My iMac needs to be rebooted every time I put it to sleep
My iMac needs to be rebooted almost every time when I wake it from sleeping. Is this normal? Ether the screen darkens and it will tell me to reboot by holding down the power button or the screen is just totally blank. It's been doing it for a long time and I thought it was just mac security updates running in the backgrownd or something but it seems to be getting worse.
Thanks
Do this:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.

My macbook pro is making strange fan related noises. Sounds as if something is stuck in the fan. First time this has happened since I got my computer. Every time I put it to sleep I wouldn't hear the sound anymore. Any suggestions?

Probably is. They get dusty. Shut down your computer and clean it out with a vacuum (don't blow dust back inside). -
Macbook restarts every time I put it to sleep
Hey
For some reason my Macbook suddenly decided to start restarting when I put it to sleep. This happens both when I close the lid and when I set it to sleep through the menu, and it has (so far) happened every time until I booted into Safe Mode (as recommended in http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5216881 ), where it slept like it should.
I suspect something fishy going on in the Energy Saver department, but I'm very much unsure. Any help will be appreciated =)Have you tried resetting the SMC? Power management is one of the features it controls and if there is a problem there it might explain the odd behavior...

Kernel Panic every time I put MB to sleep...
Hello all,
I have a consistent kernel panic upon putting my computer to sleep. It doesn't matter if I do it through the Apple menu or by closing the machine. It's consistently telling me that it's the "kernel_task" is related to the panic.
This is what I've tried:
1. Uninstalled (manually) all the software I had recently installed (Concentrate, Evernote, growl. Removed logs and other traces they can leave, which is no small task to figure out in the case of Evernote!).
3. Repaired disk permissions
4. Reset SMC
5. Deleted and reset the Energy Management preferences
My next thought was reinstalling SL but thought I'd see if you guys had any thoughts first.

So, it appears that your problem began relatively recently. I know that Growl has been a problem for others. Given that your problem began relatively recently, then reinstalling by erase and install could be a good alternative. Be sure you are well backed up. And, I would not be inclined to migrate my apps. -
Can't Launch "Memo" Application ... Soft Reboots Every Time I Try
Help. All of a sudden, my device no longer allows me to launch the Memo application. When I tap to launch the app my device soft reboots every time. I have a ton of critical information in my memos that I need to access every day (fortunately, all the info is backed up on my desktop - it syncs to MS Outlook). Anybody know how I can fix this? I've seen this behavior with other applications on my TX, but this is the first time I have seen it on one of the core applications. Thanks for any help.
Post relates to: Palm TXSounds like a corrupted Memo application that could be causing the reboot.
Go to www.pimlicosoftware.com and download a trial of dbfixit scan your device and see if it finds any errors. -
I'm using a late 2006 2.33GHz imac.
I clean installed 10.6 from disc then updated to 10.7 from download.
Now every time my computer goes into sleep it won't wake up.
The only way it will restart is to pull the mains lead out of the imac, put it back and try until it will start.
This only happened after reinstalling. Only Apple OS was on the imac and so it must be an issue with the software I believe.....
Anyone know how to cure this problem please?
Thanks
paulThis isn't a fix, more a workaround I used when I had wake from sleep problems that lasted from some point in 10.6.x, through 10.7 and into 10.8 (got fixed for me in 10.8.2). It seems to be connected with Bluetooth failing to wake up properly:
System Preferences>Energy Saver and set 'computer sleep' to 'never'. -
I have an iMac OS 10.9.5 - Every time I turn on my system I get the message that it can not access icloud and to fix it using iCloud preferences. I do not want to access or use iCloud, how do I get the message to discontinue?
Hello mrmacjohn,
Verifying that any iCloud account that may be signed in is signed out should resolve this error.
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.

Is there something else I need to tweak to get rid of this annoyance instead of simply clicking the check box? I'm losing tabs from previous sessions that I need to keep open every time I need to restart. Thanks for any advice!

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

why does my iPhone 5s shut down unpredictably and needs to be reset every time to start back up?
Hi Cyprus11,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is shutting down unexpectedly, I recommend going through these troubleshooting steps:
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Best,

White keyboard needs to toggle power every time computer is started
I need to toggle power every time computer is started. OSX doesn't 'see' the keyboard when restarting or starting.
ALSO
When running XP in bootcamp, I can get XP to 'see' the keyboard, but I can't get it to work at all.
Please help.Hello tak:
I am assuming your Bluetooth module is built-in.
There is no software setting to address what you describe. The KB may have a problem. However...
Instead of switching the device on and off, try tapping a key or two.
Try installing new batteries and/or removing and reinstalling them.
I do not run Windows (and never plan to do so) so I have no feedback on the XP issue.

Why my mawerick reboots every time when I try to mount afp drive over VPN ipsec?
After Mawericks update there has been a bug that prevents using afp file sharing with ipsec VPN. Mawerick will reboot every time when I try to choose folder to view. VPN connection and user authentication works fine until I have to choose which folder to mount. Any other VPN action like common web browsing doesn't cause any problems. It's only afp.
When I view logs I will find this one. It indicates that there really is some low level problem in drivers.
Question is: How I can fix this?

Is there a fix yet for the no sound problem with lion on the iMac without having to restart every time I switch the computer on?
Try booting in Safe Mode by holding the the shift key immediately after powering on your system. Safe boot mode will for a directory check of your startup volume, then load only the required kernal extensions (kext files), and deletes some cache files. Once the system boots into Safe Mode you can simply restart the system to see whether the issue has been resolved.
If you still have the issue try resetting the SMC by shutting down the system and disconnecting the power cord for ~15 seconds, then reconnecting the power cord. Next, reset the parameter RAM (PRAM) by holding down the option-option-P-R keys after powering ON the system. Wait until the iMac restarts twice, then let the system boot normally. -
Hello! I recently updated my iMac to OS Mavericks, and every time I try open the program Cubase the computer just restarts. Have anybody had the same problem or a similar problem and that can try to help me?/Erik
Linc Davis,
I have the same problem, and will post my panic report contents below... Any help is certainly appreciated.
