My iMac is printing duplexed documents on a wirelessly connected Epson printer extremely slowly (minutes), but prints fast from and IOS device using AirPrint. Settings don't offer any help. Can anyone advise, please?

I have a one-year old (intel) iMac, now running on Mountain Lion. I have a wireless network with an Epson Photo Stylus PX830FWD printer which has an auto-duplexer. My problem is that when I print a two-sided document, the print takes minutes rather than seconds. It prints at normal speed if I use the print facility on my iPad or iPhone (AirPrint), which suggests that the Mac settings are at fault. I have been through all the settings on System Preferences that I can find, but nothing makes any difference.
I didn't notice it prining at slow speed on Snow Leopard or Lion OSX!
Any suggestions, please?

I just figured out the print quality issue for my wife with her new iMac and new printer.
She replaced both at once and she couldn't understand why her Artisan 730 was lower quality then her Epson R280 when they had the same specs.
Turns out the newer printer had the option to connect via wifi which we used during setup.
The driver options are completely different depending on how you connect.
Once I connected via USB the correct options were available and the print quality was better.
Looking at the R2400 it dies not have wifi, but while researching the problem for my wife someone esle was having an issue updating to the latest printer driver.
If you go into the print utility from the Printer and Scanner system preference and under the general tab you should have driver 5.5.
One user had to delete the old printer driver before Software Update loaded the newer printer driver.

On my MacBook Pro (w Snow Leopard) I always had to reconnect my wifi at home when it woke up. I upgraded my router from an old Netgear to a newer N D-Link and stopped having to do that.
I would be surprised you would have that problem with an Airport Extreme, you might check to see if there is a firmware update for it.

My immediate reaction is to deny.
Have you downloaded or installed any application that may relate to the abbreviation AOS? It may not necessarily be the application's name, could be the developer or distributor.
As it's occuring at log-in, go to System Preferences > Accounts > your account > Login Items and look for a related item. If there's one there, right-click (or ctrl click) on it and select Reveal in Finder. That will show you where the originator of the item is on your system and should give you more of a clue as to what it is.
I'd remove the item from login items anyway (highlight and click the minus sign at the bottom of the window). There shouldn't be anything trying to use your keychain info to notify anyone.

It's possible that the DRM (digital rights management) disallows you to port those movies onto a TV. What app are you using? Some apps are 'ipad only' and will not push out to another screen.

Well if you have 3 gigs of music that is taking up half right there. Pictures and videos also take up a lot of space as well. Another thing is texts are saved on the phone. Try deleting them but texts don't nomally take up a lot of space.

It sounds like you are experiencing multiple issues with this iPod Nano 5th Gen. From what you are describing it seems we can isolate this to either the software or the hardware on the device with a couple of simple steps assuming you have tried another set of headphones. If you pulled out an existing router.. then you have a modem.. what modem is that? Explicit details help loads.. and loads.. and even more loads.. we cannot guess solutions without knowing the setup.
But you can simply configure the TC in bridge mode.. do it directly connected to the TC with ethernet wire.. LAN TC to computer and configure it in bridge.
Then setup wireless any way you want..
You can turn it off and still use the wireless on the old router.
You can setup a new wireless network.. and connect to that.
Or you can setup roaming network, ie use the same wireless name and same security settings and password as the existing router.. assuming it also has wireless.
Do nothing at all and it will still work..

My US ATV in the UK isn't working properly. Can anyone advise please?

My friend bought me an ATV from the US, but I can't seem to get it to work properly.
It's plugged into a US-UK adaptor, powers up fine, got past the point where I connect to my network. It's just when I get to the main menu screen, it freezes up - staying stuck on the Movies > Top Movies tab.
I try and reset through the remote - no luck. Tried cutting the power and try again - no luck. Tried connecting to my MacBook to restore it through micro USB - won't even recognise the device!
I'm losing the will to live with this - just want the thing working!
Is there something I could be doing wrong, or something else I should test?

If you've not done so remove all other USB connections from the Macbook - if there isn't enough power (usually with non-powered USB hub connection) it may not be detected or restore.
I think it should have an international warranty - do you have a nearby Apple store where they could have a look at your gift?
It's possible you have a faulty AppleTV but firmware issue could also be to blame - was it unopened and unused?
I understand your frustration, though it may just be a bad one.
Also try just connecting power and HDMI if you had ethernet or anything else connected.

They don't come with restrictions enabled, you have to turn them on and set the passcode.
When you do try to enter the restrictions area you are prompted to enter a passcode, but that means you're making it.
I'd take it back to where you bought it from and have them unlock it.

I exported the clip to check and its absolutely fine, I dont get this corrupt look on the screen, I closed this project - opened an existing one and same again! Ive cleaned the media cache, ive exported to check and the file appears fine, ive quit premiere pro and reopened it and still there.... weirdly the corruption is flashing on and off even though i am not playing the video.

yes google chrome is my set as my browser and I did as you instructed which was clicking off the hardware acceleration
I would disable all hardware acceleration, using software as the renderer and see if all the glitches go away.
What other hardware accelerations (if any other than chrome would you advise)
If the glitches only show up when either CUDA or OpenCL are chosen as the renderer, and you have the Premiere app open or in the background, then it's probably this driver issue.
at the moment I have left the OpenCL as the renderer and have not changed it to software or CUDA... yet... ive turned off chrome hardware acceleration ... do you think I should see how that goes if i encounter problems again then change the renderer?
Funny you mentioned premiere pro in the background as I was on my internet browser (chrome) and looking on emails - yahoo - you know in email you can have a banner AD on the side of your mail...that had the same issue of the graphics inside that banner box with glitches.

You can't drag a transition into the canvas. If you're dragginmg a transition from the effects tab you drag it between the edit point of two clips in the timeline.
Make sure show edit overlays is turned on in the Canvas view popup.

I would think the migration assistant transfers 100% of all contents...
When you are setting up a new Mac you can use Setup assistant the moment you boot the mac the first time. Setup Assistant will usually transfer everything. If you miss tha t moment and later launch Migration Assistant some library files will not be transferred. Migration assistant will not transfer system files, only User Files and Application files. I think, that is why your files are missing.

Best take an external drive with plenty of free disk space and plug it into your MacBook Pro.
Open the System drive, your Macintosh HD in the Finder and open the folder "Library", then "Application Support", then "GarageBand". Copy the folder
/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/ to your external drive by dragging it there.
Then open again the folder "Library" on your Macintosh HD, and this time open the folder "Audio" inside. Copy the folder
/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/
to your externall drive. Eject the drive and plug it into your iMac.
Now compare the AppleLoops folders and instrument library folders and copy all missing items over to the corresponding folders in the iMac's Library.
Afterwards you need to reindex the loops, by dragging any loop you newly installed onto the Loop Browser in garageband, see: Rebuilding the Loop Index in GarageBand
