My iMac stops responding... its' literally freezes....

and can't move a thing... the screen is still on. no kernel panic or anything... even checked the diagnostic logs... shows nothing... last one I had was 3 weeks ago... but I recently experienced this a couple of times.
some sites recommend check memory and SMART check for the hard... did all that (using techpro) no issues found... what is wrong with my dear imac? This is the latest imac (late 2012), 27 inch and OS is ML.
appreciate any advice.
thanks
Y

    Try:

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router

  • My Iphone 3G has stopped responding, IOS system freeze, and my home button is broke, how do I fix this system freeze?

I have tried restoring from backup via itunes but it said error occured I cant do anything.. Help mee??

Try plugging it up to your computer and launching iTunes and either resetting it to factory settings or resetting to last sync. Hopefully it just noticing it's plugged up to iTunes will fix it. This happened to my friend once and all she had to do was plug it into her computer and that fixed it.

  • The action file print causes PS CS5 to hang, stop responding

The action file print causes PS CS5 to hang, stop responding
Its installed on a Win 7 64 bit PC i7 with 6G ram
PS is version 12.0.4 64 bit
The print dialouge box does come up eventualy around 10 mins later (some times).   While waiting PS is totaly dead and the task manager shows it as not responding
    Anyone got any ideas?

I might suggest seeking out an updated printer driver to see if that will help.
Is it possible you have a network path configured in there somewhere that's pointing to something no longer available on your network?

  • IMac wont respond after boot. Bad softwareupdate on may 17. 2006?

After using Software Update this morning with several updates, including security update and firmware update (SMC).... my iMac stops responding appr. 30 sec. after boot. I can move the mouse arround, but keyboard and mouseclick doesn't work. Anyone else with the same problem?
The problem started after software update but BEFORE the SMC update.
    Any suggestions ???? Please help!

I have the same issue and tried all the things suggested here, and here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106464#symp1
    and here,
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
but it still leaves me with a blue screen on startup. Any other suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • Firefox stops responding to mouse clicks after one click; am on iMac PPC G5,OS 10.4.11; this freeze happens with Logitech AND Mac mice.

About a month ago Firefox would stop responding to the clicks of my mouse after a click or two. Minimizing the page and reopening, or clicking off to another window and back, sometimes gives me another click or two but it always freezes again. I'm on an iMac G5 PPC (from around 2005) desktop running OS 10.4.11. I have a Logitech mouse and loaded a newer driver, and upgraded to Firefox 3.6.12 but the problem persists. I also tried running in Safe Mode but this did not fix the problem, and tried both the original Mac mouse and my Wacom tablet but neither fixes the problem.

Same problem FF3.6.13 WinXP. I had this before but it went away. Upgraded from Firebug 1.6.1 to 1.6.2 tonight and the problem returned; not sure if that's coincidence.
Weird thing is, it's not just that Firefox doesn't respond to the mouse clicks. The click goes right through Firefox to whatever's underneath. However, only the top FF window is affected. If I have two FF windows open, alt-tab into window A, then into window B (both maximised), then when window B stops responding the clicks are picked up by window A.
With window B not responding but over window A, if I click where window A has a SELECT, window A receives the mouse event and the OPTIONS appear over window B.
Only alt-tabbing to another non-Firefox window fixes the problem, and only temporarily.

  • TS1398 my problem is my iphone 4s is connected to the internet(wi-fi) with full signal strength but freezes when browsing and says "Cannot Open Page, Safari could not open page because the server stopped responding".

my problem is my iphone 4s is connected to wi-fi with full signal(3 bars) strength but freezes when browsing and says
    "Cannot Open Page"
"Safari could not open page because the server stopped responding"
I already reset the iphone to its factory settings and erase all contents but still the browsing speed freezes or not searching at all. Sometimes it will work and fast but then the problem uccors every now and then. Iv'e been using iphone 4 for two years and I still have it and works fine compared to this IPHONE 4S.

Settings → scroll down to Safari → in Safari settings, I selected both Clear History and Clear Cookies and Data.
IF that does not work -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Finally - if problem still present -
    Go to Settings>General>Reset
Reset the network settings - you will need to add the password of your home WiFi in your phone once more
The device should turn itself off & back on then go into Settings>Wifi and join your network

Try increasing the KeepAlive timeout for the proxy server. Make it 65 seconds or so (MSIE has a default KA timeout of 60 seconds, and it gets really grumpy if the server drops the KA connection before its own timeout happens).

  • Itunes freezes and stops responding after about 1 minute of being open

This problem has been happening only recently. It just freezes, I logged onto my computer yesterday and it did the same thing. And it's doing it again today!! its really frustrating! I just re-installed itunes, the latest version for windows. My computers specs can handle it no problem..
The song i am listening still plays, but just the program stops responding
I only have like 103 songs.
I got an ipod classic about a month ago and converted some videos for it, just letting you know incase that is the problem. but this never happened when i got my ipod or before.. only just now.
so whats going on and how can i fix it?

Microsoft Office 2004 (Word) unable to save files
I have been running Office 2004 on my Intel iMac with Snow Leopard for some time and all of a sudden I cannot save a document. Word just stopped responding and I have to force quit. I can open Word and create a new document but I cannot save it. I reinstalled Word but that didn’t help. Then went to the Internet and found at least one other Mac user having the same problem which it suggests is caused by a recent Mac Security Update:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2004-macword/word-2004-wil l-not-open-or-save-documents/b04eb870-9b0d-4f3b-bb47-b122301e36f6
So I check for a new Mac Security Update and sure enough there was one. I downloaded it and now Word seems to be working, as it should. I can both open and save files. The only problem remaining is that when I open Word I get the following error message “An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Framework library”. I contacted Apple but they were unable to help.
How can I get rid of this error message?

Look, I realize you might have to get your machine working, so this is how you revert back.
    Restore proceedure to pre-Security Update 2012-001 v 1.0 & v 1.1
#1 Backup your personal data off the machine.
Backup files off the computer (not to TimeMachine). If you don't have a external drive, get one and connect to the USB/Firewire port and simply drag and drop copy your User folder to the external drive, it will copy all your files. It's best to have two backups of your data off the machine when trying to restore.
Disconnect all drives now to prevent any mistakes from occuring.
    #2 Reinstall OS X 10.6 from disk
Get out your 10.6 install disk and make sure it's clean and polished (very soft cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol, no scratches) If your disk is borked, you'll have to order a new one from Apple with your serial number.
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk (wired keyboard, internal optical drive), use Disk Utility First Aid to >Repair Disk  of your internal drive  (do not format or erase!!), Quit DU and simply re-install 10.6.
Note: Simply reinstalling 10.6 version from disk (without erasing the drive) only replaces 10.6.8 with 10.6.x and bundled Apple programs, won't touch your files (backup anyway)  or most programs, unless they installed a kext file into OS X itself. (only a few on average do this)
    #3 Update to 10.6.8 without Security Update 2012-001 v1.0 or v1.1
Reboot and log in, update to 10.6.8 via Software Update, but EXCLUDE THE Security Update 2012-001 by checkinig the details and unchecking the blue check box.
#4 Reinstall any non-working third party programs
When you reboot, make sure to reinstall any programs that require kext files installed into OS X, you'll know, they won't work when you launch them or hang for some reason as they are missing the part they installed into OS X.
If for some freakish reason you get gray screen at any time when booting (possible it might occur when you reinstall older programs), hold the shift key down while booting (Safe Mode, disables kext files) and update your installed third party software so it's compatible with 10.6.8.

    That's it really.

  • Two Buttons on my iPhone 4 & Its Accessory Keyboard Have All Stopped Responding.  What to do?

The "Calendar" and the "Reminder" buttons on my iPhone 4 purchased in 9/2012 have stopped responding.  The phone has worked well to date.  What to do?
I also use an accessory keyboard, which is made by Apple but is not listed online in the product options for Apple Support:  Apple Model A1314.  Among the numbers on the back is a possible model specifier, N122Z844.  This keyboard also has worked well to date. It takes 2 AA batteries; these are quite fresh.  "The Week" magazine recently listed it among good keyboards to buy, so I know Apple still supports it.  When I tap its on/off button, it still synchs with the iPhone.  I know that synch is working ok because, if the iPhone's screen-tap keyboard is displayed on the phone's screen when I activate the accessory keyboard, the screen-tap keyboard disappears. I have always needed to remove the batteries if I intend to, e.g., slip the keyboard into my briefcase.  This is because the keyboard turns itself on with any pressure on the on/off key, & perhaps with pressure on other keys as well.  I know it has a lot of built-in programming, because sometimes I have mistakenly pressed an unrememberable sequence of keys that has caused the thing to start typing in a foreign language.  In the past, taking out the batteries has allowed it to resume its mother tongue, American English.
At about the same time the iPhone Calendar & Reminders button stopped working, this accessory keyboard also stopped working, as follows:  Despite having synched to the phone, when I type on it, it does not respond.
I think the problem may be that certain keys have been pressed in transit or by me accidentally in such a sequence as to foul up the options that are hard-wired in the keyboard.  I haven't found an online users manual to this keyboard on the Apple site so will appreciate any help.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If issues continue, clearly define the issues without all the rambling.

  • IMac system stops responding repeatedly

    Hi,
My iMac running on Lion Os is having some serrious issues since a while. It starts up without a problem but after a little while most things stop responding to mouse clicks or clicks suddenly provoke closure of windows and sudden scrolling. This happens on a daily base and most of the time rebooting( or updating) does not resolve the issue and the symptoms are getting worse. Sometimes the computer will just stay stuck from the start and only the side bar will react to the mouse clicks. It really reminds me of  a virus from back in the windows days...Thx.

Remove the "MacKeeper" crapware as follows. First, back up all data.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions, nor do I intend to repeat the test.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Applications from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. A dialog will pop up asking why you want to uninstall it. You don't have to provide that information. Enter anything you like in the text box, then click the Uninstall button. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. That's the only useful feature of "MacKeeper:" it deletes itself. Reboot.
Do not try to uninstall by dragging the MacKeeper icon in the Dock or the LaunchPad to the Trash.
Here are some general suggestions. If you want your computer to be usable, don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” "tune-ups," “accelerators,” “extenders,” “cleaners,” “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this kind of material is useless, or worse than useless.
The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be garbage. The most extreme example is the “MacKeeper” scam.
The only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it.
