  • My iMessage and facetime is not working after updating to ios 7... My ipad works perfectly and it's the same apple id.  Any answers or reasons why on the iPhone 5 is not working???

My iMessage and facetime is not working after updating to ios 7...
Any answers on how to fix it?  I've tried to restart, restore connected to itunes, but nothing.

    ACTIVATING FACETIME AND IMESSAGES
Activating Facetime and Imessages on your phone requires the ability to send SMS messages and depending upon where you are that might be an international SMS.  Check with your carrier to see if your plan supports sending of international SMS messages.  If you are having trouble activating Facetime or Imessages turn them both off on your device and reset the device (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost)).  Wait for the device to restart and wait a minute and turn Facetime and imessage back on and wait for activation.  If that does not fix things read the following articles:

I had an iphone 4s and it worked nice with facetime and imessage using my phone number but  it was stolen on December so I buy a new iphone 4s using the same cellphone number  but now imessage and facetime does not work with my number, it only works with my apple ID.   Please Help me I speak Spanish so  if my English is not ok  I´m sorry about it.
Do you think that apple has to   reset in their database of the old serial number attached with my phone number and that’s why I can´t activate imessage and facetime with my number in the new iphone 4s??

I understand all of this Meg; that is why I bought an Iphone; but never expected my phone not even give a at least a 24 or even 12 hours....I work 12 hour shifts and also would expect to have to charge each night but not twice a day or more.  I am not always somewhere I can charge my phone.
Your points are true; however it doesn't help me......

    Hello there, Bromers87.
It seems that you're having issues with activation of both of these features on your new iPhone 5s. The following Knowledge Base article offers some pointers with issues activating them on your iPhone:

  • IMessage and push notifications not working after installing iOS 7!!

My iMessages and push notifications don't work after installing iOS7..!!! I can't even log in to iMessages using my Apple ID.. And every time I log into Facebook or whatsapp it keeps telling me to connect to iTunes to receive push notifications..!!
I connected to iTunes on my comp and tried resetting my phone.. Nothing works!! HELP

Its stuffed, iMessage and facetime are both sitting on "waiting for activation" so they are not working, 1 post suggested resetting the phone again setting up as a new phone and then turning iMessage and Facetime on and then restoring.  After the reset iMessage and Facetime started working, I did the restore and it stopped working again.  Nice waste of 2 hours.

  • IMessage from iPhone 5 not working to iPad 2 internationally

    Hi there,
I am hoping someone can help me with clarifying why iMessage from my wife (iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.3, currently in South Africa) is not working to me (iPad2, iOs 6.1.3) at the moment.  She is unable to send to me, but experiences no problems in sending to our kids in Canada (who are all on iPhones).  When she is in Canada, iMessage works just fine.  Is it because iMessage is transmitting to my kids' iphones via cellular, but she is unable to txt me (my iMessage is linked to an email address) because she is not on a data connection/WiFi?  Is iPod appreciate any assistance; thank you!

Thank you very much for your help MetaSolaray; this is most helpful ... I have followed your advice and was able to establish the following:
My kids can send messages to my iPad via iMessage, and they receive messages sent from my iPad ... so, all ok with respect to Apple devices in Canada!
It now has become apparent that messages sent by my wife from South Africa to my kids' iPhones are received randomly (i.e. not consistently), and still not delivering at all to my iPad.  What is interesting is that my wife is able to txt my eldest's Blackberry perfectly.  Does this mean that it is an iMessage/iDevice to iDevice issue?
My wife has not yet been able to get to a WiFi location, so all texts have been sent via cellular (data roaming is turned off on her iPhone).  We are hoping that soon she will be able to get to a location where she can hop onto a wireless network to test this further; but, I have to say, I find this highly frustrating as txt (pre-iMessage) seemed so reliable.  I will keep you posted ...
I really appreciate your kind assistance!

  • Iphoto 9.6 is not sharing with Facebook,iMessage,iCloud and is not working for print orders

iphoto 9.6 on yosemite is deleting all of the pics from the former library, iphoto 9.6 can't share with Facebook despite that it is oke with the account. no sharing with iMessage and no sharing with iCloud possible the choices stay grey. also print orders are not possible it's stay also grey.

    gombaig wrote:
I had the same issue too, email, facebook, Twitter  ect, all greyed out.
    What ist the solution?
    Did you read the thread?
    here is one
I had the same issue, email, iMessage, Facebook,etc.. plus print all greyed out. I went up to the File menu, clicked on the Switch to Library drop down. Since I only have one library it was already selected, hit choose and all of the functions work again. Seems the system wasn't acknowledging my original library once I updated to Yosemite or 9.6. Either way, it works now.
If that does not work here is another suggestion
Try repair permissions with Disk Utility.

  • IMessage (Macbook pro) suddenly not working!?

My imessage from my macbook pro is not working! When I send a message, it automatically displays a red exclamation point and the name of the person I am sending it to turns red. When I click on that it tells me that their number is not registered with imessage! I've sent imessages before (today even) and I don't know what happened. I think I may have messed with some preferences because I was trying to change security preferences, but maybe I accidentally clicked something I shouldn't have? I know it is me because I get the same error for every person I try to message. It works from my phone, though.

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
    Step 1
Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
Sign out of iMessage on all your Apple devices. Log out and log back in. Try again to sign in.
    Step 3
Restart your broadband device and your router, if different. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
    Step 4
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
    Step 5
Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
    Step 6
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
    Step 7
    Select from the menu bar
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
    and click
Block all sites from storing information on this computer
    Close the preference pane.
    Step 8
Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Use the search box in the toolbar of the Keychain Access window to find and delete all items with "iMessage" in the name. Log out and log back in.
    Step 9
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
    Step 10
Boot in safe mode and log in. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
If iMessage worked in safe mode, but didn't work when you booted out of safe mode, stop here and post your results.
    Step 11
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Step 12
    Reinstall OS X.
    Step 13
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support.

  • IMessage - Blue/Green Identity Not Working!

Successfully updated iPhone 4 to iOs5 and icloud.
Want to use iMesage but it is not working. I have checked it is enabled.
When I compose a new message, I have selected my friend who is an iPhone user who HAS also updated over night.
The message is coloured green which I believe is normal SMS and it should be coloured blue if it is using iMessage.
I have tried it with 3 other iPhone users (all updated to ios5) but none of messages are colouring blue!
    Any ideas?

I had to turn on MMS. Go to /settings/general/network/Cellular Data Network/
and enter here all the MMS data.
Then make sure that under /settings/Messages/MMS Messages in on.
When I did this "the blue bubble" appeared in the message app for contacts using imessage. Also the @ symbol appears next to the spacebar on the keybpard so that you can enter an email address.
    Hope this helps

  • Password for imessage on my imac not working

I went on vacation for a week. The imac was turned off. I turned it one today. Everything works except for imessage and facetime. I was asked for the appleID passwords for both and entered them in but they failed. The AppleID password worked fine for iTunes. I changed it anyway. Message and Facetime still do not work. Nor does the new password work on my ipads anymore. ***?

  • Changed Apple ID password, now iMessage for iPad will not work

    Hey there,
I changed my Apple ID password this morning but when I tried to use iMessage on my iPad this evening - and was prompted for the new password - iMessage would no longer work. My Apple ID and my iMessage email addresses are different and, although I would like to believe this is the problem, the fact is the messages are being sent to my email inbox rather than to my iPad iMessage app. Further, the "send" button is disabled when I try to send anything from the iPad.
    Any ideas?

Also, I just tried FaceTime and that is also not working.
The email address I would like to use appears in the list of email addresses in Settings>iMessage, but it is greyed out so I cannot access it. My apple id keeps appearing there despite my constant clicking on "forget this address." I tried using my apple id as the default email address but even that will not work.
I'm about ready to throw all things iDevice at a wall!

  • My iMessaging and FaceTime is not working. What do I do?

Okay, I have had my 4th generation iPod touch for 4 months and I have gotten the updates too. I have been trying
To get it to iMessage my friends, well every time i try, it says error occurred or just won't send to the iPod or iPhone carrier
(The person that has one) I could send one to myself but that was it. Now it won't do that anymore. I have tried and tried and changed my password three times.
Still nothing. What do I do and how can I get it to iMessage and FaceTime my friends. Because honestly this is getting to be a headache.
    Thank you,
    XoXoSmiles54

What I had to was backup my device's data to either iCloud or iTunes. Once it was backed up I erased all of my settings as if my iPad just came out of the box. You set it up again and it will asked you to either start as new, back up from iTunes, or back up from ICloud. If you want to see if everything works you can set up as new, otherwise just pick the choice depending on where you backed up your information. Eventually it will restore all of your information and your iMessage and FaceTime should be working. It worked for me, if you'd like more/better instructions let me know!!
