My images are going from from camera raw to totally white in Photoshop CS6, I am using a Mac computer.

I am using Photoshop CS6 and my images are opening up totally white from camera raw into photoshop.
I am using a Mac. Just recently switched from PC to raw, and never had this problem.

Is everything up to date?

  • I recently switched from PC to a Mac Book Pro and some things are different. I used to be able to open a jpeg or tiff in camera raw on my PC in Photoshop CS6 by going to file, open as, picking my image under file name and "open as" click on camera raw. Ho

I recently switched from PC to Mac and I want to be able to open a tiff or jpeg in camera raw. I could do it on my PC but can't figure out how to do it in Mac??

Use File>Open, set Enable to All Readable Documents, then click on your tiff or jpeg and select Camera Raw under Format
    Then click on Open

  • Canon CR2 raw images are forcibly cropped by Camera Raw

I posted this on the Photoshop Discussion as I did not realise that Camera Raw has its own - sorry folks!
Camera raw is cropping my cr2 images even after I have removed the crop in DPP (Digital Photo Professional - Canon's own raw editing software). I have many images cropped by a Canon 5D3 as it forces a 16:9 crop when you take a still while in video mode. The rest of the data is in the raw file, but this is not read by Camera Raw which forces the 16:9 crop. I have removed the crops in DPP, and even re-cropped with a different crop, saved the files and used every way I can imagine to get them into PS short of turning them into tiffs. I do not want to save as a tiff, as I really like the tools in PS Raw, especially the exposure tool (I am no great photographer but I have some very special and irreplaceable pics form fieldwork overseas which are ahem errr not quite correctly exposed).
My ideal worflow is open folder in DPP - star rate the pics I want to work on. crop them (nice to do this in DPP as it is part of the selection process) then get them into Camera Raw without any more effort, then if an image can be tweaked - do it as a Raw, if it needs more work - get it into PS6 as a tiff and go from there. This seems to minimise effort and minimise file space, at the expense of having two different file types.
Does anyone else work like this, or is there a better way to review 300 similar pics and get the best selected and processed? Has anyone else encounteres this refusal of Camera Raw to ignore the camera's crop? I bleive that there is a plug-in for lightroom, does anyone know a work around for PS  - I have PS6 with raw 7.3.
    Thanks
    Gor

Oh can I, thanks . I couldn't see a way to open a tiff in ACR - It only opens when I drag a Raw image into ps6, and it has no file>open to allow me to open a tiff.  In fact it is a rather strange piece of software - it doesn't seem to exist on its own (not as part of production suite anyway).
This would be a work-around for sure if you could tell me how to do it??
    UPDATE
FOr anyone else with this problem you can force ps6 to open all tiffs in ACR with a setting in preferences in RAW - automatically open all tiffs. It is still a bit of a pain as i dont really want to automatically open them all, but hey!

  • Camera Raw won't open in Photoshop CS6

Wanting to begin using the Camera Raw plug-in for PS CS6, I find that it isn't active. (1) In Bridge CS6, the ACR icon in the top menu is grayed out; (2) after clicking a JPEG image file in Bridge, then right-clicking it, there's no option to open it in Camera Raw; (3) using Bridge's File menu, there's no Camera Raw option visible; and (4) in PS CS6, going from File > Open, then choosing "Camera Raw" in the Enable options drop-down list, each JPEG file is grayed out.
My attempts to activate Camera Raw involve (1) downloading DNG Converter 8.7.1 and (2) attempting to download ACR 8.3…Adobe Update. That second effort failed, getting this error code: "Camera Raw 8.3(CS6) U44M2P7". I currently have AdobeCameraRaw7.0ALL and AdobeCameraRawProfile7.0ALL installed on a Mac running OS10.7.6.
I don't know what else to do. Please tell me how to activate Camera Raw using Photoshop CS6.
    Thank you very much.

Benjamin, I thank you very much for your prompt and helpful e-reply!
I've downloaded and installed the ACR plug-in for v. 8.7.1.311 Now, files open in Camera Raw, as expected, when using Bridge CS6. That's great.
    I have two questions, Ben:
1 -- -- Although the first three options that I mentioned above (working from Bridge) are successful, I'm unable to open JPEGs in Camera Raw directly from Photoshop [as in option (4) above]. I'd like to be able to open JPEG files from PS; is there a preference I need to set to get PS to recognize and enable ACR?
2 -- -- Should I now delete all files related to AdobeCameraRaw7.0ALL? Or are those files required to run with the new plug-in?
    Thank you, my friend.

  • Camera Raw 7.3 Update replaced Photoshop CS6 Standard with CS6 Extended Trial version

How do I get back to Photoshop CS6 Standard edition after Camera Raw 7.3 update?
After installing the Camera Raw update photoshop now runs as the Trial version of Photoshop Extended.

I upgraded CS6 and Lightroom 4 today and then when restarting Photoshop CS6 this evening I get a dialog about registering with my e-mail for Photoshop Extended Edition Trial.
I have never owned the Extended edition and did the update from my existing product using the Adobe Update manager. There should have been no reason for this mistake to occur.
I've done upgrades like this many, many times before and have never had my system react this way. You clearly have a bug in your update process and should fix it pronto. Do you know how confusing it is to get a dialog like this? Should I let it register me for a product I don't own? Is that going to somehow trash my legitimate license (now there's the process of activation, I'm always concerned that I'll mess things up and end up unable to use Photoshop until support can help me out)
I'll go find my serial number and re-enter it, but I think this is a serious bug - and will make me much more cautious about waiting to apply updates until I've read the forums to make sure it's safe to do so

  • Is Camera Raw 7.3 available for Photoshop CS6?

I have Lightroom 4.3 and it keeps asking for Camera Raw 7.3 when I want to edit photos in Photoshop CS6 from LR. My understanding of the Adobe support site is that Camera Raw 7.3 is only available via the Update function in Photoshop. I updated Photoshop but LR still asks for Camera Raw 7.3 and Photoshop still shows Camera Raw 7.2 as the installed version (under System info) and the Update function says Photoshop is up to date...how do I fix this?
There doesn't seem to be an easy way round this problem. How can I download a discrete CR 7.3 executable? My OS is Windows 8.

Hi there, thanks for the reply. I can only assume you have Windows 7. My Windows 8 screens look like this...and Photoshop System Info the last image. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

  • Please help me , my camera raw doesn't open on photoshop or bridge

my camera raw doesn't open on photoshop cs6 or adobe bridge :S and i don't know what is the reason , when i try to open any of my raw photos i get this message
so what should i do ? please any one help me here
    thanks

You’ll need a connection to the internet, and probably have a registered version to do updates.  Sometimes it takes a few minutes for PSE to talk to the Adobe servers and see that you’re needing updates.  If you are connected to the internet, then perhaps your computer has a firewall or internet security that needs temporarily disabled.  So try some things like that.
You can also try downloading and running the updaters for ACR 8. CS6 from this Adobe blog page:

Please read this: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders
You do not want to be in the Import section of Lightroom, you want to be in the Library Module. You don't want "Update Folder Location", you want to ctrl-click on a Folder name (not in Import, but in the Library Module Folder Panel) and select "Find Missing Folder"
You do not want to re-import photos that have already been imported, this is almost always a bad thing to do.

  • Exported JPGs in 2.7 are 3x size of Camera Raw

I have a Canon 5DMarkII and I noticed that the exported jpgs from full size RAW files are 17-25 MB whereas the same file in Camera Raw saves as about a 6-7 MB file. I have the LR export set to export JPG files with sRGB color space. When I take a jpg straight from the camera it's only 6-7 MB. Does anyone know what my problem is? Thanks.

No image resize. .... Sharpen STD for screen.
If you don't resize, you probably shouldn't use output sharpening. The screen sharpen is mostly to counteract the softening effect of downsizing your image. Apart from that, at full size, it will likely mostly emphasize noise and therefore increase your filesize. Just optimize the capture sharpening in Develop (make sure to optimize the masking parameter, which will cut down in noise in areas such as skies)  so that your image looks good at 1:1 and then don't apply extra sharpening in the export. At ISO 400, you also might want to add a touch of noise reduction. With the switch from 2.6 to 2.7, the demosaic algorithm changed and now includes less noise reduction in the demosaic stage, so in 2.7 most images are going to show a little more noise with the default settings. Jpeg compression efficiency is very sensitive to noise and often you can correlate the filesize directly with the amount of noise in the image for equal quality settings.

  • When are we getting the Camera Raw plug-in version 7?

When are we getting the Camera Raw plug-in version 7 to export from Lightroom 4 to Photoshop CS5?

well imo that is nick picking.. as i payed for the same ACR 7 functionality when i bought LR 4.
it´s just to annoy the customers enough to make them upgrade photoshop too.
you can twist and turn it .. in the end it is a great leverage for adobe to push people into buying a new photoshop version.
customer support is something different.. at least in my view.
imho ACR should come with LR. so no matter what PS version you have they will be compatible.
ACR is a plugin it should be possible from the technical viewpoint.  i work with way more complicated plugins in 3D max and when i buy one i normaly get different builds that work for the latest 3-4 program versions.
but as jeff schewe wrote in another thread, for adobe it is a lot of work with zero benefit (income).
they make AE compatible with 3D max. but to get full support between adobe products.....
. But then you're really talking about new ACR functionality, which you don't want to pay for.

  • Camera Raw 4.0 unusable in Photoshop CS2

If you have Photoshop CS2 and you download the latest RAW 4.0 update, forget about opening any RAW files from cameras produced in the past year and a half or so. As a clever marketing move Adobe has disabled all functionality for RAW cameras once covered under RAW versions 3.0 through 3.7 when using the RAW version 4.0 in Photoshop CS2. Why would they do that, you ask? To sell more software, of course!
The RAW 4.0 update adds only the Panasonic DMC-FZ8, a camera that I recently purchased. But, if I want to view RAW files from this camera I have to upgrade to Photoshop CS3 or buy Lightroom 1.0, and that is exactly what Adobe is hoping. Suddenly my Photoshop CS2 program has become obsolete because in addition I can no longer open RAW files from my Nikon D200. What is so difficult about making the RAW 4.0 plug-in compatible with other more recent Photoshop programs? Absolutely nothing! Adobe cares more about selling new software than they do about customer loyalty. Such a marketing practice is unfortunate and, in my mind, reflects poorly on Adobe's business ethics.

"I think a nice compromise to the ACR things is to design the next full version of upgrade of ACR (in this case 4.0) so that it will work with the last version of Adobe Photoshop (in this case CS2)."
Yeah, ok, here's the problem with that...Mac CS2 required 10.3.9 or above...Win CS2 required Win 2K or XP/SP2...Photoshop CS3 (and Camera Raw 4.0) requires Mac 10.4.8 and Win, XP/SP2 or Vista.
So, you code to the latest APIs of the system (10.4.x, XP/SP2 or Vista) and you are supposed to magically make a plug-in work on older APIs of the previous version of Photoshop? Even though, to progress and advance (and hopefully optimize) you commit to using the new APIs. So, how ya gonna make Camera Raw 4.0 work in Photoshop CS2-disable it for 10.3.9 and Win 2K? Forget about using new API's and suffer through the old ones?
So, you say, well, just keep updating Camera Raw 3.x...ok, for how long? Forever? For 1 quarter? For a year?
So, you got the Camera Raw engineering team (3 guys) taking time away from Camera Raw 4 to re-write code for Camera Raw 3 for cameras that weren't even sold when Camera Raw 3.x shipped...you ok with that? You realize that it will drain resources from new products with new features, but that's ok. . .you want Adobe to support old products even though they no longer sell them.
I suppose in a perfect world, that would be ok. But as a user of the current Photoshop CS3 and Camera Raw 4, I would want the engineers to be concentrating their time and energy working on what they ARE selling right now. Adding new cameras to Camera Raw 4. Adding new functionality to Camera Raw 4.
People have a pretty skewed view of software, IMHO. They drop down bucks for HARDWARE and expect the software to be upgraded forever, for free. There's just as much value in intangible personal property (software) as there is in tangible personal property (hardware). And...it ain't like these shiny new cameras don't come with the camera maker's software...and Adobe STILL provides support for new cameras in old versions via DNG...which, BTW is free...
Big ol' bad Adobe, out there trying to screw their customers...I don't think so. They bend over backwards to do the right things, but of course, to some people, even that's not enough.

  • Is Camera RAW 8.6 embedded in Photoshop Elements 13?

Is Camera RAW 8.6 embedded in Photoshop Elements 13?  This version of Camera RAW is necessary to open RAW (NEF) files from the Nikon D750 DSLR.

You might need to update it by going to:
    Help >> Updates
Have you tried installing the trial version to see if it works on your system?  It is a good idea to try it first and then when you like it, you can buy the boxed version from Amazon and use the serial number from the box to activate your trial version that you have installed.  There is no need to install again if the trial version is already on your system
    The latest version is 8.7
    Good luck.
