My iMessage is showing up as my email and when I try to fix it, it shows error above my phone number.

My iMessage is showing up as my email. I tried to fix it by going to settings-messages-receive at-caller id but where my number was, it was gray and above my number it says error. What do I need to do to fix this?? Please help!

Do it in settings the same way, except do it under "start new conversation from" under send and recieve. Make sure there is a check mark beside yoru phone number.

They need to go into their settings>messages and make sure iMessage is on. Also they should click on the send & receive button to make sure their phone number is selected.

Contact iTunes Customer support... it is not possible to bypass Activation Lock.

First see if placing the iPod in Recovery Mode will allow a restore.
Next try DFU mode and restore.

Try from a computer. You may have to reset your password. If you can't get the comfirmation email then you can use the secret question. Once you can log in then you change the the email address.

Upgraded to iOS 5, all iMessage contacts show up as the phone number

I have upgraded to iOS 5, and now under my Messages, every contact to whom I can send an iMessage shows up as their phone number instead of as the contact name. Any ideas on how I can fix this?, It's hard to keep track of who I'm talking to now.

I am using Good For Enterprise on my Iphone 4s to connect with my Office PC Outlook email system. I am having trouble synching my Itunes music from my Mac at home with my IPhone 4s. I am considering using ICloud to share the music as I also have an IPad2. When I go to turn on the ICloud application, I get a message that alerts me to the fact I will no longer be able to synch with my computer. Does that mean with my Office PC and my Outlook email, or my Mac and my home email and other applications? I seem to never tire of saying this. It was for Apple when they first announced 10.7 to disclose this. Yes, it was widely reported -- or rather, rumored -- but not by Apple. And many people who have gotten caught by this assumed that Apple itself would have told them beforehand about the loss of this very important feature which they had come to rely on. As far as I know, not even in fine print, does this appear anywhere on the Lion announcement or any of its links.
I am not saying Apple had to continue Rosetta in Lion, or forever, just that if it was going to be dropped, it should have been made known.
As relative "insiders" we should not forget that many people don't have the time, habit or interest to do this kind of research. I think it is a breach of trust that Apple has never directly made this announcement or given people the opportunity to decide beforehand if giving up their PPC apps for a new OS is a worthwhile tradeoff.

I wanted to listen to some new music i added to my itouch, but when i looked, it said no content in the music section. So i connected to the computer and opened itunes. My device showed up and everything, my playlists and songs where still there, but my itouch still showed No Content. Then i tried to sync it, and there's always an error popping up, so now i have no idea what to do! I have too many songs to start over again! And the iTunes i am using now was not my original one because my old computer broke so i got a new computer and new iTunes, so this iTunes doesn't have all of my songs. i'm sick and tired of being afraid to update my itouch because it says it won't save my songs so when it updates my songs could be deleted. iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

HT1688 This morning loaded 7.0.4 and noticed that my email pop server will not download email and when I try to delete apps the X doesn't pop up in the left corner anymore. The app wiggles but the X is gone.

This morning after downloading 7.0.4 I've noticed that my email POP server will not download my email. Also you can not delete apps.
With the app wiggling the "X" doesn't appear in the upper left corner which allows you to delete that particular app. I have told friends
that are still on 7.0.3 not to download 7.0.4.

The "x" only appears on apps that you are allowed to delete. You cannot delete the Apple-supplied Apps like Mail. There is no problem here with iOS 7
Also make sure that you do not have a restriction set on "deleting apps". If this is set you will not be able to delete any App. See Settings > General > Restrictions

Had the same problem and trying to remember how I fixed it. Let's see...
Try this:
1) Settings > Messages > Receive At > Use your Apple ID for iMessage > make sure you are logged out from Apple / iTunes.
2) under "You can be reached for messages at:" > make sure only your phone number shows and no email address.
Hope that works, if not I just can't remember what else I did. However I got it working so that my tel number now shows to iMessage recipients instead of my email address.

I had this same issue and got it resolved very simply when I contacted Apple SUpport
Go to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ and sign into your infomation
> Go to Manage apple id and primary email address
> Change it to the old apple id that your device is asking for
> Save changes
> Go to Settings > iCloud and sign out of the infomation
> Go back to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
> Change it back to the correct apple id
> Go to the email address adn reverify the apple id
> Sign back into iCloud on your device
> Smile

Logout (System Preferences>iCloud) then login with the new address and password.
