My iMac osx 10.4.11 no longer recognizes my iphone

I've been using my iMac for my iPhone 3GS for 2 years, suddenly it no longer recognizes my iPhone when I try to update it. I'd appreciate any assistance.

  • I recently upgraded iTunes to 11.1.4.62 and then itunes would no longer recognize my iphone 4s and iPod

I recently upgraded iTunes to 11.1.4.62 and then itunes would no longer recognize my iphone 4s and iPod although I can see the iphone but NOT the iPod on the computer (windows 8.1 Pro).  I checked everything , cable, services, stop and start and automatice, etc.and went through all the steps on the apple support site, to include removing all apple software in the designated order and reinstalling it.  iTunes still doesn't see the iphone.
The Apple iPhone shows up only under protable Devices in the Device Manager window and has a Yellow ! warning triangle, and there is no Apple USB controller in the devices menu.under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. When I look under the properties of the Apple iphone, it says in Device Status, to reinstall the drivers for this device (Code 18).
When I do this,  I get the following: "Windows found driver softweare for you device but encountered an error when attempting to install it" Apple Mobile Device Driver One of the installers for th this device cannot perform the installation at this time. I tried both suggested locations on the C: drive.
Also I can't seem to find out how to install the Apple USB Contoller or is that related to the problem above?
The iphone and my ipod work fine with this version of itunes on Windows 7 on my laptop.  is it possible that I am missing a critical update from Microsoft on the driver and USB controller?  I have been leery of installing them since my computer had problems with some updates in January.
I 've tried every thing listed in this forum, I think, and the Apple support page on this subject.  Please help!

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

  • ITunes no longer recognizes my iPhone 4

I have had 3 iOS devices connecting to iTunes on Windows for more than 4 months.  For some reason iTunes no longer recognizes my iPhone 4.  My iPad and iPhone 4S still work as they should.  Windows sees the iPhone 4, but it never shows up in iTunes.  I followed the advice for getting services restarted in Windows, but since it's only one device that's an issue I'm thinking there may be an issue in the iPhone 4.  Ideas?

try this, it worked for me...

  • ITunes no longer recognizes attached iPhone or iPad

I currently run OS X 10.9.5 with iTunes 12.0.1.26 on an early 2009 iMac. With the latest update of iTunes, which I think *****, it no longer recognizes either my iPhone 5 or my iPad Mini (Retina) when plugged into the Mac. It was working, and now it isn't. It won't even sync via WiFi at this point.

It seems to work again after a clean shutdown and reboot. Should not happen.

  • PC and iTunes no longer recognize my iPhone 4?

Hoping someone can help as I'm completely at a loss and super frustrated.
My PC & iTunes no longer "see" my iPhone 4 when I connect it to my computer. I've tried all my USB ports- they all charge my phone, but it does not show up in device manager, etc. I have also tried updating iTunes, reinstalling iTunes, restarting my iPhone, completely charging iPhone before plugging in, restarting my computer a billion times, and making sure it is not conflicting with any security software. I've also gone into MSconfig and followed these directions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1275. Nothing has worked.
I am running Windows XP Media 2002 SP2. I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 6.1.3. I connected my phone to my computer back in January before updating to 6.1.3 and computer recognized phone just fine. Have not tried to plug in since, but now I really would like to pull the pictures off my phone and start fresh.. But can't.
    Help?

Have you tried connecting the phone to another computer? You can try to connect to another computer that has iTunes connected. Make sure that computer does not have iTunes set to automatically sync. After that, you should be able to import your pictures from the Camera Roll via the Scanner and Camera Wizard for older versions of Windows, or via the Import manager in the newer versions of Windows.
Have you checked to make sure your Windows is up to date? Is SP2 the latest update for that version of XP? While you say that you did connect to the computer some time in the past, the tech specs for the iPhone 4 show that Windows XP needs to be SP3.

  • My itunes no longer recognizes my iphone

I have a 3G iphone - and have had no trouble synching with my computer until yesterday.  Itunes no longer lists my iphne in the left hand column, even though my computer(Windonws) recognizes the device.  Any suggestions or help? It woudl be appreciated!

Thanks Jason, I will give it another shot and let you know how it turns out. This is the most helpful reply I have seen so far, nothing has even mentioned the AppleMobileDevice extension/receipts. Even iSync will not recognize the iPhone either. I suspect it has to be something in iTunes that is wiggy. Just noticed some weird sync issues with my AppleTV in the past few days.

  • MB Pro Retina mid-2012 with OSX 10.9.5 no longer recognizes 2nd monitor

After the OSX 10.9.5 update, my MB Pro Retina mid-2012 started to crash whenever I had it connected to an external monitor via a VGA to Thunderbolt adapter. The crash Kernel report follows below.
After a couple of days my laptop stopped crashing, but now it won't detect any external monitor - none show up in the System Preferences/Displays. Tried a couple of different monitors ((VGA is the only available input for those). Running Diagnostics does not show any problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

iDVD 7 should work fine with 10.7.5.  Try this basic troubleshooting fix:
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
    User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete IDVD'S cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
    User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD folder.
3 - launch IDVD and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

This solved my questionRe: ios update problem - 7.1 11D167 iphoto not picking up new photos
Mar 20, 2014 7:15 AM (in response to JdinPa)
I figured out the fix for the Mac users having this problem. I connected my iPhone to my iMac and started iTunes. A dialogue came up in iTunes, I OK'd that and then OK'd the usual "Do you trust this Mac" that comes up on my iPhone.
Suddenly Image Capture launched itself and there were all my photos, ready to be downloaded.
As a workaround see if Image Capture can see and download your photos to a folder on the Desktop.  They can be imported from there into iPhoto.

  • ITunes no longer recognizes my iPhone

Just upgraded to a 5s from an iPhone 5. Used my previous backups from the 5 to configure the 5s from iTunes no problem, it recognised it fine for first couple days.
Then I decided to build an app to it with XCode. It didn't recognize it.  It's organiser still listed my previous phone, and since they shared the same name, I renamed the new phone to avoid confusion. Once I did that, iTunes stop recognizing it, and can't see it at all any more.
    Here's the details.
    a) I have NOT done any builds or anything to the phone with XCode, since it wasn't recognized.
    b) I've restarted my mac and iTunes multiple times.
    c) I've renamed the phone back to the previous name.
    d) I'm running the very latest versions of everything, iOS, Mavericks, iTunes.
Any ideas on how to get iTunes to recognise my new phone (or XCode, but i figure iTunes is first priority, if I solve that XCode might work too).

Pretty simple solution. Make sure your USB cable is firmly plugged into your computer, not the wall charger.
