Well make sure you add manually the account and don't let Mail set it up automatically. I actually found instructions from AOL itself for Mail IMAP setup.

  • My ipad mail is synced to my iMac mail account. On iPad, I can only see my inbox and sent messages. I can't see any of the folders I have created on my iMac. How do I do that? Probably a dumb question, but I know there's a lot of smart people out there!

My iPad mail is synced to my private email account, which I organise on my iMac. On iPad, I can only see inbox and sent messages folders, not any of the other folders in my email account I have created on my iMac. How do I get iPad to show my other folders? Probably a dumb question, but I know there's a lot of smart people out there.

If you select a mailbox, you should get an Edit button (easier to see in landscape mode). Clicking the button will provide you with check circles for the messages. You also get Delete and Move buttons at the bottom. Check the messages you want to move and then navigate to the mailbox you want to drop them into. I think as long as you can navigate to a mailbox you can move the messages to it.
In the Mac Mail application and probably Outlook on the Windows side, you also setup rules to move messages to specific mailboxes. If the mailboxes are stored on the server, then you can have the sorting done on the server and they should appear that way on the iPad. If your later messages do not show up, you may need to have the iPad app pulled down more messages until they are all showing.

  • I-mac mail account

i have tried to send e mail from my imac mail account(which is already there in the computer).but it is delivered.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
*"i have tried to send e mail from my imac mail account(which is already there in the computer).but it is delivered."*
Open your Mac Mail application. Under Mailboxes on the left click: Sent
All of your Sent mail will be stored there until you delete it.
Go to Mail/Preferences (Command + comma) to setup your Mac Mail application.
You can do a test e-mail. Start a new message. Then where you see To: type in your own e-mail address. In the Subject line type: Test and click Send.

  • Trying to move my Mail account to my wifes old iPad 2

The good folks at my Apple Store today made sure that they transferred all her apps and files to the new iPad Mini i bought her. I'm now trying to set up myMacBookPro  Mail accounts on her old iPad 2 but without success. I started trying with my iMac mail account and received a message that the account name is already in use. I've two other Gmail accounts to transfer over as well.
My plan has been to just use the iPad2 for my net use and my MBP for my photo work. If anyone has any ideas on how to do this I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks!
    Dennis

Export makes a mailbox package whihc I thinkis what's need to properly restore on import.
See below for location of export.
For restoring from Time machine here's is the help text for doing so. (I've only done this on individual messages)
I also think if you copy everything in ~/Library/Mail you may be all-right.

  • How can I set up my spouse's e-mail account separate from mine on our shared iMac

My wife and I like to keep our e-mail accounts separate, so we don't have to sort through all of it.  We also like to keep our apple accounts seperarte, although we do share an iCloud account for sinking contacts and calanders.
We are new to apple PC's and even had to call find out where to turn our new iMac on.  What is the best way to set this up?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can create a new user for one of you. It's easy to create an user > http://support.apple.com/kb/ph4600
After creating the account, the computer will ask you the user you want to log in every time you start your Mac, so just choose the one you need. After creating the user account, access to this user account and configurate it. Go to System Preferences > iCloud to use iCloud, and open Mail and select File menu (on the menu bar) > Add Account, to add a mail account

    Hi Nuch1,
I found an article that is contains very thorough Mail troubleshooting steps:
OS X Mail: Troubleshooting sending and receiving email messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3276
You can use that article to figure out what part of the email "ecosystem" is the cause of the issue, and it can also help you attempt to resolve it.
    Hope that helps,

Is it possible to get my email folders from my iMac mail tool up to my icloud account?

Your iCloud cannot access other accounts. You can set up the Mail app on your iPad to access other accounts just the same as on your Mac - the only issue might be with the ISP who provides your internet connection, as some services require you to be actually connected to them to send, and possibly even to receive though that would be more unusal.
If any of your other accounts provide webmail you could use that.
Otherwise you could set up forwarding on the other accounts so that messages are sent on to your iCloud account (I should set it to leave a copy on the original server) - however you cannot send using anything other than your iCloud email address as the 'From' address using iCloud outgoing server.
As to existing messages, if the account is IMAP then the messages can be accessed from any device that signs into the account; if the account is POP then received messages live on your Mac. You can copy them up to iCloud in the Mail application on your Mac by creating a new folder or folders on iCloud and then dragging the messages to these folders - hold the option key down to retain the messages on your Mac and duplicate them to iCloud. Move messages, not folders, and don't try to move a huge amount at a time. Remember that they will take up space on your iCloud account.

  • I have set up my Yahoo! account to be used as default mail account on iMac. I am receiving messages, but cannot send them.  All settings appear to be right.  What can I do?

I have set up my Yahoo! account to be used as default mail account on iMac. I am receiving messages, but cannot send them.  All settings appear to be right.  What can I do?

The problems I am having are when I use Yahoo! with the iMac mail application.  Yahoo works fine on the browser.
The outgoing settings I am using are:
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): yahoo.co.uk (Offline)
    Description: yahoo.co.uk
    Server name: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    Use default ports (25, 465, 587)
    Use SSL
    Authentication: Password
    User Name:  ********@yahoo.co.uk
    Password: *************
    Of note:
I cannot stop it from saying Offline after the outgoing mail server.
I have used the same settings on my ipad and iphone and that works fine.
Really grateful if you can help.
    Thanks

  • I have a old imac OSX.4.11.  Lately my .mac mail account quit working and rejecting my password, even a reset password

I have an old imac with the swivel flat screen-OSX4.11.  My .mac mail account has quit working--it rejects my password--even a reset password.  Connection Dr. says to "make sure username and password are correct", over and over.  Help!

    Hello,
Did you change it over to iCloud yet? It does work in 10.4.11
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, or a server end problem.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
    Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac/.me mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
        •    Server name: imap.mail.me.com
        •    SSL Required: Yes
        •    Port: 993
        •    Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
        •    Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
        •    Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
        •    SSL Required: Yes
        •    Port: 587
        •    SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
        •    Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
        •    Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.

  • How can I upload existing Apple Mail mailboxes to IMAC .mac account?

Hi... I use Tiger Apple mail on a POP account elsewhere and want to move to .mac IMAC so I can synchronize mail and maiboxes across computers. I have created my mail account on .mac and that is working fine. But I have a large number of mailboxes sitting in Apple mail on my computer. How can I upload those to the .mac account? I had anticipated tha synchronization would take care of it, but it hasn't.
    Any advice apperciated
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I have found the answer - in bottom of my mailbox list was a new entry representing the IMAP folders. I need to drag my old folders onto this and it synchronised - except that some ex-Eudora messages which had been edited in Eudora (oh hat we could do that in Mail) had not converted properly.
