If this is Internet related, the slow downs can be caused by increased user activity on your ISP's server.
The more people on your ISP's server doing things on the Internet, the slower your connection will be.
Is there certain times of the day when you notice the Internet is slow?
If so, that's probably the reason.
Also, do you share a connection with anyone else? Either on WiFi or Ethernet?
That will slow your connection, too!
Do you know what your Internet download speeds are?
Not a high enough bandwidth and slow downs will be more evident.
If on a WiFi, is the router you are you using 802.11 B, G, or N speeds?
Might be time from a newer, faster router?

I downloaded "21 Jump Street" on my IPhone and it has been two days and it is still not downloaded ans it seems to be frozen at "processing," is there anything that I can do to make the movie download or get my money back?
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

Intel based iMac Seems to Be Getting Slower
I have one of the recent Intel based iMac's. Everything seems to run fine but the system is starting to slow down. I doubt it's mechanical, I do IT work for a living so I'm probably much more sensitive to it then most people are. I'm just wondering what might be causing it? For example system startup seems to have gotten noticeably slower since I purchased back in may of this year. Normal application use seems the same, but if I run a old powerpc based game, I need to restart the machine after I close it, otherwise the machine crawls.
The system has the latest OS updates, 4GB Ram, 2.8GHZ processor, Geforce 8800GS 512MB. I'm using a wired Apple Pro Keyboard (white keys, right before the aluminum release), Logitech MX518 Wired Mouse. The 4GB of ram is not standard, but a matched pair of 2GB chips from Other World Computing.
I use a program called Xslimmer to weed out files I don't need to save space. I don't have any really large files on the system, just thousands of smaller photos & documents. Free space on the hard disk is 318.79GB. I have 3 login items: CoverSutra, iTunes Helper, and EyeTV Helper that run automatically on startup.
Any suggestions? Should I consider an application like Drive Genius, Spring Cleaning, etc? I did install the Logitech Control Center (don't know how to remove it) but I don't use it, it's not in my startup items, and doesn't see the mouse anyway.
Thanks!Try starting without the eyeTV stuff. (I've noticed my Macbook which used to shut down in exactly 3 seconds now takes 8 seconds, and this began the day I installed eyeTV).
I would then try starting without CoverSutra. You need to eliminate things one by one. -
Where can I find an Mac OS X 10.7.4.Install disc for my Macbook Pro please? I have been searching for several hours now and can not find it anywhere. The internal repair function is not able to fix the Macintoch HD. Please help. Thanks
Thank you for your answer.
However, I am not a mac, neither computer specialist. I also have MacKeeper installed and they give me following instructions ;
Start from your Mac OS X Install disc: Insert the installation disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
Click the First Aid tab.
Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
Select your Mac OS X volume.
Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
You should get the cd somewhere
Yes, I can still use my MB but not of the repair functions seems te help.
Is your suggestion able to repair the HD as well? When running disk utillities he tells me that the HD needs to be repaired.
Thanks for your comments. -
Hello. I have an iPhone 4S. I need to get a picture sent to me a little over a month ago. It is still in iMessages in a conversation. However, as i scroll up and click on the picture, iMessages closes down on me. Is there anything I can do to get this picture?
Close out of the message app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
Then do a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for your phone to boot back up.
Then check and see if you can save the pic. -

I cant get my iphone 5 to be compatible with my mac book pro. When I plug the iphone 5 in it tells me that i need a newer version of itunes 10.7 and I currently have 10.6. I checked for updates in my itunes and it says i dont have any. So i have gone to the itunes website to try and redownload itunes which i believe it 11.7. When I try and download that version it tells me the software on my computer doesn't suppor that version. I try to update my software and it says there is not software updates available right now. Is there anyway I can get my iphone 5 to synce to my itunes?
In order to get those to work you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
and in the UK:
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard, preferably the full 10.6.8 combo updater. -
After running the diagnostics test, I am still getting an error -3 when trying to burn a CD. What else can I do?
Anyone????? Need help...

My mac seems to be getting slow, what can I do to speed it up?
My iMac seems to be getting slow..I see the "colorful wheel from ****" (as I like to call it) far too often these days. In addition, videos are freezing far more often than they ever did before. It often requires me to restart completely.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?Step by Step to fix your Mac
Why is my computer slow?
Most commonly used backup methods
If you get pinwheels when off the Internet, it coudl be a failing boot drive or just a few bad sectors as it has a hard time reading from it.
This is a possible cure, it's a lot of work though.
Reducing bad sectors effect on hard drives

My iMac seems to be running slower lately. Is there anyway to make it run faster?
My iMac seems to be running slower than when I first bought it. Is there something I can do to make it running faster? Also can anyone recommend a good antivirus software for Mac. Thanks.
The best antivirus application is none at all, keep OS X up-to-date and educate yourself about Malware by reading Viruses, Trojans and Malware - Prevention and removal: Apple Support Communities.
In order to speed up your iMac we need to know some basics about it first such as what version of OS X is installed, exactly which iMac you own, how much RAM it has, what size is the HD and how much free space on the HD. Without those fundamentals we would only be guessing. -
My imac seems to be running slow
My iMac seems to be running slow. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hello Patrick, see how many of these you can answer...
See if the Disk is issuing any S.M.A.R.T errors in Disk Utility...
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH7029
Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free Disk space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab of Activity Monitor, are there a lot of Pageouts? -
IMac seems to be running slower then when i first got it!
Hi,
Recently i bought an iMac G4 800MHz. When i first started using it, it was fast even on 256MB RAM.
Now i have had a few problems. I started to track the IP addresses that were accessing my computer and turned on the Firewall to stop the problem. It worked and the computer sped up and things went a little smoother. Then a few days ago my MSN started logging me out everytime i logged in so i changed my password. That worked. But my computer is still sluggish. I've updated all the security. I have also downloaded Clamxav and Zebra Scanner from the apple downloads. I began picking up some unusual IP address trying to access my computer.
I'm not sure if these IP addresses are ok or normal but the firewall denies access and i can still go to the normal websites i go to without harm.
Is there anything anyone can suggest?Welcome!
It's not very likely that a virus/malware is slowing you. Although "officially" above the minimum, 320MB RAM is light for Tiger. Of our various G4 Macs running Tiger, the least RAM installed is 768MB. The others range from 1G to 1.75G RAM. A low RAM count plus a hard drive that's filling up can really drag down the performance.
My best recommendation is to review the maintenance articles on this web site:
http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/faqs.html
There are number of routine cleanup items you can do without a tech looking over your shoulder that will maximize your performance. -
My Imac Seems to have developed condensation under the screen does anybody know why or how to help this ?
seems to have happned very suddenly.I've had my 24" iMac for about 4 years now and yesterday was the first time I ever saw condensation building up in the lower right corner. I completely freaked out, but after doing some online research, found that it wasn't uncommon to have this happen. I live in Florida and we had a lot of rain that day and the temperature has been whacky... But I never thought I'd ever see condensation in my computer! )c: I shut my computer down while freaking out and the condensation quickly disappeared. I read some people are just leaving the computer on and it will also disappear. I didn't want to take the chance of it getting worse, so I turned it off. I'm kind of worried about turning it back on again. Has anyone found anything else out about the problem?

Over a week ago I updated my computer to Firefox 4.0. Since then my computer is very slow accessing the internet, websites and getting information from within a website. Also, a tool bar has shown up for YAHOO which I did not request. The old detailed tool bar for Firefox has disappeared. All that now shows for Firefox is the area to enter website urls and an area to enter topic for a Google Search.
Many times I have to exit Firefox and re-enter it later to access the internet.
Please advice what I need to do to get back to the speed I had with the older version of Firefox.
Thank You,

MBP leopard 10.5.8 is getting slower and the spinning wheel is constant
My 1 year old MBP running OSX has got more sluggish. The little multicolored spinning timer wheel keeps appearing a lot more now, and I hate it! My MBP takes drastically longer to boot when i turn it on as opposed to when I just got it. My web pages take a long time to load. Can anyone help me? WHat can I do to speed up my MBP. I am a novice mac user. this is my first mac. I appreciate the help. Again my mac is getting slower by the day and i dont know how to increase its overall performance. Is there any simple software that can boost overall performance or will I have to reformat my MBP? I have a 200gb HD with 50 gb free and 4 gb of ram. I thought with that ram i would have a super fast MBP but I dont. Please help.
Thanks in Advance,

Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
Launch the Activity Monitor utility. Pull down the list near the top and set it to "All Processes". Click on the "CPU" column heading to put the highest CPU consumers at the top. Also click on the "CPU" tab in the lower part of the window to check the value for "% Idle". If that value is much above zero, check the other categories for signs of resource problems. If nothing there points to a possible problem, launch the Console utility and look for messages that might suggest a problem. If you see messages that you have trouble interpreting, post them here and someone should be able to help.
