My imac won't accept the password at startup page?

My Imac is frozen on startup page. It won't let me type in the password. I've tried shutting down, but still doesn't work. any suggestions? Thank you.

Boot in safe mode (shift key down at startup) and try again. Be aware that, if you're using a trackpad or Magic Mouse, tap-to-click does not work in the login dialog.

Run Repair Disk: Boot from install disc (insert disc>restart>immediately hold down c key and keep holding it until you see “Preparing Installation”)>at first screen select the language and click Continue> click on the Utilities Menu in the menu bar>open Disk Utility>select your HD in the panel on the left side>check S.M.A.R.T. status>if it says "Verified">click Repair Disk at bottom of main window. Run this at least twice, and keep running it until it says “appears ok” twice in a row. If that doesn’t happen, you may need a stronger utility such as DiskWarrior or if the directory is damaged beyond repair, you may need to reinstall the OS, or you may have a damaged HD (repair utilities can only repair the directory structure, not the HD itself). When this is finished, quit Disk Utility, quit the installer, and restart. Once booted normally, go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions.
If you're still not able to log in, boot from your install disc again, select the language, go up to the Utilities Menu, and choose Reset Password. Follow onscreen prompts.

Imac won't accept Airport Password

My iMac will not accept the password of our airport extreme network...it finds the network and when I type in the password it rejects it.. It is able to connect to my neighbor's unprotected network.. I have raised this computer from the dead and it is working fine except for this .... do you have any suggestions... thanks so much..

A new or recent AirPort Extreme router would use the WPA security protocol by default. Depending on the iMac G4 model, it may not be able to use WPA. The iMac itself supports WPA and Mac OS X Panther supports WPA, but some of the oldest original AirPort cards (802.11b) cannot use WPA, while newer cards of the same type can use WPA. It can definitely use the older WEP security protocol, so you can try changing the setting on the router to use WEP. If your iMac G4 is a newer model that uses the AirPort Extreme (802.11g) card, this should not be a problem.
It would make sense that it works on an unsecured wireless network, if it is a problem with WPA not being supported. As a test, you can try disabling security on your AirPort Extreme router to make sure it is working.

Changed Apple ID now mobile phone won't accept the password

I changed my Apple ID using my laptop. I have synched my phone since then, but somehow my phone now won't accept my password. I'm trying to download an app and it brings up the old apple ID and then says my password was entered incorrectly. My password is not incorrect and I am able to get into my apple account via my laptop. What can I do?

On your Phone sign Out of your Account... close All open Apps.. and Perform a Reset...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

I agree with the Thomas, in that I think you have mucked up your settings in the AOL account. Your username should be something like - [email protected] Your password is whatever you use as the password.
You could try deleting the account and start over again. Here is a link to a "how to set up AOL email " on the iPad. It is 4 or 5 step process and just make sure that you are entering the correct information in the correct fields in the set up. Among my 4 email accounts on my iPad, I have 2 AOL accounts. I have no problems at all and it was really very easy to set up. There is no reason why AOL email should not work on your iPad.
To repeat and emphasize - Just make sure that you are entering the correct information in the appropriate fields as I think that's where you are making your mistakes.
If I had my choice, I would probably chuck the AOL accounts as well, but I have all the spam filters set as high as I can on the server, and it has cut down tremendously on the spam. Unfortunately - we set up AOL accounts at my workplace years ago and I really hesitate to change them now, so I continue on with these, but like I said, they work fine and they were very easy to set up.

If hot mail, you go into the settings, mail, contacts and calendars and edit your hot mail account. Of if it won't edit, delete it off the iPad, then re-add it with the new password.

Since I upgraded the hardware myself - the warranty that covers the computer is basically nulled.
Warranty is not made void by upgrading memory or storage. If you have AppleCare then you should be fine.
Disk Utility is powerful, but not the most powerful tool out there. There might be other applications (sometimes expensive) that can fix the volume. If your Windows partition works but not the Mac partiiton that leads me to believe the issue is solvable.
Can you read the Mac files from your Windows partition?

How do you update apps that where purchased using different iTunes accounts? I get a cannot connect to iTunes message and it won't accept the password even after you change it.

Both my iPad and iPhone have the same problem. I have purchased apps with three different accounts. I understand I will need to use the original acct to do the update but every time it asks for the password I put it in and get a message that I cannot connect to iTunes store. I have even had the password reset and it still will not connect on the upgrade. But I can sign in with that account and purchase new apps i am loading a free one now just to make sure. So what is that about? Please do not tell me I have to also use the original password! We have reset them so many times that there is no way to remember the original one used at time of purchase a year and 1/2 ago. Please help. I have also upgraded to the iCloud thinking this would solve the problem but it still exists.

I use only one Apple ID and only one ID. I did have to change the password at one point but I had no issues at all with updating apps after I changed the password.
If you can download new apps with the ID that you changed the password for, I would think that you will be able to update apps associated with that ID as well.
Did you try restarting the iPad after signing out of the one account and then sign in to the other account/accounts?

TS1398 I have gone with Sky broadband today. My iphone connected fine. Then I got an email through & my phone screen froze so I had to switch it off then on again. Since doing this, when I try to reconnect to my router, it won't accept the password saying

SMTP server won't accept the password

Okay. Please tell me what I have done wrong. I continue to get the message, The SMTP server "smtp.mac.com" rejected for the user.... This box continues to pop up even if I hit cancel.

Same issue here.
POP account the won't authenticate SMTP through Mac Mail ONLY. All account settings work with Thunderbird and with the webmail client. I've had our host check on his side to see if an authentication request comes in for me and it's not. So this is directly related to Mac Mail. I've tried removing and recreating the account. No go.
Any ideas. Really need this working.

Works for me at the moment (Firefox 4 on Windows 7).
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache
Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage: "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here (while viewing a page on linkedin.com)
right-click the page, choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

How can I access my iCloud email account when I don't remember the password and Apple won't accept the answer to my security question?
