My imac screen has dirt spots

Hello,
I just noticed that my 27' iMac screen has some dirts from inside the glass. looks like humidity. It is increasing day after day.
Hardware less than one year and still under warranty.
Any idea what to do?
Thank you
Karim

My iMac also had this issue. I brought it to a repair shop and they were able to seal it for me. I think it only cost around $75. Haven't had the issue since I had it treated. They said it was condensation and that it happened quite a bit with various iMacs.

Bad power, unshielded speakers, improper hardware installs which lead to loose cables, can all cause this.

  • New 27" iMac Screen Has Grey Marks

Called Apple support. They just told me to take into an Apple store. I've had my new iMac for maybe two weeks now and I just started to notice the lower half of my iMac screen has a sort of grey / purple residue throughout. Not sure if it's on the outside or the inside but it appears to be on the out. I've tried wiping the screen several times with the black cloth that came with my computer but nothing gets rid of it. I've also tried a very damp cloth.
    Any ideas?

    I have a late 2009 21.5 iMac.
Last night my friend brought his mid 21.5  2010 iMac here so I could upgrade him to Yosemite ( I have very fast internet).
Anyway, side by side, the 2010 iMac is EXTREMELY bright compared to my late 2009 iMac.
Here is a photo that I took of them to give an idea. I posted a question about it elsewhere here but no responses yet.
You can see the color profiles for each. The 2010 is on the left, 2009 on the right. I wonder if there's a way to adjust the color profile to match the 2010?
If you look ...you can see mine has a grey tinge ....(it looks yellow on my monitor but on the camera and to my eyes, mine is definitely a grey tinge. The 2010 is bright white no matter where you look at it.

  • My iMac Screen has become completely pixilated and flashing

Went to use my computer this morning and after about 5 minutes the screen became completely pixilated.  Shut the computer down and tried to restart and got this.
Called apple care but my protection plan has expired, representative was very nice and after listening to me describe the problem he sent me a link to reset the PRAM.  I followed the instructions and now I get this:
Computer continues to go to a grey box that says I must restart.  Does anyone have any other suggestions for what this may be??  PLEASE HELP!!

Allan, the information is so confusing....
Indeed! That's why I editted out that part after having second thoughts and seeing your follow-up. The MacTracker database is pretty good about details but does not go into which iMacs have separate video hardware. From personal iMac exerience within the family, we jumped from a G3/400 to my mid-2010 quad-cor i7 27-inch without managing to own any of the intervening models!
My biggest concern for the OP is parts. Althoguh that model still shows as "supported," there have been times when Apple didn't have parts that old.

  • IMac Screen has burn marks developing

I have a late 2008 iMac that up to now seems to be operating ok. But recently there have been dark spots occurring on the screen after the unit warms up. It's most definitely caused by heat because the spots on the screen are hot to the touch.
When I turn the unit off and let it rest, then reboot after a while, the marks go away.
Is this an Apple defect?  Is there anything that can be done? In other words if I take it to the Apple Store are they going to tell me there's nothing they can do?

I don't b4elieve they'd tell you that they can't do anything; the point would be to find out exactly what issue is causing it and how much it would cost to replace that part. If your machine is a 2008 is getting to be +/- 7 years old which - with electronic devices - is very old. So you will need to determine if whatever fix they offer is worth spending the money on. And, after 7 years, it would be far too difficult to prove it's a manufacturing defect - rather, it appears to be simply parts wearing out after quite a long time.

  • Macbook Screen has light spots when viewing dark background

So I just got a new macbook for my birthday about 2 weeks ago, and I've noticed that at the top of my screen there are two identical lighter areas that make the screen look like it's bent, when it is not. I can only see these two spots when I'm viewing a black or dark image in full screen mode. I'm wondering if this is fixable or if Apple can replace the screen.I have not exerted any force on it, and it was noticeable when I got it, but it has gotten slightly worse. It's not a huge issue, just irritating when viewng movies etc.

it is definitely possible to have a bum screen. i had a similar situation with my macbook, except it was a darkened area on the right side of the screen.
take it back to an apple store and they will replace your computer for free since the screen is considered an inoperable area for the apple techs there. just make sure you schedule and appointment at your local store with the Genius Bar before you go, else you may be waiting in line for a long time.

  • Screen has bad spots - inactive touchscreen problems

I've had my iPhone for a week and love the device, but earlier today, I tried to check voice mail and could not activate the top part of my screen. It's like there's a dead zone at the top and anytime I try to touch 1,2,3 on the phone, check voice mail or touch any part of this screen region...it's dead. It's also in the area to reset the phone in General Settings.
    Anyone have this problem?
    Any advice?
Thanks in advance. Loyal Mac Addict and iphone fan, but really hate problems that prevent me from making calls on such an expensive phone.

Unfortunately, I have the same problem. The bottom of my screen lost sensitivity after only about 20 days of use. First the very bottom of the screen went out so I could not hit the space-bar on the keyboard, or change to the number/character screen. Then it got worse a few days later, now I cannot hit any of the main function buttons. I have no Phone, no Safari, no iPod, and no Mail... I can barely get the slider to work when unlocking.
I have gone through the reseting procedure as well as restoring it completely, This made no difference as it is clearly a hardware issue.
It's too bad that there are so few physical buttons because when the screen goes out, it is seriously useless.
Apple should not be charging people for a temporary phone while repairing this type of thing, it is an obvious manufacturing issue, and it is costing my business money for me to be without my phone.
I have yet to get this repaired, as I am in China on business, so I'm totally screwed. I have to go out and pay full price for an antiquated replacement phone out here.
I do really love this phone, it is by far the best consumer electronic device I've ever used, but that makes me even more bitter that I'm stuck out on a business trip without it, and forced to use a cell phone from another company stuck in the ice-age.

For OS X 10.8 or later: Select

  • How to i fix a flicker on my iMac screen?

My imac screen has just started flickering. I have researched it and it already a promblem with other mac's. How is this problem fixed? Thanks

You could reset the pram and smc to see if that helps. I would however suggest if the machine is within waranty you contact your local Apple store as this sounds like  a hardware fault to be honest.

  • 2010 27in imac screen failure

my 2010 27 in imac screen has failed, right half of screen grey shadow, dark, i note that this has been a problem in the past, seems that apple ireland are not concerned? any opinions or suggestions? seems that there are major reliability issues with imac
extremely disappointed with product and apple support.

Your are missing the point. Yes, there will be the occasional Mac that has a display failure.. Yes, there will be a number of LCD displays that fail out of the millions of Macs that are assembled with LCD displays. And yes, techs will be seeing those occasional display failures over the wide array of Mac models upon which they work. But there are a number of companies that make LCD displays for Apple with the various Mac models that exist. And sometimes there are different companies making the displays for the same Mac model. These are the random, occasional display failures that can be expected with every computer manufacturer who assembles massive numbers of computers; Apple, Toshiba, Dell, Sony and on and on.
But the point is that the link that I gave you points to a consistent mass failure of displays on the same iMac model, assembled in the same factory, over the same time period with displays from the same manufacturer. That doesn't exist for your iMac. If it did we would see folks posting about it here in large numbers, just as we did back in 2006 and 2007, which we are not.
