding it

First off, media players like QuickTime and VLC do not play sidecars. I believe sidecars are used for broadcasting and possibly for writing to DVD.
As for the embedded captions, a few questions:
What is the type of the caption stream? Only CEA 608 can be embedded into QuickTime clips.
In QuickTime, have you enabled caption display?
If you import the QuickTime clip with embedded captions back into Premiere Pro, are the captions present?

Creative Cloud Enterprise: Is there a way to choose where the package temp files are downloaded?

I am an Enterprise Admin and have to use a Windows computer to download and create different Creative Cloud packages. The temp package files first download to the C:\ (system drive) and then the actual package in the location you specified; usually on another drive/partition. I have to make the C:\ partition (by re-partitioning) much larger than normal size in order to make temp package files to fit if I don't the C:\ drive fills up and the package creation just stops/fails with no messages displayed. Could an option be made to direct where you want the the temp package files to be held such as selecting a different hard drive/partition to store them?
I create both 32 and 64 bit CC packages.

I need to find a video player that doesn't leak anything to the disk when playing files. The swap is already encrypted so that is no big deal. I view confidential client videos from a truecrypt encrypted disk.

OK, that's good. A portfolio is essentially a master document with file attachments. It obviously has special functionality, but you can have similar functionality using a standard PDF as the master document and adding the other PDFs as attachments. The Attachments pane allows you to search the attached files and you can provide links to individual attachments in the master document. For example you could set up a series of buttons (with spiffy icons) that link to the attached documents so that they will open when the buttons are clicked.
So you could go through the trouble of preparing a portfolio proper as well as the type of document described above, or just the latter. As Steve mentioned, the future of portfolios is in doubt and they are not supported outside of Adobe PDF viewers, so you might want to go with this alternative exclusively.

Very slow performance in CS6 X64 compared to CS5 X64 and temp file very big

My tests with file 66.4 MB with much layer, text, group. Photoshop is already running and I use the menu "File / Open" :
IN CS5 (12.0.4) X64:
about 6.13 seconds
size of the temporary file on C:\ = 2951296 KB
Setup in photoshop:
10943 Mo memory seen
Percent of possible use memory 82% (8974 Mo)
IN CS6 X64:
about 137 seconds
size of the temporary file on C:\ = 20216832 KB
Setup in photoshop:
10991 Mo memory seen
Percent of possible use memory 82% (9012 Gb)

I did the test and that's exactly the right solution. Actually if I put "128" (which is default in CS5) instead of 1024 (which is default in CS6), charging is as fast as with CS5 and in addition the temporary file is also much less fat (the same size with CS5 !)
I note that the speed problem that I mentioned is not really a problem, but only because of a difference in configuration "default" of the two versions.
Still the problem of activation or none of "Thumbnails" which creates delays (even unable to work properly) to move layers or group. Problem mentioned (and shown in video) on the link I put in my first message !

Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple:
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Time by time Application getting slow

Dear all
My application software( Life insurance product) is developed using oracle forms 10g. Recently it has connected 10 branches. after that time by time system is getting slow. There is no database issue as well. Normally this happens when multiple branches going to do a same transation at same time.
How I can check whether this is a network issue or Application software realated issue?

How it is getting slow, Means any user it waiting for to proceed when other user are using same screen form or in the backend level you are waiting for execution
of the code to proceed further?

Ibook is getting slow....

over the last couple of years my ibook has progressively been getting slower. is there any way that i can "upgrade" it in order to make it go faster?
ps. i dont have many programs on it, and not much is saved to the harddrive, thats why i cant figure out why its slowing down. im trying to see how long i can keep this ibook alive!

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
When an iBook suffers a decline in performance, usually some system maintenance is indicated.
Try booting into Safe Mode. This will take quite awhile longer than a normal startup because it does a file check and repair of the hard disk.
You will see your normal desktop. Once completely started up in Safe Mode, restart normally, and go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. Click on the top hard drive icon in the left sidebar and note the S.M.A.R.T. status at the bottom right of the pane. What does it say?
Select the named boot volume in the left sidebar, ("Macintosh HD" unless you've renamed it). What is the hard drive capacity and how much space remains available on it? Repair permissions on it.
If you turn off your iBook at night or allow it to sleep, the routine maintenance tasks (CRON-scripts) that are supposed to run automatically can't. In this case, you should run them manually. Find out how to do it in this Apple Base Knowledge article:

If you haven't upgraded the RAM with a 512 MB module, that would be a way to speed things up, too:

When i send a PDF via e-print, it gets cropped, is there a way to prevent this from happening?

PDF's are printing fine when i print direct to the printer but when they are sent by e-mail they get cropped, is there a way to get the document to fit to page when sent as an email attachment?
The Printer in question is a HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 color M551n, the printer is brand new installed last week so i don't know if this is the norm or not.

If you're using a desktop or notebook PC to send the email you could try installing the HP ePrint Mobile Driver software on your machine, the link to the download is here. This will allow you to print the PDF to any ePrint capable printer without having to email it to the printers email address as an attachment.
Once installed and with your PDF open on your machine, select Print from the File menu, then select "ePrint" from the list of available printers (don't select the actual printer itself) and click Print in the bottom right corner of the box. A dialogue box will open showing the avaialble ePrint printers you can print to. Click on the Connected button on the left of the screen to add your printer to the list if its not listed.
