My iMac no longer will recognize devices thru itunes on either wifi sync or usb cable

My imac no longer will recognize devices when I open itunes. I have tried every version of restarting computer, ipad etc. all versions are up to date. I cannot transfer events from iphoto to my ipad. drives me nuts. I used to do this just time. I have had macs for years and am not a dummie?

Navigate to Settings > Computers > Your Library on the Apple TV, you may be told you will lose all synced content, but you can sync it back afterwards, you won't lose any purchased content that has yet to be transferred. Then select Settings > Computers > Connect To iTunes, note the passcode that appears on screen, click on the device in iTunes and enter the passcode when prompted.

Computer will recognize my iphone but not my wifes

My wife and I both have Iphone 4's that have been set up on the same computer. Recently the computer will recognize my phone but not my wifes. When I plug her's in, I get a double chime and that is it. Plug mine in, get a single Chime, and Itunes opens and syncs. I have removed Itunes and the supporting programs, including Bonjour, and reinstalled. It did not work. Also I took her phone to the Apple store, it recoginzed on their computer there and they installed IOS 5 for us. Got home and still nothing.
Any help would be great.

Hello: Thanks to all who replied or read my concern. I was able to solve the issue on my own. What I forgot to mention in the original post was that both my wife and I were attempting to use the Free App " Find My iPhone" from the App Store to set up Find My iPhone which I'm not certain if that was the source of the headache.
At any rate, I simply deleted the app from both iPhones and set up them up in iCloud using the same AppleID account and password which is what it said all along-but I was not getting it. After doing so, both my iPhone and my wife's iPhone are listed in My Devices.

I run both Mac and a PC and have iTunes on both, which has previously recognised my iPhone. I had updated my Mac with the new iTunes software with iCloud and updated my iPad2 just yesterday. I then wanted to do the same with my iPhone today, but my Mac wouldn't recognise the device so I tried it on my PC, which recognised the phone but told me I needed to update my iTunes and this in turn wanted to update my iPhone software. After completing all this and restarting, my iPhone now shows the iTunes icon with the USB plug pointing towards it, obviously wanting me to plug it in to my computer to re-connect with iTunes, but now neither of my computers recognise my iPhone and my PC states an 'Unknown Device'. My Mac doesn't even see it. Can anyone help as I really need to get my phone working?? Thanks

The first two generations of iPod (that used a standard 6-pin Firewire cable) don't work with Windows. There was a workaound through MusicMatch for the second-gen, but I have no idea if that software is still available, or even if it will install on a modern copmputer (Windows ME, 2000 and XP era).
If instead of original, you mean the first model that got labelled as "classic," with a dock connector, if you describe exactly what appears on both the iPod and the PC screen when you plug it in, somebody might be able to help you. My first recommendations would be to (1)try a different USB cable, to see if that's the problem, and then (2) try synching with a different computer, to see if your PC is the problem. If neither of those result in success, then the community here can help you to try troubleshooting the iPod itself.

New iMac keyboard won't recognize devices

My new iMac won't recognize my iPod when I plug it into the keyboard. I have to plug it into the display . This is tough because of it's location. Anyway to make the keyboard recognize?
Also, neither keyboard nor display will recognize my JVC camcorder of about 1 year old.

I jusy upgraded my iPhone 4 with the new IOS7 update. Now when I hook my phone up to my Apple Mac using the USB port, Itunes no longer opens my device. SO I can't move songs on and off the phone. Since downloading IOS 7.0.4 my iPhone will no longer sync using USB cable because of "Error -50"?????

Why, after installing IOS 7.0.4 will my iPhone only sync with my MacBook Pro using wi-fi and NOT when using the USB cable? An error message appears citing "Error -50" for which I can find no recent fix online as all the problems are related to some years ago?

Thanks, Lawrence. I figured that was what I was going to have to do in the end. I have a few games with quite a few hours invested, and I worry that I'll lose the progress I have as they do not save to the cloud. I may have to bite the bullet, and just take the plunge to resolve this. I just want a way to easily transfer my "Home Computer" for my iPhone. My laptop is years old and in need of being replaced, and it's about time to upgrade my phone. These life events piling up are making me consider switching to a friendlier OS. I'm not using this as a threat. I just hope some apple high up will read this, and realize that we need alternatives. Life happens.
Thank you both Paul and Lawrence. I clicked "This helped me" not knowing it would remove the option to choose "This fixed my problem" too. For anyone else reading this thread. Using the guide provided has done both. It has helped me and given me a fix to my current problem. Lawrence has also provided me with the last bit of information I feel is missing from wjosten's guide. That syncing will completely erase all of your data and reinstall it in one fell swoop. It's a great fix. Even if it isn't the exact one I wanted. Thank you again!

TS3694 itunes no longer will recognize any of my devices

After last itunes update, my itunes (11.1.4) will no longer recognize my iphone 5s, my sisters iphone 5 or even my ipad.
My iphone will always ask if i 'trust this computer' every time i plug it in.
I am able to go into the iphone memory and manually save my pictures.
It will also allow me to save to the cloud when I plug in and connect to my
wifi but it does not allow me to sync my music or save a back up to my computer.
Anyone dealing with this or know how to resolve it?

No, you have to have the iPhone physically present to turn it on and turn on any app functions, that cannot be done remotely.

Tiger no longer will recognize my external 300gb FW HD

I have a WD 300gb FW HD that I brought over from my XP and placed it in a dual box with another WD HD (of a smaller size.) Both were orignally formatted as NTFS and were not formatted when I brought them over. For the past 3 months, these two drives have been humming along with my G5 flawlessly. A few days ago, I noticed that these volumes were no longer mounted on the desk top. Shut down and restarted and the drives came back, sort of. For some reason, Tiger can see both drives, but it will only recognize the file system and set up of the second drive, but not the first. It seems that the Master Boot Record for the first drive (the 300gb drive) is gone/corrupted. I tried verifying/repairing it in Disk Utility, but without a MBR, it can't do anything. Any help/suggestions? I can't lose this data right now. If I could get it back up and running, I could back it up (to the backup solution I finally have in place) and then reformat it as a Mac drive.

In the Disk Utility, It sort of shows up. It recognizes that there is a drive there, but doesn't recognize the type. I am having difficulty explaining it, so see this screen grab:

I thought of that, but if that is the case, then how is my Mac able to see the other drive? I will try swapping the two drives, but I doubt that will help. But it never hurts to try.

What about the files I put on there from my Mac? I have done file recovery on other items (my phones SD card, for example) on a PC that had both Windows and Mac files on it, and had no problems. I am just worried about larger drives and larger files.

AppleTV no longer a recognized device in iTunes

Sometime in this past week, iTunes stopped recognizing my AppleTV in the list of the devices (well after I installed the latest versions of both iTunes and AppleTV software). I have tried everything in the Troubleshooting page and the only net result is that now the content that was on my AppleTV is no longer there, so I can only use it to watch movie trailers and YouTube videos. I haven't tried renting anything by way of the AppleTV and am not interested at this point in trying to do it.
Any thoughts?

I have the same issues. I have tried just about every suggestion in the discussions.
Configuration is:
Mac Mini with latest itunes update - hard IP address
1.5TB Raid 0,1 drive for media connected via USB
Connected to Airport Extreme via Ethernet
Apple TV with latest update via Ethernet - hard IP address
Problems I'm having specifically are:
Apple TV disappears from Itunes device list sporadically
or the error "Video could not be played. Format not supported" I get this error even when the apple tv is showing in the device list.
I've rebooted everything, restarted everything, and still every day I get these issues. Another discussion said they downgraded their version of iTunes. I don't want to do that if I can help it.
Any thoughts?

How long does restore take thru iTunes?

Has anybody done a restore and how long did it take ?. I am restoring my iPhone due to constant Safari crashes and was curious as mine has been in the restore mode for almost half hour. I have the Apple logo on the screen and the little spinning segment wheel is still going. Any advice would be appreciated.
