My imac & Mac Book can't FaceTime

I have an iMac & Mac Book Pro, both using the same Apple ID & email address. Face Time is not working between them, what do I need to do?

Hi shapo,
To FaceTime a contact on your iMac or MacBook Pro, you'll need to FaceTime an Apple ID that is separate from your own.
iOS: Using FaceTime
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4319
When calling someone using an iPad 2 or later, iPad mini, iPod touch (4th generation) or later, or FaceTime for Mac: Use the email address designated for FaceTime of the person you are calling.
On iPad, iPod touch, and FaceTime for Mac, you need to add a person as a contact using the FaceTime or Contacts app before you can call them.
To summarize, a separate Apple ID will need to be used on each device.
Cheers!

Normally Microsft allows the installation of their programs, except Operating Systems, to be installed on a desktop and notebook at the same time as long as both system are used exclusively by the same person and Not at the same time.
So this should also be true for MS Office for Mac. The only way to tell is to install it on the Mini and then use the same key to activate it. If the activation goes through you are fine. But if you run both system at the same time do not open any of the Office programs on both system at the same time. That may trigger MS to disallow one of the activations.
MS Office for both Mac and Windows checks the local network and logs into the MS activation site everytime one of the apps is started to check current activation and to check if you have it running on more then one computer on your local network using the same key.

We're just users like yourself, so we can't answer your question.  It's just how Apple designed the calendar on iPad.  There are calendar apps with more flexibility in the App Store.  You might want to explore those options.

  • HT1178 How do I set up time capsule to back up my data in Imac, Mac Book Pro, Ipad 3 and Iphone 4

I just got my New Time Capsule. I have managed to access wifi but would like to know the process for activating my capsule to update my data on my Imac, Mac Book Pro, Ipad 3 and Iphone 4?

Turn on Time Machine in Imac and MBP..
iPad and iPhone have no direct connection to TC.. they backup to iTunes.. which the computer will backup via TM.

Yes.  Log into MacAppStore with the AppleID that purchased them.

  • I lost my mac book, can the cloud find it if someone is deleting the partition.

i lost my mac book, can the cloud find it if someone is deleting the partition.?????

If you were logged in to icloud on the computer and it is on / connected to wifi / not erased, you will be able to go to iCloud.com (universal) and find a location. If the mac book had a deleted partition which held your icloud info you will not.

The Buy link on the Apple website goes to the App Store. You're going to have to explain more.

  • Imac ------- Mac book connection

    Hi,
I recently bought a Mac Book Pro. I love it and was amazed that when i open a new 'Finder Window', my iMac was showing under the Devices Heading! With options to reconnect or disconnect!
I found it really handy as i was able to directly access the iMac desktop, and any folders that are on there. From any other room in the house..
Ive used the 'screen sharing' app/sotware with my ipad in the past, but this connected much more directly!
Now the Imac no longer shows under devices..
Can anyone tell me what i may or may have not done or pressed to cause the connection to be lost?
Its really frustrating! I hope i get some answers..
Look forward to hearing from you all...

    Thanks for your reply..
    Will give it a go.

Yes you can delete them. Removing them from the iPad has no effect at all on the Mac.

  • I am new to Macs or Mac books can anyone help with

i have bought a Mac book, its not new but its been fully refurbished
But as I am completely new to the operating system, can anyone help with book marks, downloading pictures from a camera, using MS word
I am hoping to use this mac book on my travels, so any help/advice would really be appreciated
I got this Mac book as they seem to get online a lot better than any Windows laptop and I don't keep getting updates
I just need help with saving word documents, saving book marks, passwords, accessing emails (I have a Hotmail account) and downloading photos from a card reader or camera
    I have
    Apple
    Mac Book
    MacBook4,1
    A1181

Just to directly answer a few questions...
...if you use Safari, Apple's built-in browser, you can create a bookmark by holding down the command and D keys at the same time. I don't use Safari that much - I prefer Firefox mainly for the fact that there's a plug-in or extension for most anything you can imagine.
There are two ways to transfer photos from your camera to your Mac - you can either use a USB cord (if your camera came with one) and plug it into a USB port and transfer photos or you can use the SD card socket on the left hand side of your MacBook Pro and take the SD card out of your camera and transfer your photos to your Mac.
You have to purchase, if you haven't already, Microsoft's Office for Mac to work with Word. Office 2010 on Windows and Office 2011 for Macs are very similar so if you're familiar with the Windows side you'll have no problems.
    Best of luck,
    Clinton

  • I have a Mac Book, Can I increase the RAM to 3GB if 2GB is recommended?

I have a Macbook with the following:
    Hardware Overview:
      Model Name:          MacBook
      Model Identifier:          MacBook2,1
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:          2.16 GHz
      Number Of Processors:          1
      Total Number Of Cores:          2
      L2 Cache:          4 MB
      Memory:          1 GB
      Bus Speed:          667 MHz
      Boot ROM Version:          MB21.00A5.B07
      SMC Version (system):          1.17f0
An individual on this forum has a similar Mac Book with the following:
    2.16GHz Black MacBook
    3gbRAM with
    Windows XP on a
    32gb Boot Camp partition,
    Mac OS X (10.6.7),
    Mid 2007(2,1),
which information I copy and pasted from this forum reply.  Does anyone see any issues with obtaining more than the 2GB I believe is what is recommended?
    Any input would be appreciated.

    Yes, it will work.

I put 4 GB in my white 2.16 GB MacBook, and the System Profiler recognizes the full 4 GB (although whether it actually utilizes it, I can't say).
This is the kit I used in mine:

OWC says there is actually a benefit to adding the full 4 GB.
Note: Although limited to physically utilizing a maximum of 3GB, there is a performance benefit due to 128 Bit addressing when 4GB( 2GB x 2 Matched set) is installed.

  • Cloud not synching between phone/imac/mac book pro, calendar and addresses not synching.

addresses and calendar not synching between 3 devices.. phone, iMac and mac book pro.
dates are correct, iCloud is on for those applications. etc.

Your profile shows that you are running OS X 10.6.7.  If that's true, you will need to update a iCloud requires OS X 10.7.5 or later.  If you are running a more recent version of OS X and your data still isn't syncing, check to be sure of the following:
That your Mac and iOS devices are signed into the same iCloud account and have Calendars and Contacts turned on in Settings (System Preferences)>iCloud.
That you have selected iCloud as your Default Account for contacts in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars on your iOS devices and in Contacts (Address Book)>Preferences>General on your Macs.
That you have selected an iCloud calendar as your Default Calendar in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars on your iOS devices and in Calendar (iCal)>Preferences>General on your Macs.

  • Why I can't restore my iphone 5 version 7.0.4 with my computer use itune 11.1.5 on window 7 ? Is it only OS X (Mac Book) can restore it ?

Why I can't restore my iphone with my window using itune 11.1.5. Is it any wrong with computer using window ? And why my friend can restore his iphone using Mac Book ( OS X ) I don't understand. Is it only OS X can restore the iphone ?

It seems I have solved my own problem . . . well hopefully !!   ;-)
I was using a 'non' Apple cable. When I swithced to using the stock cable that came with my iPhone, iTunes can now see that I have a 'Device' and identifies it correctly as my iPhone.
    Hopefully this may help others . . . ?
    Cheers,
    Grant.

  • If I upload my photos to my mac book, can I then delete them on my phone.  My concern is that I will lose the photos on my computer if I plug my phone back in.

I want to upload my photos to my mac book to delete them on my phone to create more space.  I am concerned that if I then re sync my phone after I deleted to photos, they will erase from my computer...is this true?

No.  ONce it is save to your MAC it won't delete until you delete it off your Mac.
