My imessage and facetime wont activate on my iPhone 5

i just restored my phone yesterday, then backed it up from icloud and my computer, i was activating my imessage and facetime but it would say waiting for activation for hours, its been over 12 hours now and it still has not activated.
I've tried everything, ive restarted it, wiped it completly again, signed out of my apple id back in. Ive checked to make sure there are no restrictions set. My facetime won't even set up with my apple id, it says i have a network problem but my wifi is fine.
If you have any idea how to fix this or to contact another apple support that would be great thanks.

  • Iphone 4s imessaging and facetime wont activate!

I have signed into my itunes account on my iphone, but everytime I try to activate Imessaging and Facetime it tells me "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." I have tried this in several wifi areas and it proceeds to tell me the same thing. I have made sure I have verified my appleid and tried all the troubleshooting intructions, but nothing seems to work. Now I cannot receive any notifications for any of my apps and when i get on to the app it tells me "Connect to iTunes to use puch notifications." And yes I have connected to iTunes through the computer and still couldnt figure out a solution. I dont understand what else the problem could me??

I've got the same problem as above with my 4S with same error about my Internet Connection. I've tried signing in to both FaceTime and iMessage using both 3G and WiFi and always get the same error - "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." but can sign into iTunes and this Forum no problems with same ID. My FaceTime and iMessage worked earlier on iOS6 but I just upgraded to 7 and now get these problems. Can it be a problem with the upgrade and 4S's??

what do I do? I'm with Wind could this be the problem?
somemore details, it will always say activation unsuccesful

Do a search here on the forum for Wind. I've recalled reading some issues with them. I believe I also saw a post where they are supposed to have a link on their website regarding this, but it is reported that not everything works well with them and the iPhone.

Need help!! How do i cancle my backup? It wont let me do anything! Trying to get my imessages and facetime to work

    Hi Natasha,
Below is a copy of my post in another thread on this topic. I'm not sure which country you are from, but hope it's helpful.
Possible fix for Australian users on Telstra and using Tango
I'm using the iPhone 5S with iOS 7.0.1 on a contract with Telstra in Australia and have been experiencing the problem with iMessage and FaceTime not activating. My iPhone 4S on iOS 6 worked perfectly on the same network however.
I seem to have now fixed this issue by removing the Tango app (it is similar to Skype). Reading through this thread and seeing the refernces to TuGo triggered my solution, although I believe the 2 apps are entirely unrelated (just have a similar sounding name).
This fix may have been co-incidental, given that I had to wait quite a while for a sync with iTunes to complete. After syncing, I didn't check the settings for Messages and FaceTime to see if they had been activated. I just went straight to the Tango app on the iPhone and deleted it - hey presto, instantly both Messages and FaceTime were activated.
Hope this helps others in Australia who may have Tango installed, and are on the Telstra network.
    John

  • Help me my imessage and facetime wont work

tamifrommd, for information, the links I provided included:

Hi Bowlover526.  I had a similar problem and was able to solve the issue by changing the Date & Time setting to set automatically.
From the Home screen, choose Settings→General→Date & Time.
Turn the Set Automatically option to On
Then try to log in to iMessage or Facetime. Hopefully, this will solve your issue.  Best of luck!!

  • How do I get my I message and FaceTime to activate on the iPhone 5s

How do I get my I message and FaceTime to activate on the iPhone 5s?

    settings>messages>turn on
    settings>facetime>turn on
if those dont work then go to settings>general>Reset>reset all settings
-Nothing will be deleted, you just have to go through the setup process again, setup as new ipad/iphone/ipod do not restore from back up, sign in with your apple id, and you should be good to go just make sure that both facetime and imessage are turned on

  • Imessages and Facetime cannot activate

    Hi all,
I am having difficulties with activating Imessages and Facetime on iPhone 4 iOS 6.1.3, I spent 5 days and there is no result.
Only my email is available sometimes, but my number failed with the activation.
I have tried everything I found on the inet... several restores, checked the auto date & time set, ON => OFF the activation several times...checked the restrictions, called to the carrier to check are there any problems on their end ( my sim services had been restared, all is working on the carrier end ).... tried to activate iMessages and Facetime by WiFi, by 3G... even from different parts of the city and there is NO result, both are still stucked.
For the last month I have used 4 different iPhones - 4, 4S, 3GS, 4... all of them had been restored, when my sim card was out.. so my number is not logged on any of them. iMessages and Facetime was working till the moment I put my sim card in the 3GS ( using an adapter for the sim ).
Please guys, give me some support... I really dont have an idea what I can do more to fix it.

I've tried everything i found on the internet, maybe there is a problem with the apple servers or with my apple id.. dunno.
There was a problem with both iMessage and Facetime yesterday. The Status page says that it has been resolved. However, based on the number of posts from people who are still reporting issues, I suspect that things are not quite back online for everyone. Annoying though it may be, you may just have to wait it out.
    Best of luck.

  • Imessage and facetime wont work

First I should say that this problem is on my friends ipod, not mine. She's been explaining everything to me calling me through her iPad and showing me what's been happening to her iPod touch 5. She doesn't have an iPhone, so she wants to fix this. Okay, second I should say is her iMessage and FaceTime IS NOT WORKING! Her iPod can't send or receive texts, and we've testing it out multiple times. We try to go into the iMessage app it shows NOTHING! Just BLANK! She tried to facetime through Siri and Siri says "I'm really sorry about this but I can't take any requests right now. Please try again in a little while." She says the same when asked to text someone too And no matter what we do, it Still doesn't work. she says something else's too if we again but we forgot what she says. And when my friend tries to go to the facetime app it shows her contacts but she can't click them or scroll down. So we've tried syncing her iPod through her computer but it started downloading thousand of music that she didn't want so we canceled it. Then we tried resetting the network settings and put her wifi code back in which did not work at all either. Also, when we go into settings and click either facetime or iMessage, the screen freezes when we click on one of them and of course, doesn't work. Lastly, She can go into contacts and scroll around and do whatever she wants, but when he clicks on someone, it only shows me their email and phone number but it doesn't show the little icons to text or FaceTime. We have no idea what to do. HELP!!!!!!!!!

  • IMessage and FaceTime wont work - Tried everything

I know this is asked a lot, but I think I have a different case because I used iCould to reset at first. Earlier today, I changed my passcode so my sister couldnt get on and I forgot it 20 minutes later. I unlocked it by removing everything and restoring it before and it worked, so I went to do that. I got a message saying I could reset until "Find My iPhone" was turned off, but I couldn't do that because I didnt know the passcode. I decieded to go to iCloud and erase my phone to turn 'Find my iPhone" off, which worked. When I restored from my iPhone back up, I went to FaceTime (I FaceTime a ton) and I realized it wasn't working. I went to settings and I saw it was turned off, so I turned it back on. Well, like most people it was sitting at "Waiting for activation" and after that, "An error occured during activation. Try again." I looked it up online and found a lot of solutions, to which none worked. I tried Hard rebooting, reseting network settings, Removing everything (This time off of iTunes), Removing everything and setting up as a new device, flicking it on and off multiple times (obviously), and I think thats it. Is their any other known way to fix it? Everything was working for me up until I changed my passcode and reset using iCloud which was today. I'm running the lastest version of software (iOS 7.0.4), and I don't really care if iMessage is working as I have unlimited texting so I don't need it, but I need FaceTime fixed more than anything. If anyone could help, that'd be great.

I have tried restoring and setting up as a new iPhone and then turning FaceTime on if that's that you meant. That didn't work for me. Disabling Cellular didn't work either, but thanks for the suggestion.

  • IMessage and FaceTime stops working in iMac after carrier change

    Hi all,
I have done a fair bit of googling and had a look at the discussion history here but couldn't find a solution to my problem. Apology if it has been raised and discussed before and I woud appreciate being re-directed to the thread.
I have got iMessage and Face Time running smoothly on my iPad 2 wi-fi, iphone 4S and iMac OX 10.8.4. However, on the day of my changing carrier (17/09/2013), iMessage and FaceTime stopped working on my iMac as well as iPad 2. It can longer recieve or send messages or receive or make Face Time calls. All the settings looked the same - tick mark next to both my Apple ID email and mobile number, and conversation has always been set to start from mobile number on all devices. iMessage and FaceTime continue to work on iphone 4S without any issues. New sim card but same mobile number. I don't worry too much about the iPad. I just want to make it work again on my iMac and appreciate any help anyone can offer.
Steps I have attempted to make iMessage work again (I left Face Time turned off on iphone and iMac during this time)
    0) I disabled/removed Bonjour (GTalk) in iMessage setting in iMac
    1) I have turned off iMessage and FaceTime on all devices and swtiched iMessage only back on in iphone 4S first and then iMac. I got the message on my iphone that the iMac will start using the mobile number and Apple ID to send iMessages. However, iMac still fails to send or receive messages.
    2) I have updated Apple ID on the web (removed the phone number, saved, and then re-entered phone number assoicated with Apple ID). Then repeat #1
    3) I have tried changing "start new conversation from Apple ID email" across all devices - did not resolve anything
    4) I have added a friend's Apple ID in iMessage on my iMac -mobile number automatically appeared and tick marks for both her mobile and Apple ID email but unable to send or recieve messages still while it continues to work from her iphone
    5) I have also done a PRAM reset - I got the 2 chimes - did not resolve the issue
There's a clear trigger for this problem - change of carrier but I don't understand why it is affecting the iMac (and ipad) but not the iphone itself. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do about it?
Thanks for your help in advance.

    Hi,
At the OS X 10.8.2 update things regarding the iMessages Account's login were changed.
It now requires that the Mac's Serial Number is held in the Memory for it on the Logic Board.
It can get missed in Refurbishments and Repairs.
This is used to generate the Auth-Token for your Apple ID in the Keychain.
Go to Application/Utilities and open Keychain Access.
In the Login Keychain look for "IDS: (Your Apple ID)-AuthToken"
Double clicking this will open the Info Panel.
Check the Access tab and make sure it is either allowing Any App or lists Messages, IMCore and those in this pic.
Although it is know that the Mac has to list the Serial Number it is not clear if other info is needed.
It is possible that it also refers to your Public IP address in some way, this would seem unlikely as most people's ISP issued IP address is from a DHCP server - you basically keep the same IP as you are "Always On" between the router and the ISP but it can change.
If it is not allowing access then change the settings.
There are also two .plists that contain the word imessages
One of these refers to the server you connect to.
com.apple.imservice.iMessage.plist contains the Info you have in the Preferences of Messages (Apple ID, Linked iPhone Numbers and any additional emails)
com.apple.imessage.bag.plist contains which server at iMessages you connect to.
I would try deleting (drag to Trash) the second of these and then restarting Messages.
If that does not work Quit Messages and delete the AuthToken for your Apple ID (if the AuthToken appeared to be allowing access above.)
    Restart Messages.
